I am so very sorry for your loss. I understand your feelings of relief mixed in with your sadness. My mother spoke of this when my father passed. She had taken care of him 24/7 for so many years and knowing he was no longer in any pain or distress brought a calmness to her.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear this. After 15 years of caring for him, I’d imagine your sense of loss is huge, and the adjustment to not caring for him will be difficult. Sending many warm hugs. We’re here for you any time.
