I have recently been bothered by the marionette lines on my face--you know, the ones that run down from the corners of your mouth. I am someone who never thought I'd do any kind of cosmetic change to my face but I think mine are becoming so pronounced, they make me look unhappy. I don't mind wrinkles around the eyes--I think Isabella Rosselini's are beautiful--but I don't want to look unhappy--because I'm not.
I've done some cursory research and it seems that fillers are a way to go but they are comparatively expensive and only last for about a year. I have no desire to go under the knife, but I'm wondering if it would be more cost effective to do that. Has anyone ever done a consult about this facial area or have any info?

Sadly I don’t think there is a quick fix. Botox and fillers don’t work well on that area. 🙁
Supposedly if you have filler higher up it can support the lower face but I wouldn’t expect anything drastic. I’d like to see the results on women over 50, not the usual 20 and 30 year old faces that they feature on most med-spa pages.

I have had consults but I am too chicken for filler. A syringe costs me $700-800 and I think it looks like it would hurt too much. Just an opinion but I keep getting pressured to go for it. I need under eye volume.

I'm not sure I can help because I haven't gone the surgery route, but I did get fillers in that area in September and was very pleased. It's very subtle because I didn't have deep lines, so it was almost more preventative for me. I just look fresher, not really different.
I also got Botox in a few areas, including the eyes and forehead. I really recommend doing it all, seeing if you like it, and going from there. Like you I was hesitant thinking that a non-surgical approach wouldn't make much difference, but I'm glad I decided to try it out.
I just turned 50 so I'm all about doing upkeep/maintenance at this point. Eventually I'll see about more invasive measures, I'm sure.

In September I did a filler there for the first time bc I also have the creases at the corner of my mouth and they really bother me. I did 1 syringe for $500 (which was a special and I did it at the same time as my Botox) and she did the corners of my mouth and some bad creases in my chin. It made a big difference in my chin and a small improvement in the corners. I was also not prepared for how painful it was. I plan to do it again soon though….

I know someone who gets botox in her DAO - it lifts the smile and keeps the corners of the mouth from turning down. To be honest? I think it makes her a look a little 'Joker-ish' but she's happy with it and it does turn the corners of her mouth up.

I know a lot of plastic surgeon offices have specials, I think ours has a special early February. You can just go for Botox and ask about the fillers. Also, for Botox I think there are reward programs you can sign up for.

I’ve never had filler there, but I did have it in a deep crease between my eyebrows. (When someone asked me if it was a scar, I decided it was time.). I had filler done twice, a year apart — and ten years later I haven’t yet had to do it again. The dr told me some fillers stimulate the collagen in your skin to rebuild on its own.

I did Sculptra a few years ago. It is an injection that helps stimulate your skin's natural collagen production. I was mainly looking for something to help with the wells under my eyes and this was what was suggested by the person that I've gone to for Dysport. It did help with under my eyes and also the jowl areas (which weren't even bothering me until I saw that they got better). I only paid for one time and really wish that I could do this regularly. It may be something to look into.
