Chatting in the Ali E thread, we were lamenting the new chipboard without adhesive (and thinner). So I thought I’d ask here separately, what are your favorite chipboard brands out there (with adhesive backing of course!)

This is a great question-I have never been able to just used the chipboard, I always have to glue it down. Doesn't seem to matter what brand. Although I have never used any with no adhesive at all.

I love, love, the Thickers chipboard with foam back ( and adhesive). Just the ones with the foam back. I find those to stick so well sometimes you can barely peel them off the backing they come on. Sometimes I even have to pull it off and then peel the paper off.
That said, I prefer chipboard pieces to be thinner. No bulk and you don't see the the chipboard on the sides as much. I see those as an upgrade to the regular chipboard. Like the AC 12x12 ones.

A few months back I watched a live video with a manufacturer-I think it was the owner of Echo Park, but I could be wrong. I remember him saying that the chipboard is made overseas, because adhesive backed chipboard/cardboard is not available in the US. I don't know why. It doesn't really make sense to me. I remember thinking to myself, that's weird, of all things you can't get in the US?! Anyway, all that to say, if they are offering chipboard pieces without adhesive backing, maybe it is in an attempt to have their product made in the USA. To support US made, but also maybe to avoid the shipping delays. Just a thought, I have no idea if I'm right.

I use adhesive backed chipboard a lot from Simple Stories and Echo Park.
I remember hearing on a podcast one time May Flaum talking about chipboard, and saying she always glues it down with wet glue, no matter what.
Her reasoning was that paper flexes when you flip the page, and it's hard for a stiff item like chipboard to stay stuck down without rhe glue.
So...that's what I do too, add a bit of glue to the back, no matter how sticky it seems. 🤷🏻♀️

I could completely get on board with no adhesive if it meant the product was made here in the US!

I like the look and feel of Pinkfresh chipboard, though it can be hard to peeel off the plastic backing sometimes.
I don’t mind AE getting thinner chipboard. Sometimes I have to peel hers apart because they are so thick, especially the larger shapes she often has. They will buckle out a pocket pretty easily. I have also stuck them on the outside of the pp because if issues with thickness. Once I peel it apart I have to use my own adhesive anyway, so I guess the new design saves a step.

If I ever find one whose adhesive actually sticks, I’ll have a favorite.

I rarely use chipboard & generally find most scrapbook supplies advertised as self-adhesive don't actually stick! ETA: A few months back I watched a live video with a manufacturer-I think it was the owner of Echo Park, but I could be wrong. I remember him saying that the chipboard is made overseas, because adhesive backed chipboard/cardboard is not available in the US... Note EP chipboard is labeled as "Made in America" (e.g. New Day - Chipboard Frames). Of course, it doesn't specify North, South, or Central America...

I did go back and watch part of the video and he did say that their chipboard and stickers are now made in the US. Previously it was not. I apologize for being wrong. That being said, I was just trying to give a reason why the new chipboard from AE may be made without adhesive.

The Freckled Fawn chipboard is a bit thinner than AE and decent adhesive. Downside: they fall out of their spots easily, which can be annoying if you like storing them on the sheet, and they have a glossy finish to them.

I recently bought lawn fawn glue but have not tried it yet - wondering if this would work?

I know others use the Scotch liquid glue, but I started using PPA after watching a May Flaum video. I keep a fineline bottle at my desk for anything that looks like it might fall off my page.

I’ve had good luck with Elle’s Studio so far. Time will tell on those though in terms of longevity. I’m in a humid area, so I have issues with certain things due to the added moisture in the air.
