I thought about this as I was using my Love, Elsie stuff Right now it seems that most scrapbook manufacturers release lines that have matching: die cuts stickers chipboard stickers enamel dots Thicker-like titles
sometimes they include: brads washi tape stencils stamps
Have you noticed not as many lines come with alphabets anymore?
We seem to go on cycles of embellishments. I miss some of the old stuff. Some, not so much.
magic mesh (Remember that? It was drywall tape!) fibers ribbons borders, both printed and cardstock bottle caps (so weird) raw chipboard acrylic alphabets and decorations (Doodlebug and KI had a lot) metal everything - I miss Making Memories paper flowers- so many paper flowers stitched fabric flowers (Basic Grey and Yellow Bicycle) See-through plastic shapes and letters (Making Memories and Heidi Swapp) There are brads now but they used to be included in almost every line Remember the Architecture brand of stuff- all kind of mini architecture pieces? Very cool. Junkitz had that zipper, which was insane.
What other embellishments do you remember?

Yes, all the embellishments seem the same, which is probably because AC has taken over in the scrapbooking world.
I like all the different embellishments. It seems the styles come around, but the embellishments have not followed suit.

Oh yes!!! I miss all of that good stuff so much! I have fond memories of Sassafras Lass adhesive back buttons and the foldable paper flowers, which I loved so much.
About 7 or 8 years Bo Bunny had several lines that had a filmstrip embellishment...it was wide, transparent plastic, and had images/icons from the collection inside each of the frames. I loved it so much.
I also loved all the metal embellishments.
I would love to see something different come out. I really like to cluster and layer so I'm always on the lookout for fun embellishments even if I don't buy the matching papers.

I miss the variety - not just of designs but of embellishments and colours and alot of today's lines are same-same...
I'm not a HUGE embellisher but I did like the coordinating alphabets and flowers and brads

When I think about unique embellishments Maya Road, 7 Gypsies, and Making Memories comes to mind. But really, every scrapbook company had embellishments that were unique to the company. If you are into vintage, TH still offers an eclectic selection.

I remember the advent of "lumpy stuff" as we used to call it at first. My scrap bestie was at the forefront and I was appalled frankly. Then I went on to look at just about anything as an embellishment. I used those glass pebbles on pool pages, sea shells, an egg dipper on an egg dying page, paper clips and other office supplies, buttons of course, even jewelry. Heck I had an entire brooch on a page.
Of course some years later a whole lot of that lumpy stuff made big dents in other pages in albums but I never removed it except maybe that brooch! Rusty Pickle stuff and Tim Holtz gears and such I don't think I used much of it but I did use the Architecture stuff. I loved Junkitz and still have not just a few packs of that tiny stuff. I still use charms on my pages from time to time.

And lots of felt embellishments, BG had the woolies, and I think Sassafrass might have had something similar, and MM used to do the felt flowers (and leather).

I've been thinking on more - I also miss more generic embellishments (and lines for that matter) where there wasn't really a theme (or if there was it was fairly subtle - mostly colours vs images) and you could use them for pretty much anything -no random pizza slice or candelaria or zebra but flowers and brads and stars and basics that mix and matched. Like this Love, Elsie example from 2007

I want those Sassafras "foldable" flowers back! Me too! In the worst possible way. I can't imagine that they would be that hard to manufacture, and I would snap them up in large quantities.

Those zippers! I made a layout with the zipper opening up with a picture peeking out and the damn zipper rusted so I ended up throwing the layout away. Magic Mesh - I remember not wanting to pay all that money for a little bit of it so I made my own with the drywall tape and then never ended up using them on layouts. So dumb of me! The bottle caps were so bulky, even when I "smashed" them flatter they were still so bulky. I do miss all those clear/opaque plastic elements, I think I have a few tucked away somewhere.

Wood veneer. I used it constantly and I bought so much of it. I've been keeping my pages pretty flat lately with just stickers and diecuts. Maybe my person stash busting challenge needs to be to get out the wood veneer.

I loved all the unique ephemera!
What I miss most and wish she would bring back, is the Heidi Swapp Ghost Shapes. Those were some of my all-time faves! I think I still have a couple random pieces in my stash but I sure would like some more!

Remember all the mistable die cuts, with the resist embossing?
Heidi Swapp had a lot of it when her Color Shine sprays were first introduced. I think I might have some from when she was a brand with two other ladies, a Margie something and...? House of 3 maybe? It was when Tattered Angels was a big thing.
I think I've used exactly 3 of those diecuts. I should play with those and my Distress Oxides!

And I've used distress oxides on those mistables, painting it and just rubbing it on and it works beautifully.

I have some digitals from Heidi during her House of 3 days - those were great.

Maybe my person stash busting challenge needs to be to get out the wood veneer. I love wood veneer. For a long time I resisted because it isn't archival, but then I realized no one was going to want my scrapbook pages in the future, anyway, so then wood went everywhere. I have so many shapes and bring them out all of the time. I'm glad I went nuts when that was the rage. I use them raw or I use ink or mist to color them. Kaisercraft still releases wood shapes. I saw they had some new ones in Scrapbook.com, so I think the space oriented one will soon be a part of my stash. I love all of the Australian plants and animals, too, but I'm not sure how I would use them. I think a good deal of the wood shapes were from Studio Calico, Maya Road, and Kaisercraft. Maya Road used to have tons of different embellishments. I liked the variety. Something I have used a lot of is charms. Paige Evans usually releases charms but they are crazy expensive. I just go on Amazon and buy big bags of them cheap. I use a lot of animal, ocean, snowflake, and sports ones. So cute.
