I am stumped on what to fill my son's Easter basket with. He is not a sweets lover, so most candy is out. I am thinking of a new swim suit, 1-2 novelty t-shirts, some protein bars, and maybe an amazon gift card. He is all good on items with his college logo and I think he is good on toiletries.
Is there anything you are putting in your son's basket that is unique that I haven't considered?
I don't want to go overboard, but I am trying to think of thoughtful things that will get used.

We have never done candy ad ds can't eat food and dd has a ton of anaphylaxis allergies.
Dd is getting some new lip gloss from Kiss Freely (allergy friendly if anyone needs that) and a pink salt lamp that has color options for when she does Yoga. She is 19.
Ds (16) is getting a Lego Luigi set (King Boo) and a new bath toy (ferry boat).

My son is 17... he loves candy so he gets a 5lb bag of Sour Patch Kids. lol But we also love to do the graphic tees, maybe a GC for gas now that he drives, he collects Funko Pops (even if you don't, you can get one in his favorite movie or tv character, they have some fun ones!) and we did light-up chopsticks for Christmas that he used at home with his sushi. I usually do a fun Mad Libs for my kids when I can find (my DD likes Golden Girls, I've done an Office one for him). He is captain of his Marine Fitness team so I have done a Marines-style workout guide (found on Amazon) before. Maybe something like that if he likes gym workouts and whatnot. They have Crossfit-style ones (like little hand guides; I have traveled with one!) with quick workout ideas. I love finding unique book ideas. He loves beef jerky. He is going away to college in August so we probably *will* get more Tampa gear. Oh! I usually do new slides too, like nice Nike ones or whatnot. Honestly, throwing a $20 in there this year might happen too. lol He works, drives, has a g/f, etc and is always spending his money out. A little extra fun money can't hurt.

My kids are both getting eggs filled with $5 bills. They will each get $50. Perhaps a candy of some sort for one of them, but the other doesn't eat candy AND I have to mail a package.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude... but I never, ever would have thought to keep making our kids Easter baskets after age 12 or so. Actually, we never made baskets. They had empty baskets and ran around looking for hidden plastic eggs that had Hershey kisses or quarters in them. We had fun hiding the eggs and they had fun finding them.
I really didn't know Easter baskets filled with stuff were a thing, for any age.
As a kid I do remember always getting a new coloring book and crayons at Easter, and sometimes a jumprope.

Who doesn’t love an excuse to get your kids presents? Easter is basically mini Christmas 🤣 We (my siblings and I ) hunted Easter eggs until we had our own kids as well, so my older kids still hunt eggs in the backyard. My kids are getting lego sets, swimsuits, books, gift cards, and Imagine Dragon concert tickets. Then the eggs in the backyard are filled with cash.

I will do Easter Baskets for my kids until I die. I just love it so much and have fun buying treats for them that they wouldn't buy themselves. I just mailed my 19 yo son's Easter package to college today. I got him a Taco Bell gift card (gross but he loves it), buffalo wild wings GC, some hot sauce he likes, a couple t shirts, new flip flops, tons of snacks/treats from Trade Joe's (there's isn't one close to where he lives) and a couple of eggs with cash inside them. I also got him a Stanley cup. We have them at home and love them. I had a hard time this year too because he doesn't need much.

Coming back because I’m just blown away by anyone not knowing this was a thing. Are you in the US? I’m surprised you could walk through stores in the US without seeing the filled easter baskets for sale. They’re all over Target, WM, grocery stores and have been since I was a kid at least. They’re right at the front door at all the WMs around here. You literally can’t miss them. Sort of like these, esp #6 would be typical of what you would see the premade ones looking like at WM www.housebeautiful.com/shopping/home-accessories/g39282094/best-easter-baskets/#7 on this list is how they typically look in the store - everything displayed and then clear cellophane wrapped around it www.countryliving.com/shopping/g38846939/best-premade-easter-baskets/I don’t buy premade ones like that. My kids each have a basket and then it’s filled with presents and at the bottom is a piece of paper with an egg drawn on it with a number inside and that tells them how many eggs to hunt for in the backyard, so then they take their basket out and get that many eggs. My kids get one from us (which we say is from the Easter bunny), then from each set of grandparents, and usually much smaller ones from aunts.

I'm Jewish so I'll admit that I know nothing about easter baskets but what I do know is that I never remember seeing them or hearing about them filled with "expensive" items like I see now-a-days. Maybe because we have more discretionary money as compared to years ago???

Idk yet, boys are so difficult when it comes to Easter baskets and stocking stuffers 🙄. I usually line the basket with a tshirt instead of Easter grass. Lots of candy of course! A gift card or two.
Ds20 is planning to move out sometime in the next year and while I’m not rushing it, I do think it will make gift giving easier for a couple of years 😆

I HAVE seen baskets for sale in the past... just never part of our traditions. I am REALLY surprised they are for anyone other than young kids though. I DETEST gift giving holidays and we gave up participating in the commercialization of holidays many, many years ago, when our kids were in their early teens. By that point we hadn't done our Easter egg hunts for a few years. I LOVE buying gifts throughout the year when the spirit moves me, when I see something I know a loved one would appreciate. I never understood the pressure people feel around holiday gift giving, mainly Christmas. It's not my thing. Different strokes for different folks.

I usually add T-shirts, a Lego set and this year he is getting some puzzles. He is enjoying them so I grabbed a couple. He is getting regular ones but there are also some three D wood puzzles he likes. They are made of wood snd laser cut. Maybe favorite snacks or gift cards from places he likes.

I'm in the UK, but my kids (and grandchildren when they're old enough) get an Easter egg. That's what easter is about for us being non religious. I dislike the way it's become a thing to go overboard and replace eggs with loads of other gifts. But we do things differently for other holidays too - Valentine's Day is about 'romantic' love, so we (myself nor anyone I knew) never gave Valentine gifts/cards or whatever to our children but nowadays, of course, it's filtering into the way of things here so I guess some people will start doing Easter baskets before long. Just more commercialism imo. Feel free to call me miserly...no one expects more so no one is upset and we spoil them in other ways

With the codicil that we only do food (doesn’t have to be sweet) and few little things similar to stocking stuffers, some (boy) college years items might have included a couple things like quarters for the laundry, chapstick, toothbrush, cleaning sponges, pens/highlighters.
And something cheapo and fun like a very mini Lego set or Silly Putty.

The 23 year old son that lives close will get his when he's here for Easter. Gift cards, candy, beef jerky, a Yeti cup. The oldest DS is bring his very serious girlfriend home as well so I am getting her a basket as well (which is hard as heck when I dont know much about her!).

Listen, holidays are a big deal to me. Because they were a big deal to my mom. And now my mom is gone and I feel like I carry part of her when I carry on traditions that we had growing up. It doesn't mean my kids won't leave my house. It's just one fun way to carry on my mom's memory and I totally loved when she did thoughtful things for me and later on my husband and kids. Makes me happy. I don't care what anyone else does or doesn't do but this was a very weird conclusion to come to because of Easter baskets.

My mom made me an Easter basket until I got married at 21. And that was in 1982, so I don’t think giving baskets to older kids/young adults is a new thing!

I guess I look at it as I’d probably spend that on the same things anyhow during the spring/summer (not so much for a 19yo but younger ones)…..swim suit, summer clothes, summer toys (bubbles, chalk, etc) when they were younger. Might as well put them in a basket and call it a gift 🤷🏻♀️ Of course that justification no longer works now that my kids are older and the baskets lean more towards gift cards and video games 🤣

Makes me happy. I don't care what anyone else does or doesn't do but this was a very weird conclusion to come to because of Easter baskets. This is me, too. I have very fond memories of holidays growing up and it makes me happy to make magic for my kids and know they’ll remember it fondly when they grow up. My oldest kid was very little when the movie Hop came out. In that movie, the Easter Bunny poops jelly beans. He thought it was the most hysterical thing, so now it’s a tradition for there to be trails of bunny poop (jelly beans) up to the Easter baskets and around the eggs in the backyard. They’ll remember that forever. I genuinely enjoy buying my kids stuff. I love toys. I love LEGO. A ton of new toys come out in Jan and Feb (LEGO always has a huge release in Jan), so this gives me an excuse to pick up all the cute new stuff I see after Christmas. I mentioned earlier that my adult brother, sister, cousins, and I hunted Easter eggs in my grandma’s backyard until we had kids of our own. She kept us interested for so long by putting money in the eggs. I didn’t get it at the time, but now when I think about it I realize how it must have made her heart happy to watch us in the yard and for just a few minutes see us as kids playing at grandma’s house again. I want that. I want to look out in my yard and see my teenage kids or adult kids or married kids running around like they did when they were little, so yes, I’ll put my $50 in the eggs and wrap my extravagant presents for their extravagant baskets and enjoy them making jokes about eating bunny poop.
