I'm browsing Amazon and came across this: www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNPD1VW/ref=psdc_565108_t1_B00KB3VCQ [HASH]customerReviews It's an Acer C70 Chromebook for $149.00 (sorry don't know how to add a clickable link) I'm thinking about it for DH. The only thing I know about Chromebooks is that they don't use traditional PC programs, they use apps that are web-based. If my dh only goes onto AOL and and a few newspapers and reads their stories and searches the web for products he needs, would a chromebook be ok for him? He doesn't do any word processing, no gaming, no nada. This Acer C720 has amazing reviews and is only $149.00 - I'm about to go for it. It does give you access to the intenet, right, not just web-based apps that you purchase?

My DH has a Samsung Chromebook. He only uses it for internetting (is that a word?). The OS is a slightly different from Microsoft, in that you use Google based browser and programs. But it's small and light. He's happy with it.

Yes, but just to be specific, you already have to have Internet access in your home. The Celeron processor makes me cringe, but I see it is highly rated and a lot of people seem to be happy with it... The only thing about a device like this is that you can't do more with it if you wanted to, so it is limiting in that respect. But if that is all he is using it for, then by all means, go for it. I will say that I have no personal experience with a Chromebook, so there's that.
