I saw an ad for this on Hulu and I remember briefly hearing about this fraud. My friend read the book Bad Blood and was telling me about her.
I guess 2022 is the year of the fraud documentaries (there seem to be a lot currently, LOL, Inventing Anna, Tinder Swindler, etc) so I was wondering if this one was any good.
I am SO sick of this frauds getting no or light sentences.

I’ve been watching it. I went into it not knowing anything beyond the basics… she was young, some sort of medical company, and then charged with fraud.
I will say that Amanda Seyfried is amazing in it.

It is on my list to watch. Yeah, I'm with you on being tired of these fraudsters getting a light hand slap. And they are out and able to start all over again on someone else. I heard Elizabeth Holmes was now married and just had a child. Or maybe just living with the guy. I am of two minds about having a child before receiving sentencing. Part of me thinks it was selfish and cruel to her child to have him before she receives sentencing. What if she is in prison for 20 plus years? I guess the child will be raised by the father with the help of family or nannies. Another part of me thinks the baby might be better off without her around. And what is with that baritone voice she adopted?

I’ve been watching it. I listened to the podcast with the same name last year. I liked the podcast better, but both are good. I feel like the podcast dug a little deeper into the story. I hope she serves a long sentence. I feel like she had the baby in hopes of getting off or at least getting a lighter sentence.

I watched her story on either Dateline or 20/20 last week - not sure if that's the same one or not, but it's an interesting story. I don't know why she did it, but the deep voice and wearing black turtlenecks were part of her "look" - she no longer wears the turtlenecks now, not sure about the voice. Also, her eyes are so big like she's holding them open.

I can't imagine her being maternal at all.
I've been watching! I've known about her for a while and found her story to be fascinating just in how fake she was. The voice she crafted, her huge unblinking eyes. So strange.

I listened to the podcast, followed the trial, watched the documentary, and read the book, so, yes, I am watching the series.
What I love is that Amanda Seyfried completely evokes her without just doing an impression.
I still can’t believe — knowing everything we now know — she got away with it as long as she did. I remember from the trial coverage what a weird and utter failure of any due diligence there had been on the part of investors.

I mean, obv she was able to fake it and the money wires (or were they from her once she got the 200K advance? I wasn't sure about that) but this was 2015 or so... not 1990. I was just shocked that more wasn't done to investigate her. I guess it's the human error element that allows people to get away with things. I think she is supposed to be sentenced soon - what was she convicted of - just the wire frauds, not anything with the patients? I can't believe she is not in prison awaiting her sentence, but I guess she was able to provide bail? I wonder if she can be sued civilly.
