How do you feel about the Expo returning to Orlando in June 2022.? I know a bunch of people are super jazzed and I guess I just have too long of a memory to support them. They changed their refund policy and refused to give refunds. They took down posts about the dangers of coronavirus and showed me that they cared more about making money than protecting their consumers. I plan to support the vendors that are attending by purchasing their products online. I guess I’m just surprised that’s so many seem to be willing to forgive and forget. I will be supporting the CKC show in Lakeland in November as I’d like this alternative to grow and flourish. Would love to hear your thoughts?

I went to the one here last fall. They and the vendors followed all COVID restrictions. I didn't see one person without a mask, not one.
As far as 2020 - I am forgiving of the situation the owner found herself in. Events like Expo are required to secure and place healthy deposits on the facilities. The vast majority of them do not give refunds for cancellations. The $$ we all pay in advance goes to paying for the deposits for space and product and so on. No refunds to Expo means no available $$ for refunds for attendees. They did offer credits for upcoming shows. I was disappointed in the lack of support by the vendors.
So long story short I feel badly for every small business that had to slog through the COVID crisis.

I will not be going to the Expos in my local area. While I understand the hardships the small businesses had to endure during this seemingly never-ending pandemic, there were better ways to handle it. The Expo did not handle it well, how they treated their vendors was appalling. And also, the past few years of the Expos have been pretty lackluster, totally not worth the price of admission. They could have given people the option to get a gift certificate for future expos or get their money back but they didn't. ETA: gramma - since you're in California, there are mandates for these kinds of things here, if you're going to have a certain number of people indoors you have to be masked. Unfortunately not all states have mandates like that.

I would be VERY surprised if there are ANY covid restrictions in Orlando - mask and vaccine mandates are something our governor actively opposes to the point of penalising school districts by pulling state funds for requiring masks. And while I'm further north than Orlando - when I go to the grocery store - employees are masked (and mostly correctly) but I often don't see a single other customer in a mask. justhanging - I haven't been to an expo before and I'm certainly not going during a pandemic - nor am I going anywhere more crowded than my grocery store.

I missed what happened 2020. What did they do to the vendors? If there is a thread I missed I’m happy to read that.

Yes California - but mandates are changed as often as some people change socks. There is little compliance and the government wants to hold businesses accountable for enforcement. Door greeters who are generally elderly and cashiers who tend to be young are the ones facing down the public. It's a mess.

Glad I live in the SF Bay Area because my county has almost 84% vaccination rate and 100% mask compliance (our mandates haven't changed at all on masking since the beginning). We don't have the same issues as red parts of the state have.

Unfortunately, I think that most vendors have to sign up for cconventions by the end of January, and then they are all stuck.
