Because I’m so sure her days are numbered, I’ve made sure to buy every stamp set the minute it was first released. 😬 I know what she’s doing is wrong, but I want them anyway. If Disney was offering these same products, even at twice the cost, I’d buy them from the legitimate source (I don’t buy knockoffs from AliExpress, for example). But they’re not. Yep, I bought everything because her time is numbered for sure, especially with the stickers and such she just put out, they are not "interpretations" they are blatant copies.

I’ve assumed all along she’s operating under the radar and she’ll get it catching up to her sooner or later. Disney is a huge company who, although I love them, charge through the nose for every little thing and are certainly not hurting for cash. I don't have a huge problem with what they are doing and will buy from them as long as I can.

On this issue I am firmly in the camp of if Disney is too lazy/ignorant/not interested or whatever in giving us what we want then I will happily buy from someone who is.

"Tell me you don't know anything about copyright law without telling me you don't know anything about copyright law." I thought the same thing but decided she’s gonna do what she’s gonna do. She wasn’t interested in knowing what she was doing was wrong. Yeah, no point in arguing with her. I don't know the owner, but my sneaking suspicion with people like this is that they know what they're doing isn't fully kosher, they're just hoping they can skate by unnoticed.

I messaged them as I was considering purchasing some of the stamps for my son's album. Here is part of her reply: My artists are all huge Disney fans and are frequent park visitors.. we discovered a need for items to help us document our trips to the parks that work for actual crafters. Our art is our interpretation of what we see in the parks everything is slightly changed enough so it is not an exact replica of what is our there. We work hard to make our fan art our own look and feel. What we are most proud of is that all of our items are made here in the USA. To answer your question we do not have a license with Disney because our artwork differs, nor has Disney ever contacted us for concern. Is she really claiming "her artists" are merely inspired? Tracing Disney images and/or using a thicker vector isn't inspiration, it's copying. Jussayin'. This is kind of ridiculous. Not only that but I've found some of the SVG files used for "inspiration". Traced with a thicker line and barely any editing out. I have to laugh at this claim of "her artists". Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I understand us Disney fans want stamps but this kind of nonsense talk when the owner knows very well exactly what they're doing (and the subtle shifting of the blame on alleged artists which no, you don't pay artists, you just trace and sometimes change vector thickness) is really taking customers for a set of naive fools who are tech-challenged. The Mickey pumpkin head in the photo I shared on page 1? There you go. That's the "inspiration" for "her artists": Literally just thickened the lines, cleaned up (using the basic erase tool, nothing more) the image so it would stamp nice as a smaller image. I hate being bullshitted to so blatantly. I don't mind you trying to make a buck on a popular thing but don't go pretending you aren't aware of what you're doing. 🤨 "My artists", my arse, yeah. I'll give credit to Kari Stiles who managed to do a really nice stamp set without playing " inspired artist" for this company. The rest, serious side-eye after the exchange posted by mom .

Icons from other indie artists on the web used by SPP: Crystal Gordon (cleaned up to removed the little sparkle effect but the rest is exactly what SPP has in their stamps). This is not "her artist" but an independent designer with a store front on Creative Market among other places. Want to suppor the actual designer and like to work hybrid/digital, head over here for the full pack. The non-commercial (personal use only) license is $15. I hate being bullshitted to so although I decided not to share this initially, mom 's response email pushed me over the edge. We are not fools. ETA: SPP paid the $25 commercial license for this set (up to 5000 products + "As-is, must be modified from original" use which explains the full vector lines and erasing of the sparkle effect).

My optimistic mind is hopeful she paid the OG artist more than $25 but I know that's not probably the case.

Thanks for bumping this! Been waiting until my Rakuten check hit Paypal, then I'm off to the races.
