The colonoscopy thread made me sad by how many of you mentioned family members that didn’t get this done. Preventative care is key. I have a neighbor that told me years ago that she hadn’t been to a gyn since her last baby was born- 12 years ago. She had a C-section and tubes tied. I have several other friends who never go or haven’t been for 5 plus years. I go every year and never miss. Same with a mammogram. Not looking to shame anybody here but if you haven’t been to the gyn lately, please make an appointment.

Technically, my gyn retired. Sniffle. However, my internist is doing my girlie exams and ordering my annual mammo until I see a new gyn. Ladies, those self breast exams and annual mammos for those who are the recommended age are essential. Don't wait until it's something that is too late stage to manage. Also, when you do your SBE you should be doing a head to toe skin check for lumps and bumps. Melanoma checks are also essential.

an actual GYN? probably close to a decade...I saw one when I was still actively trying for one more baby...we gave up when I was around 44 or so and I'm 51 now.
BUT my PCP does my well-woman checks and sends me for my annual mammograms.

I was trying to figure this out the other day and I want to say it was 2015 the last time I went.

December but it had been 7 years. I kind of got fed up with probing after my 4th pregnancy in 8 years so I took a break... probably too long. I still have to schedule my first mammogram (I was waiting until after my COVID booster which was in January.)

I have a mammogram every year (just last week for last one). I don’t have a gyno, my primary doctor does exam/pap/breast check etc. I can do the pap every three years now so I opted for that schedule (and I follow it) because I hate it. If I’m in for a yearly well visit or something she does a breast exam.
My mom had breast cancer 2x so I am careful about that.

I hate to admit this, as a nurse, but it's been since 2018. I no longer have a uterus or cervix or breasts soI just don't go. I know, I know, I still have ovaries, but I'm fine with no more rectal or vaginal exams and I don't need paps or breast exams or mammograms. I'll have a colonoscopy this year and my oncologist manages the breast MRIs.

2003 when I had my second baby, only went to a GP with my first baby not an ob/gyn. I get pap smears done at my GPs office. I used to do them every year, then every two now it's recommended every three. I'm 44 and going for my first mammogram this month.

I haven't been to a gynecologist for 23 years (after birth of DS).
We've been in the US for 22+ years and I've never seen an OB/GYN here. All my regular check-ups have been with a PCP. Moves and changing doctors put a couple gaps in there, but I try to stick to the recommended schedules.

I had skipped all checkups during COVID, so I scheduled all my appointments in December. Gyno was mid-December, mammo was in January, and my first colonoscopy next week. So far so good.

I go every year. I do wonder at what point I stop going and just see my primary. That would be weird because my OB/GYN is great. I’ve been going to him for 26 years and I can’t imagine having my primary take care of all of the gyne things.

As I am still in my 5 years post Breast cancer zone, I have been seeing my Gyn every 3 months, up until last June, when I moved out to 6 months. Also because of this, I have been having 6 monthly (for 3 years) and now back to annual mammos, which I just can't skip- Before they found the lump, I was having regular mammos, as here they send you a letter with an appointment, and it is up to you to change it if it won't work! At my last check-up, my gyn told me that, as I have had a hysterectomy and am over 60, I don't need paps anymore, but she still does a visual check.

I hate having to get a new doctor.

My primary does my well woman annual exams. I go every year. I just had a pap last summer, so will be clear for 3 to 5 years now on that. Will still go for the rest.
Mammo at the same time frame, every year.
The only appts I skipped during covid were dentist cleanings and a filling. But caught up on that now too.

I haven't seen a gynaecologist since about 1994, or whenever I had a colposcopy and laser treatment after an abnormal Pap smear.
I always get my Pap smears done by my GP, or more recently, one of the nurses at my GP clinic. I have no need to go to a gynaecologist. I'm actually surprised that there are people who see a gyno every year. I don't know anyone who does.

I’m at least a year and a half overdue if not two years. It was hard to get in during Covid and between my daughter and I we had 4 surgeries and my other daughter broke her ankle so other medical issues took up time and money. And my on/gyn retired and the only other local group of on/gyn I know personally and am not comfortable going to. I need to suck it up and find someone and go. I see a NP for my general practitioner and I don’t know that she’ll do the exam.

Ha - yesterday! Had my yearly. I do a mammo and gyn every year.
I do need to make a call about the colonoscopy though. I'm due for one.

My primary care doctor does all my female stuff at my yearly physical every July. I haven't seen an OB/GYN since I had babies. I've got no issues so in my mind, no reason to see one.

I was scheduled before covid for some questions about early menopause but then my appt got cancelled and my referral is now in to go back.
But my exams get done by my family doctor. Our government sends out forms when my pap / mammo are due. My doctors office calls me if I don’t book my appts. I had my mammo in nov. I go yearly right now. I had a pap last month. I think that is every other year.

Every other year now for pap w/gyn, annual mammo. Had a colonoscopy in 2018. Wellness checks/labs w/PCP in the fall, annual eye exam and dental cleaning/check. Always glad to get it all done for the year.

I honestly can’t remember. I was going to say ‘97 when DS was born, but reckon I must have seen one in order to get a hysterectomy in 2011! Smear tests are done at my GP. I get a letter every three years to get a mammogram, which is carried out in a large mobile unit, usually in Tesco’s car park. 😄 And every other year I get a bowel screening pack delivered to my home. I send off a stool sample and get the results a couple of weeks later. I have never had a colonoscopy.

My family doctor does that. I have only seen a gynecologist for my pregnancies.
Our paps are every 3 years, and I was a year late because of COVID but I am generally pretty good about going.

Two weeks ago.
My gynecologist has basically been my primary doctor for many years. I drive 2.5 hours each way to see him since I moved away almost 11 years ago. He delivered my last child 20 years ago!
I now have established a relationship with a family practice group where I live now. I’m basically ridiculously healthy but feel I want to be known to a doctor going forward as I age.
For the foreseeable future, I will continue to see my gynecologist for paps and mammos.

2019. My pcp does my pap smear now. I wish I could see my OBGYN but she's always delivering babies and switches me to nurse practitioners who I have never met at the last minute and the one I got last time seemed a little weird, frankly. I would like an OB who is focused on older women and not on call 24/7. The office in general seemed chaotic, too, I need calm when I'm seeing a doctor. Need to search out this unicorn doctor who is available and has a calm office. I would like to have hormone replacement if menopause is awful for me so I have a goal to get going on that.

I've never been to a gynecologist.
I've been to an OBGYN when I had my first two kids, and a midwife with my third.
But that doesn't mean I'm not getting checked. My family doctor does my pap every couple/three years as required by the guidelines. If there had ever been issues I'd be doing them once a year, but for now that is the recommended timing.

I see my family physician every year and he does paps every 5 years which he says is what is recommended if you have never had one come back suspicious. I have a mammogram every year.
I used to see a gynecologist in addition to my regular physical with the GP; however, insurance does not cover but one physical per year so I chose the more comprehensive doctor. This year I had to fight to get my bloodwork covered. Paying $900 per month for insurance in America doesn't get you much.
