Mine are in a Variera white box from Ikea in my cube shelves. I tend to not use the smaller pads so much so it has worked out to be a perfect size for what I own. I sort them by most used themes first and the extra space down the side I use for the specialty pads and Halloween.

I have them in a 12 x 14 iDesign fridge bin. That bin is stored in the bottom half of a Kallax.

Mine are stored upside-down in bins (ETA standing on their spines). I can flip through them easily this way without ever removing them from the bin. I have some cloth bins now, but the deep shoe containers from the Container Store worked perfectly for the 6x6 pads!

I do take apart my 12x12 pads, never thought about doing that to my 6x6, I'll have to think on that. I don't buy many 12x12 pads...but love the 6x6 for card making.
I want to check out the Container Store larger shoe bins and am planning a trip there this weekend. I was super intrigued by the video posted on the PL card storage thread to check out the shoe bins. I'll have to bring a 6x8 pad and some PL cards with me (Mom's suggestion on the other thread).

I use them almost exclusively for card making and it’s nice to have the coordinating papers already chosen.

I have found a new way to store mine, and it has worked great so far and I'm using them!
I have 3 fridge bins, turned horizontal so the 6x6 pads fits 2 side by side, with about 15 pads on each side. I have each horizontal bin side by side at the front of my standing workstation, so I can flip thru them. Also, for misc paper shares I've done, I have them stored in between the fridge bins, so they stand up. This includes the card base (not scored or folded).
I tried to upload a picture, but I get an error that the site storage is full.
