Thank you everyone so far! Are there any online stores you can suggest that aren’t dept stores? Thanks! Hello, in just 7 weeks I will be MOB! DD and fiancée will be having a courthouse wedding with just 8 family members. She is not a fancy white wedding dress kinda gal. Her dress is a flowy, white, kinda “gauzy?”, maxi dress with navy embroidery. Fiancé is wearing a three piece navy blue suit, although t’s not a fancy suit. So, I need a dress. I have Macys and Nordstrom about 45 min away. Should I bother with a bridal store…. Will their MOB dresses be too fancy? Can you recommend some online stores for me? Thanks! I’ve tried to attach a pic, if it works. Its a pic of the detailing on the top of the dress….

Don’t bother with bridal stores. They’ll be low-quality, mostly ugly, you’ll probably have to wait for it, and they’re overpriced for what they are.
I’d go to Nordstrom or whatever your preferred department store is.

What busy said as well as they are likely to be way more formal than what your dd is thinking. I might even look in the women's business wear section as opposed to formal wear section at the department store.

I would go to Nordstrom. I feel like a jewel tone would coordinate well.

That's really pretty! I've been MOB/MOG 3 times, and I always found the bridal shop choices ugly, overpriced, and really old looking. I found all of my dresses at Nordstrom's or Dillards. Congratulations!

I bought my dress from Macy's. I wanted something that would coordinate with the bridal party and this site gave me suggestions of what color would look nice with rose colored bridesmaids dresses. Looking for a champagne/gold dress narrowed things down quite a bit. Wedding Style/Fashion Guide

I’m in the process of finding a MOTB dress right now (the wedding isn’t until December but I want this done). I’m looking for a long dress. I have learned that Macy’s and Nordstrom carry many of the same dresses. Many of these are also carried by David’s Bridal! That was a surprise to me.
I hate this process because I look awful in everything. Fortunately my dd doesn’t care too much about color or style as long as it isn’t horribly bright or tacky. So far I’m leaving in the direction of something navy.
I’ve also been perusing Bloomingdale’s. Many of their dresses are super expensive, but I have a fairly reasonably priced one coming next week.

My SIL got her mother of the bride dress off the rack at Macy’s. My BIL actually picked it out for her. Very reasonable. I would check at different department stores before going to a bridal shop. Have fun during the process of finding your dress.
