I am 50, with very dry skin, and I think I am in need of a good night cream. I currently use CeraVe night cream but wondering if I should be using something to target my aging skin?? Do I need to add a serum, maybe??
For daytime, I am using Josie Maran Milk and her face butter. Yes, I need to layer two moisturizers in order to combat my dry skin. Our Wisconsin winter weather is not any help, either, lol.
Any products out there you are loving?

I’m 51 and I have combination skin. I love Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore. It’s the only cream that hasn’t broken me out. It’s pricy though. I got a sample somewhere and was sold. Now if I could only find a eye cream that doesn’t bother my eyes. I’ve tried them all and I get puffy, swollen eyes the next morning. So damn frustrating.

I got a sample of Clinique Smart Night cream, and really liked it. I break out easily and have to be careful about creams. But this stuff was really nice. They have a few different night creams, too. It’s a bit pricey, but it lasts awhile.

No, I have never used any Retin A products. I do use sunscreen daily.

I’m really liking L’Oréal Wrinkle Expert with retino peptides.

I use Philosophy. I use their moisturized with sun screen for day time and I use the Renewed Hope for night time. Love them both!

No, I have never used any Retin A products. I do use sunscreen daily. I think Curology has a 7 day free trial, but it might be worth it. My prescription has Azaelic acid, niacinimide, and retin A. Tha hado labo has Hydrolauronic acid and the cerave cream has lots of ceramides, t makes my skin feel so much plumper than any of the face creams which is why I love it. Plus its cheap. These are all really good for anti aging.

I have super dry skin. At night, I layer on Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Serum, then a layer of either The Ordinary's Lactic Acid 5% + Hyaluronic Acid or their Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (I alternate each night between the two). I finish with Estee Lauder's Night Wear Plus moisturizer. If I am feeling especially dry, I pat in a light layer of facial oil like The Inkey List's squalene oil

I alternate between a retinol serum and a lactic acid serum, use an eye cream and Creave Night Cream for my pm routine. I’ve tried a lot of night creams and actually really like the Cerave one, especially for the price. In the day I’ve been using Peach and Lily serums and moisturizer. The combination of day and night routines has worked really well for my very dry skin.

I still love my Olay Regenerist cream for night. When I'm feeling dry, I add some niacinamide serum.

Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream is great. I use that at nights, and a few nights a week, I slug with Aquaphor. I also use prescription tretinoin, which is fantastic but isn't going to help with dryness (and will probably make it worse at the beginning - but is worth it in the long run). Plus COSRX Full Fit Propolis Synergy toner (propolis is great for rosacea and hydration) and Biossance Squalane + Copper Rapid Plumping Peptide Serum

I'm a diehard Origins fan. I use High-Potency Night-a-Mins™ Resurfacing Cream with Fruit-Derived AHAs for night and the GinZing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream for day if I'm not wearing any makeup. It's a little too moisturizing for under makeup IMO. I wear a lighter weight one for the days I do wear makeup.

I swear by Lancome Genefique serum and night cream. I switch up my cleanser, sunscreen, and eye creams, but not my night stuff.

DH got me the JLo skin care set for my birthday and I am loving this eye cream. Not sure it would work for you but I'm definitely a fan and actually use it every night and day, which I wouldn't do before.

Have you tried the Josie Maran face cream at night? I think that is more moisturizing than the Cerave night cream.
My skin has been more dry this winter. I typically use something thicker at night since I have problems with my makeup sliding all over during the day. I was using Clinique moisture surge and love it, but just got a small container of Moisture Surge intense and have been using that. I will go back to the regular gel cream in the summer. I have a bunch of moisturizers and have been rotating to see what works best, and also like Josie Maran whipped face butter and use that at night sometimes as well. I use serums that have active ingredients in them.

I’ve been using one since December that I love. It’s Prai 24k Gold Wrinkle Repair Night Creme, and it feels and smells glorious. I have an abscess on my cheek just now and it doesn’t irritate it at all. Which is good, given that I always forget to avoid it when I’m applying the creme!

My eyes get heavy and want to close. And I don’t put the cream right near my eye, more the orbital bone.

Great thread! I bought so much skincare a few years ago, and only used the stuff a couple times. I do no skincare routine at all, nothing. I get overwhelmed, and don't know the order you put things on, how much time in between, etc.
I decided to throw it all out (probably expired anyways and was opened) and start with something simple. Maybe even just use a cleanser and sunscreen each day. If I do that for a month, I can add one more thing. I will try to do it this way to avoid spending hundreds just to leave it in the drawer and throw it out. :)So if I use what I got for a month, I can add one thing one. That will help with the budget too!
Same with makeup. I have so many eye shadow pallets, eye liners and mascara that are 4 yrs. old and only used a few times. My vision up close is very bad, so I can't see to put on any eye makeup. So should all that stuff be thrown out too? Does eye shadow have experation dates? I don't want to take any chances with eye makeup.

As long as it looks and smells the same I personally continue to use it. Never had any problems with that.

Another vote for Olay Regenerist, and I usually dab on The Ordinary's Hyaluronic acid and plant-based squalane first. That combo makes my skin super soft.

I still love my Olay Regenerist cream for night. When I'm feeling dry, I add some niacinamide serum. Ditto. I use this one and LOVE it. I am on my 3rd jar. Olay Regenerist Fragrance Free
