I put some embossing powders and a few stamps on freecyle.
I usually keep a small box in the craft room and every so often take it to the Goodwill. But these were nice, almost full, bottles and some nice stamps and I hate to just put those in w/the other stuff because I'm never sure if the Goodwill really gets anything for them or if they just dump stuff like that.
So, I decided to list them instead.
Got a person who wanted them - a guy's name - Mike.
So, I arranged to meet him and give them to him. I asked if he wanted the contents of the box too and he said "sure". I was bummed I had just taken another small box over to Goodwill a few weeks ago and could have given him that one too. But I thought, "might as well give him this one along w/the powders and stamps"
When I meet him, he's this 60+ yo guy. He was so sweet. He said "I've been wanting to try embossing."
I was just SO HAPPY to hand over the stuff to him - there was almost new glitter bottles, some embellishments, etc. And he looked tickled to get it.
So, the moral of my story is, reach out w/your stash clean-outs. You never know who you'll make happy with them. I hope Mike has a blast w/his new stuff.

Thanks for sharing this...what a sweet story <3 I would have been tempted to ask him to send a picture of what he tried making. But also for mentioning it - I always forget about the freecycle FB group in my neighborhood and a lot of things I want to get out of my space.

I use the Buy Nothing group in my area and it's really great. I've been able to rescue some red cardstock and small cards I can re-use for charity cards and I've given away some small crafty things to people who were excited to have them. It's much more satisfying than donating to Goodwill even though it's a little more work. I hope Mike has tons of fun trying out some new crafty techniques!

I do this often. Sometimes I get adults receiving my items, sometimes they are looking for items for their kids. Love giving to the next generation! Also we have someone in our neighborhood who put up a Little Free Art Library. Instead of books, it has art and craft supplies. I bring an item or two over every so often and check out what others have left for trade.

I found a single mom who loves to scrapbook and is building her stash. Now I just contact her directly and she is so happy to take anything I have. I have had a few friends that have cleaned out their huge stash and I have taken a few things and then passed huge amounts to her. She has been very grateful and it makes it easy for me to get rid of things knowing that someone else will enjoy them.

We’ve been wanting to build a Little Free Library since the Pandemic, but haven’t done it yet. Now I think we will do Little Free Art/Craft Library instead.

I have so many friends with leftover yarns. Expensive kinds too that we don't just want to throw away and are taking up so much room in our stashes. OP, I think that was so nice of you. And I'm so glad it made him happy.

My city has a free craft supplies give away facebook group. I have posted on there giving away things, as well as looking for random things (someone gave me a single sheet of teddy bear paper lol). They also sometimes have meet-ups where they bring things to give away, but I haven't gone to those. I love that group, though!
