Okay, so once you unmount a rubber stamp, do you need to do anything to it so it will cling to a stamping pad system? (Misti, etc)

And do you leave the rubber stamp on the foam piece or separate the two?

I found it easier to get mine down to bare rubber - getting the foam off the block is hard, although I think there are lots of older tutorials online showing how it can be done, I seem to recall having a lot easier time peeling the rubber off the foam. I added 2 way glue to the back of the thin sheet of rubber. it should be something like rubber cement, that will be sticky when it's dry. I think I used Tombow Mono 2 in the green and white tube.

I responded to your post on the stamping board, but I took mind down go the bare rubber. I used Aleene’s Tack-it-Over-and-Over on the back of the rubber.

If you want to keep the foam you can heat the wood block in the microwave. 15 to 30 seconds depending on the size of the stamp, the foam should peel off easily. I then put a thin layer of Aleene’s Tack it Over and Over glue on it. Just be careful, the wood block will be quite warm when you take it out of the microwave.

Copied from the stamping/cardmakming sub board.
I used the EZ mount mentioned above (thick version). It was just OK. Sometimes the EZ Mounted stamps would just fall off the block/stamp platform. I ended up using removeable tape runner to old it in place.
Purple Onion is a stamp company who sells un-mounted red rubber stamps. They sell THIS product for stamping their stamps. I already had the MFT Mirror Image stamp and use that and it works great. Not sure how or why, but it does.
My low budget fix --> Rather than buy EZ mount or a mirror image stamp, you could use the back of a photopolymer stamp that is larger than your un-mounted rubber stamp and see if it works. Position the rubber stamp on your paper, place the back (solid) side of the photopolymer stamp over that then close the lid on the stamping platform and see if it picks it up. Then ink and stamp. Does that make sense?
