Is there a recent thread? My search skills are sadly lacking.
Anyway, I'm reorganizing my craft room and have expanded/taken over (Ha!) our upstairs office while I've got the craft room in total disarray. (not that it's ever really neat)
The light in this upstairs bedroom is not great. There is a window, but the days are so grey right now it's not much help. There is a ceiling fan with lights and I'm going to see if my DH can change those out with some brighter LED bulbs. The overhead light casts a shadow and that's a problem. I'm also currently using a beside table lamp on the desk. It helps, but I think the lamp shade is too dark and cuts out too much light to be of much use.
So - I seriously need a crafting/task appropriate desk lamp. I need something relatively bright because I'm somewhat vision impaired. I've been seeing ads for the new Cricut Bright 360 lamp but it's pricey - $199 for the desk version. Does anyone have a task/crafting/scrapping desk lamp that provides desk wide coverage that you really like and would recommend? I'm willing to pay for a good light, but I think the Cricut Bright lamp is too new to have many reliable reviews (other than individuals that received them free from Cricut).
TIA

The table top version is affordable and gives off very bright light - I use it when I am scrapping.
I have a floor model version too but it is more pricey - I use that one more when I am in the living room and cross-stitching, crocheting and knitting.

I have a desktop OTT light that I've had for years and another OTT light that flips up to turn on that I take along to crops. Both work great.

OTT lights! Yes, that’s the brand I heard about years ago. I have a knock off version from Costco that’s on my computer desk downstairs. It’s pretty decent for that use, but I’m thinking a genuine OTT would probably be a better option. I’ll look into them.
Thanks.

**GypsyGirl** recommended a desk lamp to me that I'd love to buy once I replace my current desk. I bought this FLOOR LAMP four years ago and I like it a lot for crafting both at my desk (beading, cardmaking, sewing) and in a chair (embroidery, crochet) but I like the low-profile of the one she suggested. Hopefully she'll see the tag and reply as I forgot to write down what it was!

The brand is Daylight Company and I've been very pleased with the quality of the lamps I have. The models I have are the Slimline 3 Table and Slimline 3 Floor, as well as the Halo Go portable rechargeable lamp. The oldest one is 5 years old, the newest is 3 years, all purchased from the quilt festival where the pricing is usually pretty good. Prior to these I used Ott lights. Those are good, but the Daylight seems to be brighter and clearer to me. It's just a matter of personal preference. They have several models to choose from.

I purchased an "architect" light that clamps onto my desk and is SERIOUSLY adjustable over my desk - I LOVE IT. I'm very glad I made this purchase although it was more expensive than any other lamp I've bought.... this is the canadian amazon, might be cheaper in the US? I found it because peas were showing off their "phive" lamps which looked amazing but this one was less expensive. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07KGNNT5L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also use a Phive lamp. I had to buy a base since the clamp is too small to fit my desk. Best lamp I’ve ever used for scrapping. It casts enough light to fully cover my work surface. I also love that you can adjust the brightness of the light. Worth every penny.

I've always used OTT lights - desk/task & floor - in my craft room.

I use an OTT light I found at Tuesday Morning. It was around $100 for list price and $29 at TM. Perhaps check out a discount store in town and then look up the reviews.

I shared the Phive lamp with the peas a few years ago. My DH who is an engineer got it for me for Xmas. He saw coworkers using it for working on plans. It is awesome! The much longer bulb makes a big difference when you are working on more than what is at your finger tips.

I switched the bulbs in my ceiling fan to daylight bulbs and that was a complete game changer for me.

I switched the bulbs in my ceiling fan to daylight bulbs and that was a complete game changer for me. I looked up after I posted asking about a desk lamp and realized there is a bulb missing from one of the light sockets in the fan light! Of course it’s right over the desk. No wonder it’s dark in here. Doh. I’m thinking the other bulbs might be LED or maybe daylight bulbs. I don’t do ladders, so I need to see when my DH can take a look and see what kind of bulbs and change or add the missing one.

I've been struggling with the light on my craft table for a while. I was using 2 Ott table lights that I bought on sale at JoAnn's years ago. They never got the light where I wanted it. If the light was in the right place, there was little room to craft.
On the recommendations of the peas, I bought a Phive lamp. I just got it and I love it. It clamps to the table and the extension arm gives me the ability to put the light in the exact right place.
Thanks for the reviews and recommendations, peas. You've helped me tremendously!
