I only buy Prime for a month here and a month there (for Prime Day and/or release of a streaming show), I know a lot of Peas have it year round. Apparently a price increase is imminent, likely to $139 annually.
I loved it back when Prime was new(ish), my son was in college so they only charged half price. I think I paid $49 a year then (over 10 years ago...yikes).
I'm curious. Do you share your Prime with other adult family members or friends that do not live in the same home as you? I never have, but it is tempting considering how little I would use it. If you do, is there a way to keep shopping carts/wishlists/past purchase history etc separate?

Everything I buy on Amazon is free shipping at $25 anyway, so I could never justify paying that much for Prime. I just don’t see the appeal.
I have my dad’s login for streaming if I want to watch something, but we never do.

Amazon HouseholdIt looks like your purchase history, etc. are separate, as each adult has a separate Amazon account, but you have to share payment methods. Prime is still worth it to me because of the discounts at Whole Foods. That alone more than pays for my Prime membership each year. The (sometimes) faster shipping is just a bonus for me.

No, everyone in my family has their own accounts.
It has come in very handy so we won't get rid of it.
I have been able to get medical supplies next day and at a savings without having to hint around at local medical supply stores with a sick kid.
And shows, movies, programs for the kids. Also music.

Everyone in our family uses it including my mom and sister-in-law in different households. It's also a backup for all my photos and videos. We use the prime music too. Worth it for us.

I am one that probably doesn’t get the full value for what I pay but will continue with it.
I like that if I want to order something I don’t need to worry about the price or waiting until I have enough for free shipping. I just order when I think about it or find what I want. I also order stuff for my parents and a few others and have it shipped to their addresses. I don’t really use the streaming or music…but keep telling myself I should.
I am sure I waste more money on other non-necessary things and prime is worth it to me.
I am the only one on my account.

We share with our adult daughters. One lives with us, one doesn't. Payments methods don't show most of the account number. It will show type (Visa, MC, etc.) but it is listed by name of owner, so that has never been an issue for us. That said, there is nothing preventing me from paying with someone else's payment method and sending the stuff to me, so you probably should trust whomever you share the account with. Sometimes it makes me put in the code on the card, but not always. My youngest listens to Amazon music all the time, and DH watches a lot of the shows, so it's worth it to us to keep it.
P.S. I just hit Drama Llama with this post! Woohoo!

I share my account with a friend. We have separate wish lists. His credit card is separate and he uses that for purchases. The only thing that is a pain is when he wants to return something. The return code comes to me. I just forward it to him.

From reading the link provided, I was under the impression that you could only use one method for payment per account, and paying each other back would be a PIA. I did not realize that you each can have your own method of payment, thank you. |

I sm the main account holder but DH is on my account. He uses a different CC snd I can’t see what he buys and vise versa. He has returned things and I never see it. To stream you need my login and password.
Not happy about the price increase but it is what it is.
Well I just looked and ours renews in a few days at the $119 rate. We use it a lot so I don’t plan to cancel at this point. Noe Netflix increasing $2.50 a month is making it harder to stomach but I have been using it more lately.

We share Amazon Household for Prime. I'm the holder of the Prime account and my husband is added via Amazon Household. I can't see his payment methods and he can't see mine. I also don't see his order history or wish lists (unless they are public or he's shared them with me) and he can't see mine. The only time it gets tangled a little bit are when we have different accounts "mapped" to our devices. For example, we can't seem to get past the problem of his owned music not playing on "my" devices. Which probably has nothing to do with Amazon Household.
We don't use all of the features of Prime, but I'll keep it even if the price goes up. We do use streaming services (including subscribing to various channels through Prime) for a good portion of our entertainment needs. I like the shipping options if I need a $6 item tomorrow rather than dragging my son from store to store looking for it. I need to look into utilizing photo storage and do more First Reads to get more bang for my buck.
I keep asking myself what's my breaking point though? At one point will the benefits not be worth it to me. $175 a year might be where I stop.

I share with my adult college student, but that is it. I was very sad this week when I kept getting notices that a package had arrived, but it was their college textbooks going to their dorm  . Even if there is a price hike, I get enough out of my account that I will keep it, but it's annoying for them to hike the price when I assume they make the vast majority of their money off of the sales they get because you are a prime member, not from the actual $$ for prime membership. |

My Netflix went up $1.50 and I'm canceling it for awhile. I'm not crazy about their new content and they already went up last year. Between the prime increase and Netflix's increase, we're talking about what we really want to keep paying for and don't. I don't remember the last time we even opened Netflix so that will probably get cancelled first.

A year ago, I used the services of a financial advisor who is helping me with the numbers game in life. I suck at math. I have made several big mistakes in the last 10 years. Im not sure how my willy nilly style has kept me afloat either and she expresses surprise as well lol! She took a look at everything I gave her and called me with a question: Do you know how much you spent with Amazon in the last month. I had no idea. When she told me the number I was shocked. Amazon prime made it way to easy to just hit the buy button. I have been mostly Amazon free (christmas is easier with amazon) and have been amazed at how much I have saved. I still have access to any movies I purchased. I never really used music or their streaming. (I recently cancelled all streaming too) I do wish I had the photo storage but its not worth the current yearly prime price. It has been a difficult switch to non amazon purchases. I have a handful of things I still get every 3 months or so but it always qualifies for free shipping. I just don't get 2 day shipping, which at the time I gave up Amazon I wasn't getting anyway. My shopping habits have changed. IT WAS HARD. I was lured back in at Christmas because my family creates lists and we shop/ship that way. I had to delete the app from all the tech. I still shop on amazon but I put things into my wishlist and only review it when I have to get some necessities. Its amazing how many things I think i need at that time are not really needed when there is time to think about it.  Anyway that's my 0.2 cents about Amazon. I would absolutely feel different if I was living remotely etc. I have been there and amazon was a lifesaver. Currently it is not. |

I got it for the free shipping years ago and it’s still worth it for me for the streaming. I have 2 young adults at home who also stream from their devices.I have bought things from them that would have been a pain to go look for in a brick and mortar store. I would probably give up something else before giving up my prime.

I am the prime Prime subscriber and we all have different payments on our accounts. This is nice so DH doesn't see what I buy and I don't see what he buys (in terms of gifts). Me, my BFF and my Mom all share Prime. This has been for awhile and back when you could link existing accounts as "family". So they are our own accounts, own payment methods, etc.
I don't think you can link that way anymore, but it works for us.
