Happy Monday peas! It's a holiday here..."family day". Most people and kids have a day off. I happen to be working, but will get a day off later this week. Todays layering challenge features: SHAPES But no specific shape - pick a shape you like! The challenge is to create LAYERS of one shape, whether they be inlaid or overlapped. It's one of my favourite tricks. -By using repetition, it's easier for the eye to process -by using different sizes/colours it's interesting -by using an outline you leave more "space" (whether the space is white space, room for journaling, room for embellishment, room for title). *I create "outline" shapes or frames by using 2 punches or 2 dies together - every layout below uses this technique, except for the hearts which were exacto cut. I'm sharing hearts, stars, squares, circles and hexagons today! layout gritty kitty by kirstendrew, on Flickr layout triumphant twirl by kirstendrew, on Flickr layout weekend update by kirstendrew, on Flickr layout like bees to honey by kirstendrew, on Flickr
layout loudly lit by kirstendrew, on Flickr So the challenge is to use at LEAST THREE of the same shape nested or overlapped. The TWIST is to use at least one FRAME/OUTLINE shape rather than a solid

Fun challenge and twist! I love circles as background elements, so I am especially drawn to your second layout. I will probably use circles on my page when I do this challenge.

kitbop thank you for the layering challenge. Your cute layered squares add so much interest. They didn't lend themselves to trying them in this page, but I am keeping them in mind for the future. I have layered many, many hearts.

Hopefully this counts for the twist - the two bigger stars are outlines and the smallest is pop-dotted - and can we talk about how OLD those stickers are?

Thank you for this challenge and all the challenges during 28-4-28 kitbop. Your pages are always so wonderful and full of great ideas I'd like to incorporate. You have love in the gallery. jjpeapea, I love your page and the fun way you laugh at your romantic pursuits on Valentine’s day. Love the layered hearts. I think that sound like a wonderful way to spend that day! So cute. Linda, that big layered star is so eye-catching. I love the photo of him working away on his college classes. Many hours are spent doing that and I have never thought to take a photo of family members studying. I love seeing all the things you photograph. You are making me take more notice of ordinary things. This is mine for this challenge. This is baby Eddie. Blessing Day

I really hope this meets this challenge, kitbop. Two of stars are layered and inlaid. The others are more free floating. And I have at least one star shaped frame. Legendary adventure awaits by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Thanks for the wonderful challenge kitbop ! This is my layout. I am quite chuffed with it, and never would have thought up something like this, were it not for your awesome challenge.
