abcnews.go.com/Politics/cdc-ease-masking-recommendations-70-country-including-inside/story?id=83111596With the caveat that we all still need to have a care for the very young and the immunocompromised, I have to say I'm pretty happy about this - mostly because of the recommendation being lifted for schools. I'm hoping our supe will remove our mask mandate in school over the weekend. I know many of you haven't been masking for a long time anyway, and many will still continue to mask. This is a celebration for those of us who have been trying to follow CDC recommendations. That's all.

Do you know how your school will handle the students with immune issues? There was a case about this not too long ago, but I’m not sure if it has been decided yet.

I know that we will need to wear ours a lot longer than the general public, and are fine with that. But I hope this continues drop enough, and that more treatments are approved, that the general public doesn’t need them unless they are infected (or unvaccinated but that’s just me I know it won’t happen). I just thought that with the mandate probably being lifted soon that they might have mentioned any exceptions and how they were going to be handled. When I read the article I thought maybe a classroom that could be accessed by the outside, with a restroom, might be used to at least allow the students to be in the school environment if not in their classrooms. But then the issue of what teachers and staff would need to be available…it just sucks all-around and I was curious about any solutions that may have been considered.

I don't think mask mandates are good for the majority of people and not all that helpful any more for those of us who are immunocompromised because so many refuse to wear them or wear them improperly.

Do you know how your school will handle the students with immune issues? Given that my daughter's school can't seem to figure out what to do with her asthma and a kid who wears too much body spray, I'd guess at our school, not a damn thing. (Daughter is having severe, almost-call-911 asthma attacks that are sending her home from school every other day due to a kid in her biology's class's body spray. We're about to start flinging around the big words like ADA and IDEA, because my kid missing half of every other school day is not getting her an education.) Sorry, I didn't mean to make it about us, but I truly mean what I said. Schools won't have a clue how to deal with the kids who need masking to stay in place, and I'm sure Abbott will make it extra-illegal to require anything because Abbott.

I think very few schools - none in my district - would have the space or staffing for that. We do have a district-wide online option for kids who are at severe risk. I don’t think there’s going to be any feasible way to include those students in a school setting unless they choose to take the risk of being in a regular classroom.

Do they also refuse to have peanut-free classrooms where there are kids with severe allergies?

Today was my first shift not wearing a mask in a really long time, even though we haven’t had mandates here for quite a while. I did put a mask on while helping some customers who were wearing masks, out of respect.
But, seriously, I’m so over masks, so I’m happy to be putting them behind me (for the most part.)

Any guesses on whether the FAA will go along with the new guidance and drop mask requirements in airport and on airplanes? I really hope so.

I think I'm ready for masking to be over, but now I'll have to be extra careful about plucking my chin hairs. A mask really made that less of a priority.

We are still high, surprise, surprise. I had personally stopped wearing a mask on Tuesday when we went out to eat for the first time in 2 months. It lasted one day. Tuesday evening DH got a call that someone he was around briefly on Monday was sick and tested positive. He hasn't gone out much and I've worn a mask the last few days when I've been out. Cases are down significantly here so I hope things will lighten up soon.

I am hoping that our governor in NYS lifts for schools or gives the schools the right to. Our % is below 2% consistently

I went to the store and didn’t wear a mask for the first time - I was in the minority though. I’ll admit I’d love for the mask requirement on flights to be gone before I have to fly across the country in April.

That's great news for the vaccinated and boosted population! I wish the anti vaxxers would still have to wear masks, but they probably didn't wear them to begin with. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) My husband and I will still have to wear masks. We see people with Trump flags flying on their trucks every day, so lots of anti vaxxers here. Neither of us can afford to get covid or get sick, even if it is just like a mild cold (we are both vaccinated and boosted). He has a very busy and stressful job that he can't afford to miss work. I am taking care of our disabled/incontinent German Shepherd and it's physically and mentally exhausting enough.

Our school dropped the mask requirement this week. I'm planning to wear them for a few weeks after our spring break (next week) and will re-evaluate then. I'm more worried about colds/ stomach bugs etc especially after vacation. I have only had 1 cold in the last 2 years and that was fairly mild.
On a side note, I knew intellectually that our first graders have only ever worn masks in school. In the classroom where I work, I see the kids outside, at snack or lunch without masks so it wasn't really noticeable when our policy changed. I saw another first grader in the hallway and noticed something looked different. I even asked if he had a haircut before realizing the difference was that he wasn't wearing a mask. The majority of the times I've seen him, he had a mask on.

I’ve been at this school for two years and have never seen most of the kids without a mask.

We just flew a couple weeks ago and I really still didn't like all those people in my space for 3+ hours - I know, I know - good air filtration yada yada yada

my county is still high and likely will stay high until the end of time (in fact my half of the state is still high risk). Continuing to mask...
cdc reccomendations won't change much here as there aren't any mask mandates to begin with.
I was grateful that the estimator who was here today saw me masking and put his on.

Wow. Do they also refuse to have peanut-free classrooms where there are kids with severe allergies? It's a public HS so not really a thing by that point. They figure high schoolers know how to handle it, which I see as true to a point, but won't be the case in every situation. And that's basically the case here - DD is authorized to self-carry her inhaler, has an asthma action plan, etc. But she needs help beyond that in this case. How is that in any way acceptable? And why won’t the student just stop on their own? I’m sorry y’all are having to deal with that. And yes, Abbott. betoorourke.com/This is a newly developing situation, so to be fair, I don't think the student in question even knows. But everyone is acting like, oooh, we can't be rude and ask her not to wear it. No, but you can say you don't give a crap if my kid can breathe? I think they just don't get that it isn't an issue of not liking a particular fragrance (ironically, my daughter says she actually likes the smell!) or of it giving someone a headache (which I understand because I can have this issue). It's NO OXYGEN GETTING TO THE LUNGS, which is really not a good thing for silly things like, oh, survival. We've so far been offered the helpful suggestions of have DD wear a better mask and have her sit in a different place in the classroom. She already wears an N95 mask (because of asthma!) and sits in the far front corner of the classroom. Maybe if she just sits in a different room altogether, it's not a problem? /s

I am basically OK but I have had two notices in the past week that I have been exposed to students who tested positive, so I am not sure I am super excited quite yet.

I wear earrings every day - dangly beaded earrings, big hoops, small hoops, studs. I’ve never had an issue with masks. I don’t know why most other people have issues and I don’t (and I think I’d feel naked without earrings lol).

Last week, our governor set an end date of March 21. It'll be interesting to see if this date changes.
I'll still carry masks with me and wear them in crowds (not that I'm in crowds a whole lot).
