If he is @stevebearnson on Twitter, he followed some folks who were pretty vocal against certain public Covid-19 measures. Also, lots of references to Joe Rogan, retweeting of Tucker Carlson from some of those accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if he were unvaxxed.

Condolences to Lisa. Having come into the SB game later on, I'm not really familiar with her work but know of her name and general impact on the craft she has had.

Oh, that's so sad. I was such a fan of Lisa Bearnson back when I used to read Creating Keepsakes from cover to cover. I will keep the family in my thoughts. Thank you for letting us know.

Very sorry to hear that. I don't like the conservative mindset that leads to these things - and by the same token, when I hear of deaths like this I see that some of these folks are victims, too. Tucker Carlson doesn't give a damn about his listeners, for example. He just enjoys fomenting hate & playing on people's fears & insecurities.

I'm not sure why politics and conservatism were brought into the discussion. I didn't mention either of those. I simply pointed out the following of dubious accounts retweeting pundits and messaging that have heavily impacted the outcome of the pandemic. I see someone following accounts with constant tweeting and retweeting of subjects like anti (and I quote here) "face cage" messaging, I see a red flag. Don't really care what they identify as politically in the end. I'm also not American (or a US resident) so the American politics debate that was brought up is definitely not my go-to frame of thinking or interpretation of information in this pandemic either. We don't even really discuss "conservatives" as a political label where I live.

As for the matter of political affiliation and vaccination status: the US does break down heavily in those terms. In autumn 2021, the vaccination status broke down as 92% Democrats vs 56% Republicans in the US. (source) One can nitpick over the actual percentage of conservatives among those identifying as Independents (68% vaxxed by autumn '21) but the numbers do support a significant difference. In my country, the greatest number of Covid-19 vaccine refusals come from both extremes (right and left), not one particular party or general political affiliation (we also don't have bipartisanship). Anyhoo, I wasn't talking about conservatives. It was about news sources, particular messaging and frequency of said messaging. But it was an easy US bias assumption to make. 

57 is young and a loss of many years of life. One of the accounts followed by @stevebearnson from Utah says that it's not about the lifespan but about the "healthspan" (don't ask), I still think it's terrible to lose 2-3 decades of life, especially to those left behind. If someone reading this didn't get vaccinated or boosted, reconsider. It might not keep Covid-19 completely at bay but it very likely will keep the ventilator and imminent death away.

Hope your friend gets better soon, scrappymeg ! As the medical professionals say: the vaccine prevents the vast majority of significant worsening of the disease. *high five for science*
