So everyone who was flipping out about masks here is now totally ok with no masks just because the CDC said so? I'm not sure you know what's actually been done and said by the CDC since the beginning of this whole thing, but I'll never trust a thing they say. I'm fine with removing masks but it's not because the CDC says so. I'm shocked at the turnabout here, is all. Yeah, the CDC changed the way the metrics are calculated. What was previously positive cases is now a metric that is based pretty much on hospital capacity. So overnight our county went from HIGH transmission to LOW. Hinky, because most people don't understand that the positivity rate hasn't gone from high to low transmission, they're just going to stop measuring/reporting that and using it as a metric. People just see their county went from red to green and think "Oh, it's over." Basically, the CDC assumes everyone is okay with getting COVID now, as long as they probably won't die. (Never mind long COVID.) We are in week 2 of mask optional at school; about half the students/staff are masking at this point (down a little from last week). I'm still wearing mine, because people are nasty and I've enjoyed not having a miserable cold every season for the last 2 years. I will continue to wear mine in stores and other crowded public spaces until I see how this plays out. The statewide mask mandate lifted today. I'm resigned to it more than I am okay with it. I'm vaccinated and boosted and at this point, what can I do? The horses are out of the gate and we as a nation never prioritized containment. It was probably never going to happen anyway. So, I'm gonna worry about me and mine and the Ivermectin-toting jerkballs are on their own.
