I ran to the one grocery to stock up on dairy and coffee creamer.
We buy the coffeemate flavored creamers for home and work, usually 2 for $7 ($3.50 each, regularly $3.99) oh my gosh—the were $5.29 now—the skyrocketed $1.30 in just a few weeks.
Looks like we are going to start making our own or using half-n-half!
What big price increases are you seeing?

Good luck on finding half and half. It has been hit or miss in all of the stores in my area for several months. It has been especially hard to find fat free and/or the pint size, which I prefer because the quart size goes bad before I finish it.

For a while, bacon was $10.29 per package (12-16 oz). It appears to have come down a bit now

Dairy is definitely the one area where I've seen huge price increases. I get all my dairy at Aldi and it's gotten quite expensive.

Fat based things - butter and oil are killing me right now. I use oil for cakes and butter for icing. I go through anywhere from 8-20 blocks a week, so even a 50 cent increase sucks.

Lunch meat... Oscar Meyer sliced turkey is $7.49 a pound, which is about $2.00 more than I am willing to pay... we'll just eat peanut butter and jelly! It might just be out of season but the canatalope I wanted to buy was $3.79 at least that was not per pound, but per fruit. I also needed a can of cream of mushroom soup and it was $1.19 per can and that's for the store brand. Coffee creamer seems to still be $2.99-$3.50 (depending on brand).

Totally being nosy...have you had to raise your sales prices? Have you gotten any blow back for that? It must be really difficult to judge how much of an increase to pass along.

EVERYTHING. Seriously, every time I go to the store I am shocked. The lastest is an 18oz (large) package of grape tomatoes. I swear, just a few months ago they were $4.99. Now they're $7.29 And OMG, Organic ground turkey $11.99lb. Hard pass on that.
I cannot wait for the local growing season. I sure hope produce prices at the farmer's markets aren't too terribly out of whack.

I feel your pain. I am also lactose intolerant, but luckily a little bit in my coffee doesn't bother me.

Aldi has not yet had a shortage of half/half here and that is the only dairy that I buy there (we don’t like their milk).

I price by the serving, and for 10 years my per serving price was the same. I was too nervous to rais it. I raised it in 2019, and then just raised it again for 2022. No pushback yet! And I also started charging for my sample boxes and no pushback on that either! it is hard - I’ve had so many inquiries for 2023 already and had planned to revisit things before opening books for 2023. But it was starting to be too much work to follow up with all the “I haven’t released pricing for then yet” people so I decided to stat part booking for then at my 2022 prices for now.

Dairy is definitely the one area where I've seen huge price increases. I get all my dairy at Aldi and it's gotten quite expensive. We only drink Fairlife milk, and it’s currently $3.89- $4.29 a half gallon. Which seems the norm amongst the stores we shop. A local dairy supplies our local grocery chain, so we get cottage cheese, sour cream…when they have their BOGO. I haven’t noticed a big increase in those here (yet). We get block cheese (we shred our own) from Aldi and that hasn’t gone up, and other fancy cheeses from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and specialty stores. There has been a little increase but not big enough to make us stop buying it (yet)

Do you have an Aldi’s near you? (Mushrooms are a great price there) If so, make your own cream of mushroom soup—it’s easy, fast and delicious! I slice up or dice the mushrooms, sauté them in butter, sweating them out (leave a little liquid) and add salt and a little bit 1/8 teaspoon ground thyme (a little thyme goes a loooong way). Either stir in a bit of flour and Add half/half a little at a time. If you’re gluten free, omit the flower and make a cornstarch slurry with a tablespoon of cornstarch and 1/4 cup water. Add the half and half and the slurry and heat up. You control them thickness by how much starch you add. Stays nice in fridge for about a week.

We just bought grape tomatoes and they were $2.99 at Aldi—but they had only a little not stacks like usual. We sat down and planned out bigger gardens this year, we bought a bunch of tomato varieties and a bunch of herbs. We cannot wait to start, but have to figure out how to keep the chipmunks away—they ruin 95% of our patio/containers gardens! We are fortunate to know a couple who has a farm, and we can go help harvest and come home with “earned” fruits and vegetables.

Eggs are outrageous, it’s close to $3 dz and those were always under $1.75 dz. A gallon of milk (regular store brand) is almost $4. Aldi used to be super cheap. If their prices are this high, I’m curious what the regular grocery store is.

I work in manufacturing. Just yesterday I had to give all of my customers a 5% - 5.9% increase on the products we supply. This is because our manufacturing & raw material costs have gone up, not to mention the transport costs, which are huge compared to pre-COVID. So if my customers' spend has gone up by 5% or more, you can bet that you're going to see a similar price rise in the end product eg. the jar of peanut butter or the wine bottle on the shelf.
The coffee beans that I buy cost $27 per bag, and I would always wait for it to be on special and buy it for $19-$22. It has now gone up to $30. I can still get it for $22 on Amazon Prime, so I won't ever buy it from the supermarket again.

Deli meat. I like to get honey ham from the deli counter so I can get it shaved thin/falling apart. I think a pound cost me $12-ish.
Canned soup, cereal, and milk....has gotten higher.

It’s crazy!

It's not even a half gallon, it's 52 ounces and here that 52 ounces is between $3.69-$4.99 depending on the store. I can't handle it anymore and switched to Costco brand lactose free milk. It tastes better and it's the same price as Fairlife but for a full half gallon.

I just checked my Aldi receipt and my blocks of cheddar and Colby were $1.79 each, so only 10 cents increase from the last time I purchased. I have noticed that they don’t have as much cheese as they normally do. Eggs were $1.64 a dozen. At Whole Foods I bought burrata for $4 a container with 4 pcs At another store they had a great sale on fresh mozzarella—perlini, bocconcini, Ciliegine, Ovolini—all for 2/$5 a container! I was in heaven and bought a lot of cheese! Lol

Reminds me to get my own and freeze them this summer. Good thing we live in the strawberry/raspberry/blueberry capital of the world!

Everything seems to be up. We can get close to what we want most of the time by switching brands, stores, or specifics of an item (Say, buying one variety of crackers instead of another.), but overall our weekly grocery bill keeps growing. Ugh. But because we are changing up what we're buying so often I can't think of any one particular item that we've noticed to have jumped higher, faster than the others.

I usually buy it on sale for 2.88 -4.99/lb. I always check the flipp app. Dh just retired so I'm being more mindful to shop at the discount grocery stores and Costco. Prices for everything have gone up.
