Any tips on cleaning the blades of your scissors? How about your paper cutter?
I am constantly battling the sticky residue that gets on my scissors, cutter platform edge and cutter blade of my rotary cutters.
My scissors are nothing special - a inexpensive set of 3 from Costco - 8" Scotch Precision Titanium-fused blades that come apart. My cutters I use the most are a ProCision Rotary Bypass Trimmer and a CutterPillar Pro Trimmer with LED Light.
It seems like lately I've been doing a lot of trimming after applying adhesive (I try to avoid that) and I'm getting adhesive (from score tape, xyron, glue stick, Bearly Art glue, etc.) residue on my cutting blades.
Has anyone found a tried and true product for removing the sticky residue?
TIA

I really like using alcohol prep pads/swabs (the kind they use to swab your arm before giving you a shot). Here's a link to the ones I usually buy at Target, but you can get them anywhere, like CVS, Walmart, etc. One box lasts me a long time and I find the swabs a lot easier to use than liquid rubbing alcohol (which I do use for some things, but the swabs are less messy for small jobs). I also have a ProCision and have never had any adverse effects from using the swabs on it, if that helps.

I don't cut anything sticky with my paper cutter and it is self sharpening which means I can't take it out anyways.
For scissors I immediately wash in warm water with dawn and scrub a little with a scotch brite pad (blue). Rinse and hand dry.
I have only had to do that a few times in all my years of scrapbooking. It was from cutting double sided foam adhesive. Haven't used that in years.
I don't get any residue when I cut down a sticker. 🤷♀️

If they're REALLY sticky I use un-du. Otherwise, I don't really clean them much!

I've used Goo Gone in the past and then wiped down everything really well after...it worked really well.

I use hand sanitizer. I also use HS to clean my glass mat, and stamping platform. If that doesn't work then I use Un-do.

I use Goo-Gone, then wipe afterward with an alcohol wipe. I have used alcohol in the past, but the Goo-Gone does a more thorough job.

I use either an alcohol swab or hand sanitizer with a tissues. I keep a supply of the alcohol swabs in my tool holder for crops

I was trying to use hand sanitizer and it was a big fail, so that's what prompted my post. I think it may be a problem with the hand sanitizer. (a cheaper off-brand). I know there is a bunch of different bottles of sitting around here. I'm going to try different brands to see if I get different results. Alcohol wipes sound like something I need for my stash, too. Thnking back, I'm also guessing one of the biggest culprits might be the Xyron permanent adhesive. I'm making the Valentines for the NSBR Exchange and found I need to cut down the size of my top layer for it to fit on an A2 card base. The Xyron is a very gummy adhesive! I'll try some of these ideas and see what works best for me. Thanks!

Alcohol prep wipes from Dollar Tree. I have certain scissors that I only use when cutting adhesive, foam dots, etc so all my scissors don't get tacky.

I use eucalyptus oil to clean my scissors although I have no idea how widely it’s available there. I buy it from the supermarket.

I use one of the adhesive chemicals on a rag, then rinse with rubbing alcohol on another rag. Never use an abrasive on metal. Treat your blades like your kitchen cutlery. For my glass mats and glass top work table I use Windex and a razor scraper. Also one of my son in laws brother has a sharpening service, he gives me 1 week service when I call him.

I'm a Goo Gone girl. I found a tiny bottle in Dollar Tree a few years ago and it has lasted a long time.

This is what I do - works great. If it still seems sticky, I’ll clean with Un-du.
