I read about these around December Daily time when they were out of stock everywhere, but ever since then have been on the lookout. I think the one everyone had was the WeRMK brand, but this week I spotted - and bought - the Craftelier branded punch. Disappointing. Unlike other punches that I have, where the base is open and it's easy to line up the paper with the shape to be punched, this one is closed and tricky to line up. Given this is the type of shape I'd want to be cutting a dozen or more (quickly), that's also tricky, since I found I have to stop and extract the shape after each punch because it doesn't fall out of the bottom. (Hope you know what I mean!! ) Before I give up on this one and pass it onto my small friends to play with and replace with a different one, can I just check that the WeRMK one doesn't present the same challenges? Looking at the YouTube video it looks like it might... Thanks for being a great bunch of likeminded friends who I know understand these things!

I can't line up my WRMK hole reinforcer punch. Sorry. It's not a huge deal to me, as I only cut solids.

mikklynn I'm not sure it's going to be a huge deal for me either but I guess I'm just used to punches having open backs so I can see what I'm punching (and get it close to the edge of the paper and all of that!) Thanks for that, though.

Thanks for the review and brand. I would like one of these...I have a die (waffle flower) which was super cheap, but it's a PITA to run it through the machine for a bitty hole reinforcer! I try to do a batch when I have it out and keep them on hand (in white. I can colour them) but it's time consuming and a punch is just so easy.

I read a review on Amazon which said you can't see where on the paper your hole will be.
I swear I used to see a project life branded one at Hobby Lobby (and always thought "I'll get it on the next trip...") Now I can't find evidence it even existed!

I have the WRMK hole reinforcer punch. It works the same as the described Craftelier one. I can punch 4 in a row (shaking the reinforcer out between each punch). After the forth one I use either an Exacto knife or long pokey tool to dig out the middle circles punched out that like to get stuck in the punch. It’s slightly annoying to have to clear out the punch every fourth use.

Ryann and mamagidget I am so glad it's not just me! Sounds like the WRMK punch is the same. I wonder why that's so? Any craft punch designers/manufacturers here?

I have the WRMK one but I find I use my reinforcer dies more often. No you can’t really see thru the dies either but there are tons of shapes

Thanks for that, though. I like punches with open backs, too. I will say I use the hole reinforcer punch quite often, mostly when I am making tags with a tag punch. I have used it to actually reinforce a hole, too!

Mentioning in case this is helpful!

So about not being able to see where you are punching. I was thinking. What if you made yourself a template?
Like cut a piece of cardstock 3x3, make some center marks on it, was well as on the punch. Then center the 3x3 and punch it out. Then place the template hole exactly where you want to punch the PP, center your template and punch! Of course that is not going to be exactly fast, but I think it would work. Except I don't have the punch so I can't say for sure.

Good idea FurryP - playing around with it a bit more, I realise that it's not so much the lining up that's bugging me, but the fact that I can't zip down a strip of paper with it to punch a few "holes" but have to keep stopping to take out the punched shape each time, or else it gets punched again (and spoiled). I'm also asking myself why I am allowing this to bug me when I have not had to trek across countries with my home in a bag and children by my side. I need to get things in proportion! (but again, I know everyone here understands these things. Thank you x)

Still not as quick as a punch but a lot less painful than my bigshot

I've had that punch on my wish list for a while and was kind of disappointed to read about the issues on this thread. I just want to see and punch without having to do any extra work.

I bought this punch after reading this thread and Amazon just delivered it. 😂 I think I won’t be frustrated by it since I’m not thinking I’ll need to line it up… although just in general punches like that do bother me!

I have the WRMK on an Amazon truck for delivery this afternoon. I am glad I read this thread. I can't think of when I have needed any lining up for a ring enforcer. I am getting ready to take a class of HS and there seems to be quite a few tags in there. My plan was to just punch pretty paper to add that little pop of color.

I have the WRMK one and not being able to see where it’s cutting is the only thing I don’t like about it.
FWIW most of the time - if I want to line something up/not using a solid or not having to cut a massive number of them, I use a circle punch and a hole punch. I have a circle punch that lets you see where you punch and is the right size for a reinforcer, and then a regular hole punch.I will either attach the circle to the tag and punch a hole through both at the same time or punch the inside hole first then center my hole punch around that and punch out the reinforcer. I have a piece of card that I punched a circle though and can use that to help me know where to punch the hole in the right spot before punching the circle.

This is how I cut mine. I have looked at the WRMK punch several times, but just can't seem to make myself bite the bullet for this specific punch when I have a perfectly viable way of making them now. Reading through this thread, I think I'll be happy to stick with my current, occasionally imperfect, method.

I have the Elizabeth Craft reinforcer die. It will cut out 6 at a time depending on the shape. I think there's 12 dies per set.

I have both of those tools already. Think I will try that. I have a die now, but the punch was on my list. But since you can't see the back anyway, who needs it?
