The mid-day news is on in the BG. Their QOTD is (I'm paraphrasing) 39% of people believe this about ourselves, what is it? The answer is that they believe they are the best drivers they know. That made me giggle. Do YOU think that you're the best driver you know? Best driver on the road? Do you and your partner argue about who is a better driver? Are you able to relax when other people drive?

Best driver I know is my ex-husband. He can manoeuvre into any spot or any situation anything really. It is quite impressive!

I don’t believe I’m the best driver. I know multiples of people who are better drivers than I am. Hell, I have a titanium plate in my shoulder from pulling out in front of a car because I overlooked her. I have no idea how I failed to see her but I did.

I am a better driver than my husband. I am certain of that.

I am a really good driver. DS(23) told me again the other day I was the best driver he knows. He was driving at the time and I was navigating. I am also a darn good navigator. DH is a pretty good driver but I think ahead more about which lanes I need to be in, etc., than he does. If I had a dollar for every turn he misses . . . I have a few friends that we mutually agree I will drive when going somewhere together. But I also have plenty of friends that I think are good drivers.

Hahahaha no. I am a pretty typical Houston driver, which is probably not good (though I would argue I'm efficient and generally not in your way).
But I absolutely cannot carry on a conversation while I'm driving - I will miss my turn/exit/lane change every time.

Yes, I'm the best driver I know. I always stop at stop signs and use my turn signals!

I’m definitely not the best driver I know. I can relax when other people drive for sure. In fact, I prefer that if possible.

I am a better driver than my husband. I am certain of that. Me too. And my kids agree with this statement.

I do think I’m an excellent driver. But now that I think about it, just about everyone I know thinks they’re really good drivers, as well.
I am able to stay calm and cool in stressful situations, no road rage, etc. My husband takes things on the road a little more…personally? Also, he gets sleepy really quickly on longer road trips. So I can never really sit back and zone out.

I think I'm a good driver but I'm not the best. I can't drive on snow or ice. I might be able to parallel park but it would take an embarrassing amount of effort and I'm not the best at backing into parking spaces. Dh is an excellent parker.

I'm a decent driver but no, not the best necessarily...but I'm a nervous passenger so I'm always aware if other drivers are too close, speeding or whatever.

I think I’m a good driver, but not the best one out there. I think dh is a great driver, but I’m better than him. He thinks he’s better than me. :-)

I am a good driver. ExDH NOT a good driver AT.ALL! SO is probably the best driver I know. He used to drive race cars & semis though, so there's that.

I'm a careful driver, and I'm not bad, but DH is a much better driver than I am. I am always happy to give up the wheel.

I am a more cautious driver. My husband is a much better defensive driver, he enjoys sliding around corners in the winter and can regain control easily....me on the other hand not so much.
As I get older I hate to drive, especially in bad weather conditions and since I live in Canada that is 6 months out of the year. haha

That’s funny. 100% I am not the best driver I know. I’m not bad but I have deficients like parallel parking and backing up in certain situations. I also don’t see the best at night. Dh would for sure say he is the best driver he knows. He is a good driver but not as good as he thinks he is! 😂 I can relax when others drive but sometimes I get tense with dh in certain situations and he will typically appease me and drive how I want him to. I’m fine driving with dd3 but DD1 is honestly a bit sketchy! You have to pray when you get in her car and then try and let it go besides the occasional helping her out.

I'm much more of an aggressive driver than DH. DH is 100% better than me in any kind of winter weather condition. I hate to drive in snow, and am overly cautious. I've become much safer after having both kids and getting older. I can't navigate my way out of a paper bag however, and depend heavily on the GPS on my phone. Funny story, when DH had his colonoscopy in December, I could tell his internal filters had been shut down but he anesthesia as he commented on my driving the whole way home

I'm only really familiar with my own driving, and DH's. Of those two, I am by far the better driver and he agrees. He follows too close, is too impatient, and as he ages his reaction time is getting slower. I usually drive us places.
As far as being the best driver on the road, I don't think I am that. But compared to the people I see speeding, running red lights and talking on their phones, I feel pretty good about what I am doing.

My DH is the best driver I know. I'm not, although I'm far better than some of the other idiots on the road.

I am a nervous driver when it comes to driving in mountainous areas (PA turnpike). I can't drive in fog, ice or snow.
In good conditions, I think I am a good driver. One of the only ones that follow the rules! Haha! I don't speed and I stop at stop signs and don't run red lights. That makes me one of the best drivers in our area by far!
I have no sense of direction so I always get lost.

I am a careful driver. I don't rush and I don't go too slow to cause a problem for those behind me. My phone stays in my purse and I don't respond when I am driving. That being said, so many people have better skills on the road because they are used to driving in torrential rain, ice storms, and the things that Mother Nature throws at them more often than me.

Dh is an excellent driver. I'm fine, no accidents in years, and none my fault. My siblings, all 4 of them, are in a word scary! My mom is an awful driver, my dad does well, but age is starting to show. Whenever I'm with family, I drive, because hello, they are horrible, but they know it and beg me to drive.

I feel I am a good driver. I am a defensive driver. I am always checking my mirrors and seeing where the cars around me are. I try to change lanes early, and I look ahead for openings so I am not cutting anyone off. I keep my eyes moving. I can parallel park and I am probably better at parking by backing into a spot then head first. LOL! For some reason, when I park head first, I tend to be crooked. When I back up into a spot, I am straight. My best moment was backing up into a tight spot that had a utility poll partly in the way. I guess there was a reason it was the only spot left. Thank you back up camera! I am calm and not aggressive. SO is a good driver too, maybe a bit more aggressive than me. But, I don't complain about his driving. I am also a calm passenger. But I know a couple of people, when they drive, I try to sit in the backseat because they drive terribly and I don't want to see it. ETA - We don't have to deal with a lot of Mother Nature issues here, so I don't know how I would do in snow and torrential rain.

I always say I’m a good driver but a bad parker. But maybe I’m not even a good driver because I scraped the side of my car backing out of my garage…again.

Nope. I am an anxious driver, and while I can get myself from point a to point b as long as it’s not dark, I much prefer anyone else to drive. My Dad was the best driver I knew, and Dh and Ds are pretty good too. Oh and both my sisters inherited my Dad’s driving genes and are great drivers. Not sure why I got left out!

My mom recently said she is the best driver in the family and we all looked at each other with completely shocked looks on our faces. She is so timid that it terrifies us!
So you could probably count her in the 39%. I'm not the best driver I know, but I'm OK. At least I pay attention to what is going on around me! That puts me WAY up there, right?

I got my license at 16, but I didn't really drive much (I was an only child with parents who didn't want me driving and were happy to drive me everywhere), and then I lived in the northeast until my 30s without a car. I still don't like driving, and I will walk or bus if I can (the kids are the problem, dang kids). So I think I'm a perfectly OK driver, but not a great driver or anything (and I definitely am terrible at parallel parking).
