Hello challenge peas! Welcome to Day 1 of the 28-4-28 Challenges for 2022. I am your Tuesday host bringing you all things SEASONS during the month of February. The first challenge is all about SPRING; think temperatures, holidays, colors, icons, activities, etc. How you choose to interpret the theme is up to you! The twist is to use ink or paint on your project. In my example below I used flower and leaf stamps paired with distress oxide inks & water to create the floral background. grammadee has included an incentive for all Quarter ONE team players: If you are on a team, you can earn FIVE points for meeting this challenge, with a TWO POINT BONUS for also meeting the twist on this same project. It was not previously stated in the Quarter One challenges list, or in gramma's spreadsheet, but if you can complete ALL of the 28-4-28 challenges by the end of this quarter, you can earn a BONUS of 280 points!

Your layout is sooooooo gorgeous Ryann, and that background is amazing! The lovely colours make me happy. I love the twist too - I have recently bought some new digital brushes, and I look forward to using them for this challenge.

Linda Thank you!! Hopefully you have something with pigment you can pair up with water (if no ink pads/refills or paint). Eyeshadow? You mentioned you have an artist daughter - are any of her supplies around? AussieMeg Thank you! Can't wait to see what you do with those digi brushes!!

Linda Thank you!! Hopefully you have something with pigment you can pair up with water (if no ink pads/refills or paint). Eyeshadow? You mentioned you have an artist daughter - are any of her supplies around? I should be able to find the supplies - the ability and talent to use them is where I'll struggle. I'm not the least bit artist-y - my daughter gets that from her dad not me. I'll work on tonight though and see what I can do. As a side note - one of the things I love about these challenges is the push to try things I wouldn't otherwise -sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't but it gets me out of my simple linear little box a bit.

Oh for sure! Although I must admit that I cringe when a challenge involves circles. They are my crafting nemesis! I like circles much more now I bought a 2" circle punch and remember to use my Cricut for the big circles. Mixed media is always where I cringe - I'm not a messy crafter but I do love how it looks - on other people's pages - it never seems to look right on mine

Well it is cold and the wind is howling here, so it seems like spring is forever away. But yesterday my niece dropped off this little potted plant for my birthday. I think this pic is destined for a page for this challenge.

I love the snowy background and the fresh flower as the focus...I'm sure you will come up with something awesome for the page.

I liked this one better in person than the photograph. Maybe some of the textures? I was very inspired by Ryann 's painty flowery background behind the photo. I wish I had added a few more flowers and leaves. I wanted to do sentences strips. Some of you (like grammadee above) have used those so effectively recently. But alas, the story I had to tell was too long to fit on strips. Perhaps another challenge soon.

grammadee - beautiful layout and flower - what a sweet gift. I love your teal piece - it's helping me come up with a plan. jjpeapea - so pretty with the flowers and leaves - I really like that I'm making progress - I found photos from 2020 - apparently I'm pretty consistent about scrapping Jan-April almost every year. And I'm used distress oxide spray to make a piece of patterned paper to use on the layout (but of course, now it needs to dry)

grammadee I love your bright take on the challenge. The patterned paper layers mimic the colors of your photo beautifully and I love the inclusion of handwritten journaling. jjpeapea I love your bold color palette and the dainty florals surrounding your photo - lovely!

Thanks for the challenge Ryann - I found some photos from March 2020 to use and sprayed distress ink to make one of my layering pieces ( grammadee - your layout inspired me on that)

jjpeapea, that page with the scattered spring flowers around the tree is genius! And beautiful. You purple splatters are really pretty, as is your page, Linda. Congrats on dabbling in the messy stuff!

Easter Sunday, 2021 I used watercolor paper and watercolored on it, then used a stamp and die set to make the flowers. image1 by K Mage, on Flickr

Ryann, great use of color and stamps, so bright and pretty, perfect for your "little lamb"! grammadee and jjpeapea, both of you did such a great LO of a singular element, because there is just one thing to focus on everything plays off that and you both did an exceptional job, love the nature element too! linda, those are great pics, and your purple mist is lovely on the LO. (I am a HUGE SW fan!) kitbop, the circles convey so much energy and show how your DD has a ton of "Spring" in her step! Awesome LO!

Great way to add a watercolour element to your page, kmage. I love the vintage look: how your feature triple-framed pic looks like it is a framed photo hanging on flowered wallpaper, with the other snaps and the flowers tucked in around it.

Linda Thank you - I think your layout is smashing! The inked background goes great with your layout and I love that you captured the movement within the photos - the light sabers switching from red to purple from one photo to the next. Really cool! kitbop gorgeous layout! I like how you've make circles looks so good on a page (they are scary to me!). Great title and I love the wonky borders framing your page. Great job! kmage This is a such a lovely layout. I like the added stamped florals. I think I see a Shimelle BOBW in there, too?

I think I see a Shimelle BOBW in there, too? Yep, this is the first LO for February! I am using the Spring Market kit from EP instead of the kit she pulled, so I'll have lots of LO for 28-4-28 using that kit, lol!

Linda So Springy, such a nicely controlled use of spray. I like your tiny information strips - they are partly why I wanted strips. I finally got to use them on challenge 6. kitbop ALL the colors and patterns that work so well all together. Like did you encourage your DD to wear that top just to go with your lovely supplies? Love the circles - people say "remember when we did that weird thing"? Not weird! They look perfect for this layout. kmage So pretty and honoring spring, very pretty flowers and capturing a warm family time.

Baptism- VD mini album layouts by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr Although this event did not take place in Spring (it was August!), my niece's dress and the balloons have a pastel color scheme, so I went for it with this challenge! Excuse the face-censoring, and this is for her mini-album that I created. This is the last page in her mini-album and I'm so sad about it! I documented a spread a month for her first year, then I had extra room so I did her first bday party, a few beach pages, and now her baptism. I'm officially out of mini page protectors and her album is bulging, lol so time to wrap it up they grow up so fast!!

scrappyrabbit well congratulations and sympathy at the same time for finishing your album. I know what you mean ... those days fly by. Very pretty paper and pretty elements for pretty girls. No need to apologize for face censoring. It's prudent! I have a cute step grandson and also a great grand niece but I'm so hesitant to use their photos.

Ryann, kitbop, scrappyrabbit and grammadee, you have love in the gallery. jjpeapea, your Spring tree in bloom is so pretty. I love the inked/painted flowers and leaves you added around the photo. Your triple layered title is perfect. I’m glad you finally got to see the blossoms..and think of all the exercise you got too. Beautiful page. Linda, your light saber page is such a great design. I love the big banner behind the photo and as a frame for your matted photos. Congrats on using the purple spray ink which is very pretty and matches the layout perfectly. I am always nervous about sprays. Love the Star Wars card and the tiny little hearts. Beautiful page. For this challenge I used purple, blue, and pink Oxide inks on the flowers and hearts and a gold Color Shine spray on the background. Big Hugs

I figured Care Bear pastels are springy. I added ink to a pre-made Vicki Boutin background. #OOTD
