I rarely use the colon, unless in a more professional setting. I also rarely use capital letters when typing & texting. I am a big fan of the exclamation point though!!!

I’m a Gen X or Xennial, depending which chart you look at, and I don’t write the : I'm just an old lady... who does use the colon. I'm quoting you just to say - Cute new avatar, girlie! DS30 answered 0130 or 1300 - but says the military doesn't use colons My military sons use 24 hour time with no colon. I sometimes have to stop and count out what they mean. Lol. Thanks! ☺️ And don’t you ever call yourself an old lady again. Lies!

With the colon for anything work related and with a note re the time zone. 1:30 pm EST.
For a quick note to remind me, I might just go with 5p or something along those lines.

I always use the colon, I'm really not sure if I notice if other people do or don't.

Genuine elderly foreigner here. I have never used a colon, iirc, but I do always use a full stop. 1.30 pm or 13.30 hrs. I have never seen ante meridiem or post meridiem abbreviated to just a or p. Our currency is written as pounds £ and pennies p and if I saw something written as 1:30p I would immediately think it was £1 30p For the time it would be am or pm.

Like gillyp, it would never occur to me to use a colon. I use a full stop whether I’m using the 12 or 24 hour clock, and I probably use the 24 hour clock more often. My dentist phoned me yesterday to offer me an appointment today, and I noticed that I scribbled down 15.30 on my notepad.

Ditto, plus we never say military time, it's always called the 24 hour clock. The 24 hour clock is used for e.g. railway timetables etc. I would probably say to a friend, let's meet at six but in a text would say 18.00

I write either 13.30 or 1.30pm. Also, I hate it when you make an appointment and they say that the time is ‘ten to three’. Please just tell me 2.50 or 14.50 so I can quickly write it down! If I saw 130 written down I wouldn’t know it was a time! I’m in my 50’s in the UK.

In South Africa we wrote the time using the 24hr clock with 'h' as the separator e.g. the time now is 23h01. I switched to 23:01 when I started working in Australia because I kept getting odd looks. Even then people would ask why I use the 24hr clock. It's just ingrained in me.
ETA: I always used four digits for time, so 01:30 not 1:30.
ETA2: ISO standard is to use a colon. A dot is used between seconds and milliseconds (to three digits). So a full ISO format date and time would be 2022-01-11 23:15:00.456 for example with 456 being the milliseconds (date is 11 January in the example)

I’m still double spacing and using an Oxford comma so obviously I use a colon when typing out the time.
I’m 45 and set in my ways.

Just to be different, if I’m handwriting it I usually just write the minutes smaller at the top (superscript?). If typing then with the colon.

If I’m typing I use the colon - but I’m often using Siri or voice text to send messages and then it leaves out colon. This.

Always use a colon. I've even run into issues with simply using the colon but neglecting to specify am or pm, so I'm not about to possibly make anything even more confusing.

I've never seen a time written without a colon, but I can understand why people would type it without the colon, especially in a text. On my iPhone I have to go to another keyboard to get to the : and other punctuation such as ? and ! which is a huge PITA if I'm wanting to type quickly. It's just another way of typing quicker, and it's no different to using other texting abbreviations such as 'ru' for 'are you' or '4' for 'for' or 'obvs' for 'obviously'. Signed, someone who is anal and boomerish enough about grammar that I would never dream of typing 'ru' or '2nite' or a time without a colon.
