I've been using Mrs. Meyer's in Honeysuckle for a few years but it's gotten to the point where the scent is so overpowering it makes my lungs hurt. Any recommendations for a cleaning spray you love that doesn't hit you over the head with the scent? Thanks!

Hi Ryann, I mostly use soapy water with a couple of drops of essential oil (my friend got into selling it and gave me some, I would never buy it), and I use Norwex microfiber cloths to clean. I just use a spray bottle with a tiny bit of laundry powder (unscented, free type detergent) and spray down what I'm cleaning and the cloth gets everything cleaned up.

We like the method sprays. We use these too. I have the French lavender and the pink grapefruit. I love the pink grapefruit. Really light scent. They clean and rinse really well.

I use the Method pink grapefruit. I hate overpowering scents. That one is light and citrusy.

Method Pink Grapefruit is the only one I've found that doesn't mess with my breathing. Loved the lavender one but that triggered wheezing.

Seems like Method pink grapefruit is the one to try. Thank you for the suggestions!

I use Castile soap and water in a spray bottle. Mrs Meyers, Method, Seven Generation all those greenwashing companies smell way to harsh for me. I just found The Unscented Company and was going to check them out further.

I would buy a concentrate that you like the scent of and make your own solution.

I like Mrs Meyers but always feel it leaves a film on my countertops. I like 409 Lemon. I agree with the film/streaks from Mrs. Meyers. Lately I've been using a product called Boulder Clean which is supposedly eco-friendly. I like the general disinfecting spray, but I also really like their granite & stainless spray. It leaves a streak free finish on both. I can't say there's much of a smell at all to either one of those.

Vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Yup. In the kitchen, I'll use an antibacterial spray after doing anything with raw meat, but otherwise vinegar and water will do the job. I wouldn't use it on painted or waxed surfaces, though. I think the vinegar could pull up the finish. For that, I use a dry microfiber or just water.

I dilute Mr Clean concentrate, the kind in the green bottle. There’s still a scent but by diluting it it’s way lighter and almost gone by the time the cleaner evaporates.

I do a homemade version with 2:1 water to rubbing alcohol with a squirt of Dawn and some peppermint EO. You could do it any scent or unscented too. The alcohol smell dissipates very quickly and leaves everything clean without streaks or residue. The combo of alcohol and dawn is a great degreaser and works especially well in the kitchen

I've been using the Lysol Simply in the Orange Blossom scent. It's very light smelling and does a good job.

Yes the rubbing alcohol goes away quickly and I can't handle anything. I carry my own hand soap in my purse I'm so sensitive.

I have noticed that the 7th generation cleaners do not leave a film on counters or tiles.

I use Blueland products. This is their multi-surface cleaner. www.blueland.com/products/multi-surface-starter-setThey work wonderfully. The bottles are a heavy plastic, the tablets dropped into the bottle with water last a long time and have a light but great scent. Plus it's great for the environment.

Vinegar and water in a spray bottle. I use this a lot, but don't use it on stone surfaces (granite and marble.) It's too acidic and can dull the surface.

I've used both Blueland multipurpose solution and the multipurpose cleaner from earth-smart-solutions.com and had good luck with both. (full disclosure--someone close to me is involved with ESS, which means I get to try stuff for free ... but I've kept using it after that! And I've branched out into their tomato fertilizer as well as their pet odour remover, which I discovered also takes the stink out of hockey gloves, which is magical!)
