Scrapbook Generation Sketch SocietyIt sounds like Allison's 6x6 paper pad facebook groups but this is Debbie's group and there are 12 sketches instead of 20 and some other differences as well. Are you thinking of joining? I loved Allison's facebook groups. They kept me scrapping every week and trying something new which was really nice especially during the first summer of the pandemic. The second, too, now that I think about it.

I bought the download since I knew I would get my money's worth. HAven't joined the group yet. I do love that each one is a double page sketch.

Sorry to be a grumble gus, but I so wish this kind of stuff wasn't FB based. I'd be so much more willing to spend the $$. I know you don't have to do the FB part, but sounds like there are exclusives if you do. I just wish we could get away from FB as a platform for stuff like this.

I know a few people that hate supporting FB. The download is kind of pricey for just the 12 sketches at $15 (price of the regular 20 sketch books in paper form). I will say that even though I do love the sketches (and many can be seen on YT as final products and not sketches), I love the community of FB for these classes. I think as long as FB is technically free, these companies will continue to use it since it get so many people to join and FB is so easy to join.

If anyone is interested, there are additional 12 sketches that are basically a variation of the original sketch with a nice sized journal space instead of a photo. A third set of downloads offers the actual journal cards for the different sizes. These are all available on the FB group page, not from the SG store.

Have you checked out the group yet? I'm wondering how active this group will be without a set sketch to work on every week. I know that not everyone completed a layout every week in Allison's fb groups but it worked for me. I'm still going back and forth on whether I'll buy. Sorry to be a grumble gus, but I so wish this kind of stuff wasn't FB based. I'd be so much more willing to spend the $$. I don't love fb and I only use it for a few groups.

I have the same feeling which is actually one of the reason I'm passing on this and have with other classes from various vendors. I no longer use FB for personally reasons and wish that businesses would use different formats. I did Allison's 6x6 and missed the exclusives from FB. It would be nice to just offer them to everyone at least via email or downloads elsewhere. I understand why they do it, but oh I don't like it!

We have a rule at my work that if you are on FB and a co worker wants to be your friend, you have to let them. Most people I work with are not on FB for this reason. It's supposed to be so people don't feel excluded, but I don't need my co workers to be virtual friends!

It's just like when in elementary school if you want to hand out invites, you have to give them to everyone. Although the premise is understood, it isn't the best idea.

I usually like the vast majority of my coworkers, but no one at work needs to see my kids grow up or any family business if I am not comfortable with it. I'd sign up for crafting pages and just use another name. I know plenty of people who do that. I think your work should say no one at work can be friends on FB. That seems more reasonable.

Even then kids can invite who they want outside of school or after school. They don't have to invite everyone.

Have you thought about using a fake name on fb to join the group? I have...I just don't want to get found out, lol! I guess I just never thought it was worth it. I'll think about it.

I've heard stories of coworkers stalking people that have rejected their romantic advances, and this could lead to a liability. Personally, I'd block and delete people.

My work rule is I am not friends w anyone in fb. My work life is work. My personal life is personal. This way I dont have to edit myself to be careful. I dont have to be my work self on there.

My work rule is I am not friends w anyone in fb. My work life is work. My personal life is personal. This way I dont have to edit myself to be careful. I dont have to be my work self on there. When I worked in politics, I had two friends lists. Most of the people from work saw a very limited profile, but they were still my Facebook friend. Everyone else, including a few colleagues I hung out with outside of work, saw everything else. LOL, I once had a supervisor ask me if I had asked our boss for permission to have a Facebook account (back in 2007ish or so). I told her no, that I'd had an account before I started working for him, I'd have an account long after I left his employment, and I didn't post anything my mother wouldn't approve of. 😂 At my next job, I decided to not friend any of my current coworkers. I'd only friend people when they left or when I left. This made a few of my coworkers quite angry, and it made work difficult with one of them. At my last job, I friended anyone who asked, but after I got let go, I unfriended many of them. LOL, a few of them I moved to a limited list for a while, and then I finally got rid of them around Thanksgiving. Work and Facebook are definitely tricky things!! _____________ Back to the topic, I've enjoyed the previous SG FB classes, so I will probably sign up for this one too. I believe Allison is working on a new one, so I'm excited for that one!

I’m wondering if I should wait for Allison’s next fb group. I liked the structured approach. Maybe I need someone to tell me what to do every week. 😁 But I don’t know if her new class will be exactly like the last two.

Thanks for discussing Scrapbook Generation's new sketch ebook! I thought I might clarify a few things.
First, the Facebook group that is a perk of the ebook purchase is nothing like Allison's Facebook group classes. Her groups/classes are structured, and the amount of extra information she provides is amazing both in quality and quantity. Even if I weren't her mom, I would think that.
The Sketch Society Facebook group with me is basically a place to share layouts based on the sketches in the ebook, and in doing so, get inspiration from others. There are two bonus items once you are in the group: one - I revised the 12 sketches to include much larger journaling areas so there are 12 full-sized additional sketches; two - I designed journaling block printables for the nine different sizes used in the sketches.
This ebook/Facebook group is probably a one-time thing for me because of the time constraints of a small family business. I had these 12 sketches and layouts from another SG project that didn't happen, and wanted to be able to use them to benefit our business. The Facebook group, with sketch revisions and printables, was a way to add value to the product.
I get it that some don't like Facebook. There are things I don't like about it either. But from a business standpoint, it has been a wonderful thing for us. It's where people are. So by being part of Facebook, we are able to join them - where they are - and form communities of people who love scrapbooking. Some of the groups SG hosts are more modest in size, but some are huge. We have over 9,000 people in our SG Scrap Squad Facebook group, and it is a wonderful, no-drama place where we inspire, share, learn, and have monthly virtual crops. I don't know of anywhere else that we could do that on that scale.
So...thanks for interest in the Sketch Society ebook and Facebook group. We always appreciate that!
