I can’t remember the original price for 6 avocados at Costco, but, I feel like it was $4.99. Then, they went to $6.99 a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday at Costco, they were $9.99!! I just about died! We eat a lot of avocados, but, no way am I paying that much.

Yeah, butter has gotten crazy expensive. I watched it go from about $6.50 for four pounds at Costco at one point last year (and DH thought I was insane when I bought about 16 pounds at once), up to $8 something for 4#, then $9.69, then $9.99, then $14.99. I bought one four pack at Costco Business for $13.99 last week, and last night saw it was at $11 something at regular Costco. The organic Kirkland butter was $11 for a two pound pack.

EVERYTHING. Seriously, every time I go to the store I am shocked. The lastest is an 18oz (large) package of grape tomatoes. I swear, just a few months ago they were $4.99. Now they're $7.29 And OMG, Organic ground turkey $11.99lb. Hard pass on that. I cannot wait for the local growing season. I sure hope produce prices at the farmer's markets aren't too terribly out of whack. Yikes!!!!! We just bought grape tomatoes and they were $2.99 at Aldi—but they had only a little not stacks like usual. We sat down and planned out bigger gardens this year, we bought a bunch of tomato varieties and a bunch of herbs. We cannot wait to start, but have to figure out how to keep the chipmunks away—they ruin 95% of our patio/containers gardens! We are fortunate to know a couple who has a farm, and we can go help harvest and come home with “earned” fruits and vegetables. So about those bigger gardens… I predict canning supplies might be hard to find again this year. My mom does a LOT of canning (we get blessed with the results at Christmas so I am happy she does it!), so I have been buying Ball lids when I see them. She probably has 24 dozen at this point, which should get her through both the summer (veggies) and fall/winter (meats) canning seasons. With high food prices, I’m sure those COVID gardens are going to be planted again this year.

I don't like them so I don't pay much attention.. for some reason we suspended getting them from Mexico? I'm sure if that is still in place is why they are going through the roof.

Lunch meat... Oscar Meyer sliced turkey is $7.49 a pound, which is about $2.00 more than I am willing to pay... we'll just eat peanut butter and jelly! It might just be out of season but the canatalope I wanted to buy was $3.79 at least that was not per pound, but per fruit. I also needed a can of cream of mushroom soup and it was $1.19 per can and that's for the store brand.Coffee creamer seems to still be $2.99-$3.50 (depending on brand). That would be a really acceptable price around here. I usually don't cook with canned things other than tomatoes, but I do love me some cream of mushroom soup for my hot tuna/cheese casserole or the traditional green bean casserole. I have been making that quite often lately. I bought some sliced almonds and a big bag of frozen green beans at Costco around Christmas. After finally finished the bag of green beans, I realized I still had plenty of those crispy onions and sliced almonds to use up so I bought another bag of green beans. Of course, that required more mushroom soup. I slipped over to our Albertsons, the closest grocery store to my home, and they wanted $2.89 per can for Campbells! Their store brand was $1.99. I had planned on buying several cans and I just couldn't do it. I will wait until I find a better price. I did see it in our 99 Cent store around Christmas time, but it was gone when I looked again and isn't something they usually stock. I just checked the price at Walmart and it is $1.19 for Campbells. I guess I'm hitting up the Walmart today. And now that I thought about the tuna/cheese mix, I will go ahead and pick up the ingredients for that too.

EVERYTHING! Heck the Dollar Tree is now the $1.25 Tree! I have been buying lids for canning every time I see them and have quite a stash. (My cousin and I can together so part are hers) I can't wait to get my garden in. I refuse to pay the prices in some of the grocery stores. I will buy local if possible and pay their price instead of a chain.
I found bacon last week for 4.99lb and bought 3 packages. I am hoping hams will be going on sale soon and have made room in the freezer for several.
I did have to have flour this week and it was 4.79lb and I usually pay 3.29 so a big jump there!

Reminds me to get my own and freeze them this summer. Good thing we live in the strawberry/raspberry/blueberry capital of the world! I know. I use them in my morning smoothies. Is there a TJs on the island? That's the only place I can find frozen fruit at a somewhat reasonable price.

I just spent 5 weeks in Ontario and couldn't believe the price of butter! $8 a lb. Where was this? I live in Ontario and have never seen butter for $8/lb ever. I usually buy it on sale for 2.88 -4.99/lb. I always check the flipp app. Dh just retired so I'm being more mindful to shop at the discount grocery stores and Costco. Prices for everything have gone up. London

I know there is an avocado issue right now due to the importation issue, but I use them instead of mayo on my Beyond Burger a couple of times a week and I really needed them. Although by the time these are used up, the price may be over $16 and I won't be paying that.

We can go to Bellingham, Everett, or Lynnwood. We are on the mainland at least once a week, so we stop there frequently. I'll have to check on berries! Thanks!

I'm in California and we grow avocados here! ** I did watch a documentary recently where they were were interviewing a California avocado rancher. He said they have had to shut down a couple of acres of trees because they couldn't get enough water to maintain them. It takes 74 gallons to grow one pound of avocados.

It's not food, but at the grocery store the other day, I almost fainted when I was that a 6-pack of some kind of Charmin toilet paper was almost SIXTEEN DOLLARS! We live in an older house with cranky plumbing and buy the dreaded single-ply tissue, so maybe this is normal for Charmin, but holy cow!

Dairy products are through the roof here. I have found them a lot less expensive if I purchase through Costco. There was a muffin/bread mix I liked that went up a dollar (I’ll just make my own muffins/bread for much less money). The price of meat seems to be going up as well. I try to base my menu for the week around the store circulars and buy extras of things that are on sale but despite this, I’m still paying much more than I was pre-pandemic and it’s very frustrating.

They have double rolls, mega rolls (each roll = 4 rolls) and SUPER mega rolls (each roll = 6 rolls). 😳 Those gigantic rolls only fit on the wall holder in one of my three bathrooms here at the house so I have to be careful which size rolls I’m getting. I wait for it to go on sale and then use a newspaper coupon too, and if I’m lucky Target will have a free gift card for $5-$10 if you buy three packs (any combo of TP and paper towels).

Wisconsin, so dairy still reasonable. Half gallons milk under $2, gallons over $2 but under $3. Butter $2-3/lb sometimes under $2/sale. Avacados we're just 69cents 2 (?) weeks ago.
Meat definitely up. Grape tomatoes just bought pint $1.79. But I did just see watermelons (small/medium sized) for 10 bucks. First I was surprised to see watermelon this time of year, wondered if it could possibly be good. Then saw price and thought well, I'll never know.
Pepsi (and most brands) no more finding good sales to buy for when want. Just stopped for DS as I was out, asked for some cherry Pepsi. 12 pack was $5.98 and that may have been on sale, not sure. We used to get it to have when they were 3/12. Sometimes 3/9. Not seeing that much anymore. I can definitely do without, just certain foods go with a (caffeine free diet) Pepsi in my world. Pizza for instance.
ETA when stopped for DS' cherry Pepsi, I did buy a nice looking bundle of fresh asparagus for $1.98. it's what's for dinner. Yum.

I discovered after ordering a pack that they are now altering the width of the rolls. I'm sure it saves them money, but I want that normal width, please! I have to really watch to make sure I am not ordering the narrow rolls in addition to watching that I am not getting the giant thick rolls that hit the wall because my holder isn't that far from the wall. With those, I have to leave it off the roll until I use enough to put it on. Super annoying!
