Would you buy a scan and cut from the Amazon Warehouse if it is in like new condition? The cost savings would be about $55 on a $299 machine.
I have a Cricut but have been wanting a scan and cut to cut out printables and stamped images. So it’s not something I really need.
I just don’t want problems with the machine.

Possibly. I would want to know what their return policy is, though, in case it isn’t actually like new.
A lot of people who have never had an electronic cutter will buy one, but not be willing or able to take the time to learn how to use it. Or they feel overwhelmed when they do try, so they return it. It really could be like new, but I’d still want to know if it could be returned if defective or damaged.
That’s a great price, but still more than I’d want to risk if non-returnable.
I am a stamper, and I got tired of buying matching die sets, so I bought a Scan N Cut two or three years ago. No regrets! It’s a wonderful machine, but I have learned that it does better with some stamps than others. There are work arounds for the stamps that don’t scan well for cutting, though. I haven’t used mine for cutting designs from paper. I only use it for my stamped images.

I bought mine this way from Amazon. The cutting mat that came with it had ONE CUT on it. I’m guessing someone tried it one time and returned it. I have no regrets and LOVE IT. I use mine for cutting stamped images so I can “save money” on dies.

If it's free returns, I would totally do it.

Do you know if it would change the warranty for the item if you were to need it? Being able to return due to issues would be a must for me.

Yes, I would. Almost everything I have bought from amazon warehouse deals has been a straightforward returned item where someone took it out of the box, decided they didn't want it and sent it back. Sometimes the box has some damage. I have had one item I decided I didn't want and returned it to amazon no problem, for free because of Prime.
My husband and I both saved 10-20% buying expensive noise cancelling headphones as warehouse deals and have been so happy we did. There shouldn't be any reason I can think of why it would affect the warranty (any more than buying an open box at a retail store would - would it??). If the machine doesn't work Brother should stand behind it but I've also had no issues with my SNC and didn't use it often enough in the first couple of years to worry that much about the warranty anyway.
I would recommend that if you do buy it you give it a good workout right away, both to make sure it works well and you're happy with it within the return window AND because the sooner you can get used to using it and make it part of your workflow the more likely you'll end up getting your money's worth from it.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I've bought Amazon Renewed bluetooth headphones, and they are fantastic! I've had them for at least 4 years now, and they work perfectly. They were also half the price of the brand new ones.

It arrived! It was probably only used once. It had maybe one cut on the mat. All accessories and instructions were there. Having fun with it. So far I find it easier to create than a Cricut. It cuts fast too.
I am struggling a bit though with cutting a printable. I had a page of butterflies that got cut well but the antenna were way too thin. I am trying to figure out how I can make cutting areas in some spots.
I plan on having the scan n cut and the Cricut cut out the same svg.

I can see people getting frustrated and returning them after little to no use.
