Nope. Looks like suicide. I love water slides. I enjoy most thrill rides and roller coasters. THAT looks like a death wish.

I love rides, the bigger and scarier the better. But every time I drive past that water slide, I think "Oh, hell no!" I have lost confidence in it because of the multiple delays.

That was true at one point in the testing (before the retrofit), but it isn't now. The owner went down first, and a bunch of the lifeguards have been down as well. A good friend's daughter works there, and she said (after going down herself) that it's fantastic. From what I understand, they go after dark to avoid media recording their rides. Okay, so not only does the ride look crazy, but then you tell us that the staff goes down it AFTER DARK??? omg. Sure, let's just go off a huge cliff and plunge to the ground....but wait, that's not scary enough, so let's do it IN THE DARK! o.m.g.

Yup, it's really stairs, which I agree is nuts. All those things you mention I imagine will be problems, but I'll go you even one better: want to guess what their ADA accommodation is? Lifeguards will CARRY YOU up the stairs! I'm pretty sure they're banking on no one asking - or at least no one accepting that kind of help.

I live in the KC suburbs. I will NOT be going down that slide. On a side note, we went to that water park last year, and I saw a man lose his swim trunks on that roaring waters river. Lol.

Did you ever hear about the water slide that had a razor blade on it? Yeah, that was enough to scare me for life. Thanks! Now I'm scarred for life!! LOL I thought it looked fun except for that start with the net. I always get off the water slides wondering why they don't make them longer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hell yeah, I'd do that for sure! I just showed DD and she'd do it too. We both agreed that it doesn't look *that* bad, but I'm sure IRL it would be a lot scarier. Especially going over the top the first time.
Another thing added to my bucket list......

AussieMeg, did you watch the test run video posted earlier where the raft that was weighted down went flying off the second hiil? Ack!

Ummmm .... NO!! We actually just watched a show about the building of that slide last night ... there were a lot of test rafts that went flying into the air They changed the degrees of the second hump at the last minute and that solved the problem ... I still wouldn't ride such a thing Leanne

We have Canada's "biggest and best" waterpark with North America's highest free standing water slide tower here. Calypso Waterpark
It is high but nothing compared to that and there have been a ton of lawsuits launched against it. Mostly to do with bumps and bruises from landing at the bottom. I can't even imagine the liability issues with that one.
That being said I love going and we have a blast but I could never do that one. I couldn't even climb to the top without freaking out, let alone go down it.

Climbing the seventeen flights of steps would be way too much work for a few seconds of fun.

I just watched it on my local news & it looks amazing. I'll wait until they install an elevator to get to the top.

Put that on a track and strap me in a seat and wild horses couldn't keep me off that. The rubber raft thing? I'm iffy on it. I think that plunge would be an incredible thrill, but I'm not convinced someone isn't going to fly out of that raft.
So, maybe that's more of a "I'll ride it after several thousands of folks survive to tell me how fun it is."
