Good morning.
Today we celebrate our very own, cadoodlebug. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! Each day you bring positivity, encouragement and a fun meme for us to enjoy. May your year be truly special. Happy Birthday!
I am off to run some errands this am. Then it's back home to rest, of course. I'm not sure what to make for dinner. I'll let you know once I come up w/a plan. Last night dh had rechauffe pizza, so I should cook something tonight.
What's on your menu?
Today's question: If today was your birthday what would you want for dinner? This is a redundant question for our birthday girl.
Happy, enjoyable and easy week for all.

Happy Birthday cadoodlebug! 🎈🎂🎈 Hope you have a wonderful day filled with things you love! If it was my birthday I would want steak or tacos. Or steak tacos! 😂 Dinner tonight will be lobster ravioli (sounds fancier than it is- it’s just from Costco) salad, and garlic bread. Have a happy Monday, all.

Happy Birthday cadoodlebug ! I'm back (and tired) from another scrap retreat weekend. I got quite a bit done, and am looking forward to another weekend coming up Thursday! For my birthday, I almost always want a giant ribeye steak, medium rare, and good old crinkle fries. Dinner tonight might be some pasta dish, I was already looking on Pinterest for some sort of idea this morning...

Happy Birthday cadoodlebug 🎂🥂🎆❤ If today was my birthday I would want dinner out at Bohemian Woodfire on their patio. Probably a grilled caeser salad, Cacio e Pepe pasta and several gypsy roses. So last nights steak dinner will be cooked tonight instead. I went in to the kitchen at 6 to get it started yesterday and knocked an entire glass jar of artichokes off the counter. By the time I wrangled the animals into the den, got a piece of glass from Ollie and cleaned up my mess I was over it all and ordered a pizza.

Happy birthday cadoodlebug! I hope you get something good for dinner tonight! My birthday dinner would be some pasta. Like a lovely, cheesy, saucy manicotti. With a delicious glass of red wine. Garlic bread too. Because there's just no such thing as too much carby goodness. kelly8875 did you get a lot done? I'm jealous of all your scrappy retreats. I wish I could go with you. I'm having a slow morning this morning. I think my whole day is going to be slow. Not because things at work are slow but because I'm moving slow today. I fell asleep last night on the couch at around 7:30 and then I woke up around midnight and could not fall back asleep. I finally fell back asleep around 3 am. And then of course, I got up for work today. I'm not used to such disrupted sleep. So I'm moving slow today. Dinner tonight will finally be the cheesy, BBQ chicken. It just didn't happen last night. I had a sandwich and Jeremy ate cereal. Mean Girls was just alright. I mean it was cute because we all know the story from the movie. And I think the girls had fun watching it. But it definitely wasn't the best show I've seen.

Happy Birthday cadoodlebug. I woke up really early this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I was up at 6:30. I did a rapid covid test before my morning coffee (negative) and then went out before 9 for my walk. I had a dentist appointment at midday, to fit a new crown where I broke the old one a few weeks back. The appointment itself was fine, but since the anaesthetic wore off, my mouth has been really sore, so I am now dosed up on tylenol. Later this afternoon I had to go out again to have my PCR test, which I need for entry to Australia. I will get the result of that sometime tomorrow - they promise by 4pm next day, but the few times DH and I have used this test center in the past it has always been quicker than that. Dinner tonight is veal steaks, pasta and sauce, and whatever vegetables still need to get eaten before we leave. If it were my birthday, I would like to be going to my favourite Italian restaurant, where I would order truffle pasta, then share the Fiorentina steak with DH. I might even lash out and have tiramisu or pannacotta for dessert. It is also a good thing it isn’t my birthday, as I am not sure I want to eat a huge steak with how my mouth feels right now.

sueg , rest as much as you can. Keeping your blood pressure down will help the tooth pain. I learned that from the dental assistant after a bad root canal. I'm excited for you about going home. Woohoo. jeremysgirl , I'm sorry that you had such a rough night. I hope that today will stay calm for you. I didn't answer my own question: In the past, my favorite birthday dinner would be anything that included mushrooms, pasta and a cream sauce. As a child, I loved the French veal dish in a light cream sauce w/mushrooms at my favorite French restaurant in my hometown. I stopped eating veal for moral reasons many decades ago, but that dish sounds good.

Tonight will be the sheet pan dinner I didn’t make on Thursday, with chicken sausage and whatever veggies still look nice. Birthday dinner … I think I would like the one dinner I can never exactly have again … chicken enchiladas, New Mexican rice, frijoles, and calabacitas (zucchini) all made by my late MIL. Mine is never as good as hers was. Happy birthday, cadoodlebug! Hope it’s a nice day for you. It’s one of my (many) nieces’ birthday today, too. Addendum: I didn’t even manage to hit Post on this before my son informed me he’s bringing over another dinner box tonight. I have now imposed a 24-hr notice requirement. Tomorrow will be the sheet pan dinner, come hell or high water.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! DS is coming up on Friday for a 3-day weekend to celebrate my birthday. DH wanted to do something special tonight and I said we'll wait until the weekend. So dinner is Sloppy Joe's. I know how much everyone here loves them. But I do, so I'm off to the chiropractor to crack these 74-year old bones!

Happy Monday my dinner friends! and Happy Happy Birthday cadoodlebug !! I was going to say if it were my birthday dinner I would have a lovely seafood dinner at an upscale seafood restaurant. But then lucyg mentioned her late MIL's dinner and that reminded me of many meals that my late ex MIL made as well, which then led me down the rabbit hole to fish fry's that her family had with fresh caught fish from MN lakes. I'm sure I'm still carrying weight from those fish fry's but oh they were delish. We had a nice time at my niece's 5oth Bday party, we spent the night at my son's house nearby. Man, was I tired yesterday, I'm not a party girl these days! I've had a pork shoulder roast in the crock pot since late last night, it's finished but on warm now, I'll make it into pulled pork soon and that's whats for dinner with a salad, I might have mine on low carb tortillas rather than bread or a bun. Wishing everyone a great start to your week!

She cooks all the food, and let me tell you, my pants are tight after 2 weekends so far, lol. I'm lucky we have the option for so many crops/retreats around her. I enjoy working on my stuff at home too, but it's nice to get out of the house and sit with friends.

Can a newcomer join in this thread? By "newcomer" I mean someone who hasn't participated in this thread before. I hate to cook so I could use some ideas, and you all seem like a friendly bunch. If it was my birthday I'd love to have anything I didn't have to cook. lol. But if I was forced to choose I think maybe it would be an outing to an Indian restaurant. I do make some pretty good Indian food, thanks to Urvashi Pitre's recipes for the Instant Pot. But, it's still not as good as from a real Indian restaurant. Because of the price of gas I'm trying to do errands only one day per week and today is not that one day. So dinner is what I can rustle up. I have a pack of sausage/brats in the freezer, and a pepper that needs to be used up. So sausage with pepper and onions, and mashed potatoes.

I'm intrigued by your comment of "this week's dinner"....do you only cook once a week? ? omg, my dream. lol. Actually, I'd never cook if I could get away with it but I figure my dh should have something to eat when he gets home from work. Pre-covid when he traveled up to two weeks at a time, four or five times every year, I did NO cooking for the entire two weeks. Or, I might cook a big pot of chili or soup the night before he left, we'd have it for dinner that night, then I'd eat it for the rest of the week. hahaha Or, I'd freeze it and have the rest the following week. Other than that, nope. Cheese and crackers, fruit, and a glass of wine... there's the perfect dinner right there.

Welcome monklady123! A lot of us don't like to cook (raises hand) If it were my birthday, I would have steak, medium rare, baked potato with butter, cheese and sour cream, a salad, and wine! Tonight I guess I will cook. I did make it through the weekend without cooking. I may be breakfast for dinner.

If it was my birthday, I would have maryland blue crabs...or alternately, maryland blue crab cakes from G&M, a restaurant outside of Baltimore.
Dinner tonight is chicken with mango salsa. Hubby will have leftover fried rice; I will have a backed potato. I will also roast a calabacitas squash.

Happy Birthday cadoodlebug Its a rainy, cold day here today. Perfect day to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a book. Unfortunately, I had to take my mom to the dentist as she doesn't like driving anywhere other than our very small town. I'm now trying to get a photo to print to give to MIL for her birthday on Thursday. My printer isn't cooperating! If it was my birthday, I'd have a ribeye steak medium rare, baked potato with sour cream and caesar salad. Something chocolate for dessert. DH made a crockpot full of chili for his supper tonight. I don't like chili so I will have leftover chicken, grilled potatoes and corn.

I'm in a goofy mood today. Welcome the tribe monklady123. Pull up a comfy chair and enjoy our table of food, support, laughter and fun. You don't have to have a dinner plan in order to post. I have no idea what I'm going to make today. However, you will get lots of ideas. My dh would happily go out for your birthday. I think Indian food is his favorite cuisine and I never developed a taste for the flavors.
Today we're also celebrating the birthday of our very own cadoodlebug. Welcome.

Cheese and crackers, fruit, and a glass of wine... there's the perfect dinner right there. I'd say 99% of the time this is my dinner when I don't have to feed anyone else. Welcome to the table. Glad you have a weekend with DS to celebrate with you, cadoodlebug! My birthday dinner is seafood of some sort. Anything from simple fish tacos to fancier Alaska King crab in a Bearnaise sauce would make me happy. We have friends meandering down the west coast on the way to their AZ winter home that are planning to stop for a couple days so I've been tidying up a bit. Thankfully I already converted the downstairs bedroom back from sick room to guest room. Still waiting to hear about MIL's surgery. Dinner is going to be an easy shrimp and vegetable stir fry. Rice for those that want it.

We ate brunch at Brennan's in the French Quarter the morning after our wedding. My best friend and her fiancé, DH's best man, joined us. Then we went to the 49er's vs Saints game in the Superdome. Sweet memories! Wish we could join you!! ETA: Glad to have you back at the table.

(You too, guzismom !) rymeswithpurple has told us in the past that she does exactly that, cooks on Sunday and then they eat that all week. My kind of cooking! I do that for the weekends, usually … I have my grandson during the week, and he basically dislikes everything I like. So I try to cook things he likes during the school week, and save my favorites for the weekend. And I’m definitely happy to eat the same thing for days on end, if it means I don’t have to cook again. Some guidelines for posting here: (1) no apologies! If you don’t cook or don’t like to cook or aren’t very good at it, that’s okay. (2) if you mention an interesting dish you’re planning to cook, you may be required to supply the recipe. So save yourself some time, and just post the link up front. (3) rechauffe means leftovers in French. It’s part of our secret code here.
