So many weather apps. So much variation.
Predicting our weather is generally easy. In winter it’s chilly with a chance of showers. In summer it’s warm warm with a chance of showers.
I’m trying to predict some weather abroad and every site is different. Led me to wonder which app everyone uses. I’ve always relied on the AccuWeather app. Maybe I just like the name. This time I’ve looked at enough sites to realize they’re all different.

Good question! My sister and I compare - pretty much daily. We live in the same house, use the same WiFi, use the SAME app (Weather.com on a phone, but mine is iPhone here is an Android) -- and get different predictions! They are close - but they aren't the same!

I like accuweather the best and over time had deleted other ones I had tried so stick with it exclusively, although I'm curious what others may use. The ads are annoying, I don't know that they used to have as many as they do now.
The iPhone weather app annoys me. I can never find the radar - if there even is one? I depend on that a lot during snow & storm seasons and the accuweather one is always easy to find and use.

DH and I both use NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's app. it is amazing. it has the forecast, hourly, and a radar tab.

Environment Canada site. The app is called WeatherCAN, no ads. I look at the Alberta city closest to me and the BC closest to me to get an idea. Both are giving forecasts for 100+ km in all directions from them, with hills and mountain range close by some of those directions really affecting the forecast which may not come here. It's the best we've got. When we travel, I find the site that will convert to celcius the easiest. Some are too hard to find or always revert back to farenhiet.

Local to Houston, but Space City Weather. They did a review on other apps, and this is what they found: Best App (Objective): Tie – FOX Weather & Weather Underground Best App (Subjective): Tie – Carrot & Windy Best Free Radar: Storm Radar or Storm Shield Best Lightning Alerts: WeatherBug Best Context Notifications: AccuWeather, The Weather Channel, Yahoo! Weather Best at alerting you when the rain will start or stop: Absolutely none of them. spacecityweather.com/the-space-city-weather-guide-to-weather-apps-besides-ours/

They all use the same data and the same radar (in the US, anyway).
I use the RadarPro app, and I have paid for it. IMO, it is the best live radar view.
I also use the app of a retired area meteorologist. I can easily find the wind and the predicted wind and wind direction, which is very important for us. We need to know wind speed and direction in the winter - to know how to close up barns. And in the spring wind speed/direction is important when we are spraying herbicide.
I am after more of the data, less of the 'prediction' -as no one really gets that right.
When we had the big weather outbreak in December with high winds and tornados ripping across the Plains - I followed a guy on TikTok, who also is on Twitter, and probably all socials... Ryan Hall. He was GREAT and I am keeping him as my go-to to watch during live weather events. I live 2 hours from any metro... so the TV weather/meteorologist really don't care about my area. Oh they care AFTER we have been hit by tornadoes, etc... they can't wait to get here and sensationalize it... but before hand... nope.
But check out Ryan Hall (RyanHallYall) for any live coverage. He is great. During the storms, he was pinpointing things in my area that were very helpful!

I like and pay for ad-free Weather Bug. I like to know the dew point in the summer.

I have no idea if WTForecast is the most accurate, but it’s my favorite.

I use the weather app that comes with iPhone the most. I think it is funny when it tells you that it will rain in the next 20 minutes and last for an hour. And it actually does rain. After that, I also like Weather Underground.

We are sitting right next to each other lol. Again yes close but different.

Not an app -
I find it most accurate to follow non-tv personality meteorology professors on social media.
They aren’t trying to hype anything up for ratings. They are just doing forecasts because they genuinely enjoy doing the math.

Not an app, but I use the National Weather Service. There's a box at the top you put your zip code in to and it will pull up your local weather. I saved the page for my area as an icon on my phone's home screen so I have easy access. www.noaa.gov
