Long story, short version.
Note: I am a very, very "light" Cricut user. I use premade designs and files only. I have no desire to design my own.
The background:
Years ago I purchased a Cricut Explore. I started buying cartridges. I then 'upgraded' to a Cricut Explore Air 2, bought some more cartridges, and.... quit using my machine.
Currently:
I'm now (Feb 2022) interested in using my Cricut Explore Air 2 after years of not using it. I purchased a Cricut Joy late last year and really like it. I also subscribed to Cricut Access to have access to more pre-made files. Now I'd like to use my Cricut Air 2 so I can do more (I'm especially interested in using it to do print & cut.)
My question is:
What is the status of Cricut cartridges? I've been searching for information on how to link my previously purchased, unopened, unused cartridges to my Cricut account. I'm finding conflicting information. I remembering "linking" some cartridges to my Cricut Access account by plugging the cartridge into the Cricut Air 2. Is this still possible? I'm guessing I can still use them plugged into the Air 2, but I'd like to access the files and use some of them (I know there's limitations) possibly with my Joy.
I've read that it is no longer possible to link the cartridges to the online access account by plugging the cartridge into the Air 2. I've read that I can call Cricut to link them, others so no, that's not possible any more. (What a pain that would be!) Others say that the cartridges will no longer work with any machine. Ugh. I'm still in the process of setting up an area for my MacBook Pro and my Cricut Explore Air 2. I've also read that the Air 2 will not work with the MacBook Pro. Oh my.
Does anyone have any insight into the status of the cartridges or where to start to look for accurate information before I'm ready to quit before I even begin?
Thanks so much for any help and advice.
