I forgot to say where I put my PL cards. I use photo boxes. I put the 4x6 cards in front and stagger the 3x4 cards behind. I made tabbed dividers. I punched out a small circle that corresponds to that color category. I also use pencil boxes for 4x6 cards and an index card holder for 3x4 cards. It's not streamlined but they are all together and labeled.

Bumping this up because I'm finally starting to organize all my PL cards. I was thinking about organizing by manufacturer, then by color, journaling card, theme (holiday, travel, birthday, etc). For the one off cards or random paper I've cut down to use in PL, I'm going to organize by color/journaling/etc.
How has your organization helped you use your cards? Or what's not working for you?

I just reorganized mine. I don’t have a lot, but more than enough. I have them organized by theme/type with manufacturers mixed together. My categories:
Journaling Day/Month/Calendar/time Icon (some type of picture or icon) Patterned Stripes (I have lots of KP cards!) Numbered/list Currently (-ing words) Weather Word or phrase Food Animal/critter Holiday

I only have one container and I mix the sizes together within the categories.
I have:
feminine masculine wedding travel outdoors summer spring children birthday basic (which is my catch-all category) card sentiments
I find if I'm looking for a specific type of icons/phrase, it's easy to find in the theme sections and I have few enough cards that if I'm looking for a specific colour to layer with, I can just flip through. I'm not a pocket scrapper though.

I've reorganised mine since I posted on the original thread, although I still separate the ones I keep with my themed supplies, which are still Christmas, travel, birthday, and food, and still divide them by journaling or non-journaling.
Journaling cards have no order to them and are stored in with my labels and other journaling type pieces. When I want one I just pull out the two stacks and flip through them until I find something that works.
The non-journaling cards have been separated by colour. I have pulled out the super themed cards, things like weather images, bad day sentiments, one with a mermaid, a couple of music themed cards, etc. These are in their own group in front of the colour pile. I will usually flip through this first if one of these cards might work, then go to my colours. I also have a multi-coloured section where I store things like rainbow stripes, or a word card that has several colours. I keep quote cards and plain patterns all mixed together, as I never know what might end up working on my page, and my stash is not so large that I have to flip through more than two dozen cards on any given colour.
Since sorting by colour I'm better able to see what colours I'm using and what is being ignored and I'm finding that I'm more likely to use cards that had previously been overlooked because they were at the bottom of the pile and I'd usually find something that worked before I got to them.

I completely forgot to mention how I organize cards that don't fit the color categories. I have containers for words, grids, and dates.
For 3x4 cards, I use these.
For 4x6 cards, I use pencil boxes.
I'm bad at remembering to look at the word cards.
