The Biden's adopted a kitty! Meet Willow!!! wjla.com/news/offbeat/meet-willow-the-bidens-new-white-house-catFrom the article: The short-haired tabby made quite an impression on Jill Biden after jumping up on stage and interrupting her remarks during a 2020 campaign stop in Pennsylvania, LaRosa said. “Seeing their immediate bond, the owner of the farm knew that Willow belonged with Dr. Biden,” he said. The White House hasn't had a feline resident since India, President George W. Bush's cat.

Such a pretty kitty! Love the name too, I can't imagine they named it after the character on Buffy, but I am going to pretend they did.

Skellinton, Biden's hometown is Willow. So they named Willow after that. Though I like your version better.

The little cat we adopted a few months ago is Willow!
Love that we have animal adopters in the White House! Millions of wonderful cats and dogs killed every year - maybe this will inspire some people to adopt, not just buy.

Welcome to team tabby, Biden family! I am confused by the article though. If they had an "immediate bond" why has it taken over a year for her to join the family? As a former farm cat, did she have to complete an intensive "no peeing on the antiques" training course first?

Maybe Dr. Biden was pretty busy (ha), plus they were dealing with the issues with their German Shepard who wasn’t doing well in the WH environment. I’d want that settled before bringing in another animal. Just guessing.

Skellinton, Biden's hometown is Willow. So they named Willow after that. Though I like your version better. That's a cool connection. My town wouldn't make a cool cat name. I have always liked the name Jasper for a cat and we go there for weekend vacations.

Gray tabby cats (especially those with green eyes) are my absolute favorite! Willow is beautiful and I love her name!

I'm going to guess the cat was actually at their Delaware home for a little bit, getting all of its shots and getting it used to be an indoor cat. Plus it's possible that since she met the cat two years ago and announced that Willow is 2 years old, maybe she was still a kitten that wasn't fully weaned?

Cats are ready to leave the mother at 2 months. Apparently the cat has been living in a foster home. www.nytimes.com/2022/01/28/us/politics/biden-cat-willow.html

I am a huge fan of that cat. Needs an Instagram, if there is not one already.

So happy for them! What a cute cat. I was never much of a cat person until my middle daughter recused an 8 yr. old cat in Aug. when she got her first job/apt. Then my grad student daughter rescued two cats in the fall. They all stayed with us for a month over Christmas and I just adore them!

She's adorable! I love the story of how she came to the White House. www.npr.org/2022/01/28/1076323003/biden-cat-white-house-willowThe Biden administration announced Friday that the first family has adopted a gray shorthair tabby cat named Willow.
First lady Jill Biden was apparently the driver behind the adoption after Willow interrupted a speech she was giving at a Pennsylvania farm during President Biden's 2020 campaign.
"Willow made quite an impression on Dr. Biden in 2020 when she jumped up on the stage and interrupted her remarks during a campaign stop. Seeing their immediate bond, the owner of the farm knew that Willow belonged with Dr. Biden," Michael LaRosa, the first lady's spokesman, said in a news release.
The cat is named after the first lady's hometown of Willow Grove, Pa. The cat will be the first to live in the White House since President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush's black cat, India.
Last month, the Bidens welcomed Commander, a 4-month-old purebred German shepherd puppy. In June, the Bidens' eldest dog, Champ, died. Meanwhile, Major, whom they adopted from an animal shelter in 2018, was rehomed after struggling to adapt to the busy White House environment.
By the looks of it, Willow is having no such issues adjusting.

The county could for a distinguished cat boy - Montgomery, Monty for short.
