It has literally been YEARS since I have gone to a retreat/crop. I know, I know... but life... LOL
Anyway, I am heading for a 3 day crop next weekend!! I got rid of my big rolling cart thingy because I wasn't traveling to scrap anymore and it was just taking up space. So now, I have NO idea how to pack my paper/CS!! I have always sort of taken all but the kitchen sink because I am so worried I'll be a super scrapper and finish everything I have planned!! Of course, I never do that, but there's a chance, right!? LOL
I have three albums that I am working on consecutively (they are all of the same trip, but for three different homes). I use a LOT of SG sketches. Should I do page "kits" and pack the papers/CS that way? Should I just take a variety of colors to chose from and wing it? HOW do I pack/carry it??

I make project kits (all the supplies for that project) and put them in iris cases. Load everything in large 31 totes & Totally Tiffany Lois bags and then I use one of those wagons to haul it all in. When I returned to crops everyone was using those wagons instead of the rolling totes. They fit a ton of stuff. Have fun!

I preplan layout kits when I go to crops. That way I can just grab a ziploc bag and work away. I include cardstock, pattern paper, the pictures, sketch if applicable, notes on a sticky note, any small embellishments if applicable and any journaling I'd applicable (sometimes I print out journaling or a title from the computer).

I am going to one this weekend! I too preplan layouts and put the kits into 2 gallon ziploc bags. Then I bring my container of 6x6 scraps and some additional cardstock.

yay for a weekend crop retreat!!
I pack all my stuff in a suitcase. It was always easier for me to lift a suitcase into the car than a typical crop bag.
Anything flat (papers, sketches, sticker sheets) goes in one 12x12 box. There's a second 12x12 box with lumpier embellishments like thickers, buttons, enamel dots and whatever tools I can fit in there. Then I'll use a plastic Rubbermaid type shoe box if I need more room for tools, inks etc. I'll also bring one of those cropper hopper paper holders and a small bin or two to keep supplies gathered on the table.
For a while now, I try to be realistic about how much I can get done so I don't grossly over pack like I used to. I know I average about 10 pages per day (I scrap slow and talk a lot) so I'll plan for 25ish pages in case I get a burst of creativity or want to change topics.
Have fun!!

I'm not much help because I too take everything but the kitchen sink. I have started using some plastic totes so I can stack better in my car. Those also help at the crop because I can stack by my table if needed (or stow the tote out of the way under a table. But I also know a friend will have her moving dolly (or I bring a foldable wagon) to help bring my stuff in and out of the building.
Normally I would be headed out of town for my annual multi day crop today, but we had to postpone it a month because the hunting lodge we rent is being renovated...feels so weird to not be packing & going because it's always been either this weekend or next weekend.

Yay so excited for you!! I do a 2x a year retreat for 5 days and this is what I typically do. I try to preplan pages if possible. I also tend to take a big "project" to work on like a vacation album, Christmas layouts or graduation album - something that will be lots of pages but I can use all coordinating paper & embellishments. I also take stuff to make cards in case I want to switch it up from doing layouts. I usually keep these supplies in their own bag so I can have them put away while I'm working on scrapbook layouts. I've been putting all my page kits in 13x13 fabric bins (or whatever size fits in the Kallax) then I use my wagon to tote them into the space. I just leave them in the fabric bins & pull one out when I am ready to work on it. If it is a "project" I tend to house all of that theme into an Iris container. I take my tools in a spinner tote and usually just place it inside a tote bag and carry it inside. I'll also bring some neutral cardstock (white, kraft, cream, black) and a 12x12 paper pad with multiple colors in case I need additional cardstock. I also bring my SG Sketches as I have them printed out & bound - I love my sketches!! I hope you have so much fun & get a lot done!! I find retreats to be very productive

I was at a five day retreat two weeks ago. I make project and/or page kits. I still have my rolling cart, but find it easier to use the 31 bags large utility totes.

I'm headed to a weekend crop this weekend! I'll be coming home each evening since the crop is close to home. I'm planning on taking two mini books that I'm making for my kids. I should be able to easily get them done. I also plan to take some card making supplies and maybe even some stitching. I'm hoping to be able to carry everything in a couple of Totally-Tiffany Lois bags, They are calling for snow on Friday and I don't want to use my rolling tote in the snow.
Now, in about a month I'm going to a four day crop that is farther away and even though I have some page kits that I've gathered I will still take way too much. The group I'm going with will coordinate who is taking the "bigger" tools so we aren't all taking our die cutting machines and what not. I'm sure it will still look like I'm moving in. lol

I vote for layout kits. That way you don't have to figure out if you have what you need since you've packed it in the kit already. Since you use a sketch, that should make it even easier.

If you are looking for storage/something transportable, there is a hefty 32 quart box I think both Walmart and Target sell them oh, that is a great size for taking paper or page layouts or things of that size. They don't really get too heavy and they have a high-rise top so they don't squash your paper

I go to 3 day crops all the time. While I do have my rolling totes I really streamline when I go. I use 31 totes and put cardstock in there along with an iris case of pp and embellies I can use. I always take a theme to a 3 day to significantly limit what I need to take.
The more you take the more overwhelmed you can be so really try to limit. If it ends up you don't have something you really need just move on to the next thing.
We always have a vendor or two and often a free table and I supplement with that

I'm another that uses 31 totes and Iris cases. I try to limit my "themes" to 2 or 3, so I am not taking a dozen Iris cases of embellishments.

I have totes that hold a ton of paper. They are 13 x 6 (ish). I will pack about 10-20 kits in one tote and then bring 2-3 totes for a crop. I will usually just bring in one tote at a time and then bring in other stuff that I might use. That way I don't have to haul it all inside and the stuff I need is closer to me.
ETA: Prior to a crop, I find photos, paper, a title, a sketch, washi, brads, ephemera etc for one kit. Then I put it all in a 12.5 x 12.5 baggie. I also bring sticky notes so I can remind myself if I have something at home I want to add before I put it in an album. I currently have 22 kits prepared and no crop to go to! I just work from home that way too.

@iscrap247 I am curious about where you are cropping at. I am going to a crop at Sauders in Archbold Ohio and also worried about snow.

Between crops I get my layouts ready - print the pictures, plan the layout, pull the cardstock/paper and embellishments, cut title, print the journaling, etc. and put everything in a Cropper Hopper (now Advantus) paper file. The day before the crop I pull the paper files that I plan to work on at the crop and the tools and adhesives I will need. Everything fits in my scrapbooking tote. I take the bare minimum and it only takes me about 10 minutes to pack. I even do this for weekend crops.
