My DH, Terry, passed away peacefully in hospice care at the hospital Saturday. He had battled renal cell carcinoma for nearly 15 years.
He was admitted to the hospital from the clinic 2.5 weeks earlier.
Our daughter, son, and grandchildren were able to get here and we all stayed with him in his room overnight. He died with us holding him.
I am broken and relieved at the same time.

Oh mikklynn, I’m so sorry. You have been very quiet about this, I think. I’m so glad he was surrounded by love when he passed, and I’m terribly sorry for your loss. |

I wish I could hug you, mikklynn. 15 years is a long and brave battle to lead. I'm glad you all managed to come together and comfort him and each other in his final hours. I hope this final night united as a family will bring you all the strength and knowledge that you will eventually get through this grief. Until then, please accept my heartfelt condolences. He died with us holding him. I am broken and relieved at the same time. I am just so very sorry. You were so helpful to me when my dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Your suggestions on foods he can eat not eat etc. were so so helpful. My heart is broken for you and your family. I’m so happy that you were able to be with him because that meant everything to our family also |

Friend, what a struggle it has been. Each day from here on will be different. Some good and some not so good. I know you prepared for this eventuality but the reality can still be jolting. None of us will ever know what you, personally, are feeling but please know that many of us can relate to your grief. Let our little "Pea" family wrap our arms around you now. We all care.

I am so very sorry for your loss. It is never ever easy, even when they are sick. There is some relief, yes, that they no longer suffer. Still it is difficult. My thoughts are with you and I send you thoughts of peace and comfort during this time.
