So, say you have 3 errands to run in one city, miles apart. Does it make more sense to park your car near the first stop and then negotiate your way around via public transportation or Uber/Lyft and then back to the car OR to park near the third location so when you're done, your car is nearby. Which would you choose? I'm making myself insane with this seemingly simple decision. I need someone to say something that makes sense so I go "of course!" ETA: of course, you are all correct to park at the last stop. And that's what I'll do. My only thought about that was it meant getting there early to get parked and get to stop number one, but it's likely worth it, as jeremysgirl said we'll probably have more energy at 10 am as opposed to 5 pm.

I would park my car nearby the third stop. It would be a case of energy for me. In the morning, I'd have more energy than after I had run the errands. In other words, I'd be eager to get home. Would want the car close at that time.

Can you drive between them? Will you be carrying anything?

If they were all within 2-3 miles and it was semi pleasant city I would walk. Otherwise if that’s not practical I think id drive to each one. Maybe take Uber.

I would want to end closer to my car. So I would park closest to my last stop.

It gives me tremendous relief to read this because I agonize over decisions, too. I always want to choose the most efficient way to complete tasks but there’s always indecision. I end up telling myself to just make a choice and go because my indecision is wasting time.

I’ll chime in with if it’s at all practical I would also like the above peas park near where I’m finishing the day. When I’ll be low on energy

Since this is so completely foreign to the world I live in, this isn't from experience but I would want to be able to hop in the car when I was done and head home so I would park at the last stop. I think.

I’ll be the outlier here and say I would just drive even if it was a hassle/ expensive to park. My time and convenience would need to factor in too, and I can’t imagine it would save me time or money to park somewhere and Uber between stops.
In real life, I would pick places that didn’t involve going into the city if I had other alternatives. We have a retired friend who lives in the suburbs but goes to an eye doctor in downtown Minneapolis. She recently had an appointment and needed a ride there and back and was desperate so I gave her a ride. OMG, the traffic going home was a nightmare because of course she picked a time that had her getting done during rush hour. 🥴 If that was me, I’d be changing doctors. I don’t have the time or patience for dealing with that.

All of my girls wanted to go to Kleinfeld's, so that's stop number 1 and then she has reservations at two other bridal salons, one at 2:45 and one at 4:30. I don't mind driving in and out of NYC at all and I don't mind getting around once there. We're comfortable on the subway or taking cabs/Ubers/Lyfts (and typically with walking, but not in the rain - that suuuucks.) I think I was just stuck on "go early, get parked and get from Soho up to Chelsea" or "park and then go back in the afternoon."

Omg super fun. Are you gonna grab dinner after?
Btw do you know of any hotels that have 2 rooms? Like a bedroom plus a living area that has a pull out sofa? I found one, The Beacon Hotel that looked perfect but I waited too long and now it is booked up for 1 of the nights. I’ve found some others but they don’t look great.

Well I wasn't thinking NYC when I was reading your problem.. I thought that is a lot of work to figure out.. just drive to each place...
THEN I see you will be in NYC.. now that is totally foreign to me.. I would have no idea. Makes my downtown (Denver) seem very very small. lol
Good luck!!

A big factor for me is food. If you are going to be near a favorite place can you time it around a meal time snack time coffee time or stop last and bring a chocolate babka home?! Or can you detour through and grab some dumplings lol. Have fun I think mother daughter sister bonding time is the best.

We're going to have brunch between stops 1 and 2 and then dinner after. Any of the Residence Inns should have 2 rooms, right? We stayed at one near Bryant Park, I think. And it was totally fine.

I would drive to all places.
OK, I see this is about NYC. I would not drive anywhere. When we go we plan to take the train, then subway or whatever to get places.

i would rather have my car at the end of my errands so when i'm tired running around, it will already be there.

Kleinfeld's...how fun! Let us know if you and your dd's will be on "Say Yes To the Dress!" Oh, how I used to binge that show! I agree with parking at your LAST stop for sure! meal time snack time coffee time or stop last and bring a chocolate babka home?! Now I can't stop hearing Jerry and Elaine saying "BABKAAA!" peaname ....I like how you think! I'd wanna go to Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate, and a pastrami sandwich at Carnegie Deli! [/quote]

We totally would walk but it's supposed to rain. Coming from Scotland, this wouldn’t be an issue. Just dress for the weather. You’ll not dissolve! If walking was feasible this would be my first choice.

What a fun day! Congratulations to your DD. Like everyone else, I'd want to be close to the car at the end of the day. Take the subway or a cab between appointments.
You're very brave to do three shops in one day -- I'd be bug-eyed after one.

Summer - also look at The Conrad. It’s a converted Embassy Suites, so has a bedroom and living room.
