Up to 2 answers on the poll. (I edited the title)
I consider this totally meaningless, and that is why I labeled it fluff.
I don't care for sunrise service at Easter because it is too darn early, especially if you are preparing for guests at lunch on Easter.
At my church this year, the church will host a sunrise service, then a breakfast for everyone, followed by an egg hunt for the little ones and then the regular service at 11 AM. (whew!)
My friend wondered if I didn't like it because in my youth I had to get up at 5 AM every day. (dairy farming)

We celebrate the Easter bunny and spring and presents and eggs and find that meaningful, but we don’t do any church services.

We don't have sunrise services (Catholic), but do have Easter Saturday vigil. I generally attend my regular 10 am service.

No church on easter for us. BUT when we went, I always preferred the night before. I don't like morning services as they're long.

I couldn’t answer the poll. I celebrate Easter but my celebrations have nothing whatsoever to do with church. We color eggs, hide plastic eggs filled with candy and money for the kid and we bake a ham. We also fill Easter baskets with treats. That’s about it. It has probably been almost 40 years since I’ve stepped a foot inside a church on Easter.

Church is a part of our Easter traditions but we will go on Saturday night. Easter Sunday will be way too crowded and full of little kids.

I’m Catholic and never heard of a sunrise service. The sunrise service is "a thing" with Protestants.
It is because of the empty tomb being found early in the morning.

I have never been to a sunrise service but I think I would prefer to take part in the other 3 activities on Easter morning. Egg hunt for the kiddos, breakfast and regular service would suit me just fine.
I taught Sunday School for years and I found that Easter brought out more people [and more kids] than any other time of the year, including Christmas.

I really enjoy Easter Sunrise Service. The air is fresh and with the sun rising as we begin to worship (by Lake Ontario), it is the most joyous occasion. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is why I celebrate Easter.

Many years ago several of us rode our bikes to the park for the sunrise services. I remember always stopping at the florist and buying my mom a carnation on the way home.

Church is usually part of my Easter celebration - but I don't think I've ever been to a sunrise service! The church I've attended for the past 25 years doesn't do one. The Easter Vigil is Saturday night and Easter Day services are 9 and 11. I'm not a morning person so not sure I'd enjoy getting up that early!

Colorado has a sunrise service at Red Rocks. It’s a huge deal and I’m theory I would love to go, in reality no way. It’s so crowded, long walk uphill and downhill, usually freezing cold, sometimes snowing, that I would find no joy in all that.
I’ve never been to one and in the old days when I was Catholic they didn’t have that early of a service.

Dragged to too many sunrise services in my youth. No way no how as an adult. I do give props to how the Easter bunny managed with the sunrise services though. Even in beautiful locations such as snowy mountain meadows on horse drawn sleds and the top of a ski gondola etc. But just no for me.

We always do the Saturday night Easter vigil, and rarely attend Mass on Easter Sunday. I love the vigil Mass - starting with a candlelit procession into a completely dark church, then the lights all coming on when we get to the 'Gloria'. I always volunteer to read one specific passage - Moses parting the Rad Sea, as it os one of my favourites.

I’ve been to only one, many years ago when my sister attended a Catholic high school and the nuns did a sunrise service. They did a beautiful ballet-type dance to flute music as the sun rose.
Our church does a service on Easter Saturday that begins in darkness (with parishioners holding candles) and ends with a giant silk butterfly (He is risen) fluttering from the end of a long pole as the lights are turned on inside the church. It’s very moving for those who are religious.

I always volunteer to read one specific passage - Moses parting the Rad Sea, as it os one of my favourites. The Catholic Easter Vigil is my favorite of all the special masses. We almost always attend that mass. I love watching the light grow through the church, all the readings, and the litany of the saints. It’s also a time when many adults and children off the traditional schedule are confirmed in the church. For several years, DS served as the head altar server for the mass and carried the giant Paschal candle into the church (where the candles are lit from and it’s lit for every mass and baptism). One year one of the deacons was carrying the candle and dropped it. They had to use the old one for the vigil. After that, DS got the job. He was a football player and very strong!

I'm Lutheran and this was a choice for our ELCA Lutheran church, which was lovely, and we had a baby at the time who was up anyway, so we went. We moved and my Missouri Synod Lutheran church does not offer it, and that's fine too but they offer services on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, with a vigil over the weekend, and then of course, Easter Sunday service.

I love it for the wrong reason.
I love it because it’s the smallest crowd on Easter Sunday. I love it because if I go to the 11am service it’s too crowded. Like I said, wrong reason.
The sunrise part isn’t important to me - with one exception - it’s really cool to go into the church and it’s still stripped and bare after Maundy Thursday, and the first people there get to see the lights thrown on and the altar dressed with the organ blaring and literally sit there and watch everything returned to rights. It’s the only service of the day when that happens. That part is gloriously symbolic to me.

As a teen I liked to go to sunrise service when it was outside at the park. When it’s inside a building it’s nothing special. My church doesn’t do a sunrise service. We celebrate all week with our Easter program 4 nights and by Sunday we are pretty much wiped out. Ds23 is portraying Jesus this year so it’s extra special. I keep thinking Fred would be so proud. ❤️ And Logan is now a giant, much to his brother’s chagrin. 😁

We went to our first sunrise Mass at our Catholic cemetery in 2011 to honor my sister who passed in January of that year. She had always said she wanted to go to one someday but no way could she get up and ready that early, LOL.
That began a new tradition for our family for several years.
It is truly a wonderful experience. The sun coming up over the horizon and in the distance a drum and bagpipe corp begins playing makes for a beautiful service.
Of course the theme of death and resurrection while surrounded by rolling hills of tombstones and a mausoleum is pretty apropos.
Getting up isn't too difficult and we always have a nap later in the day planned.
On the way home we stop and get Krispy Kreme donuts and then have a big breakfast and then dinner after a nap.
This year DD is lobbying to just go to the 7am at our church and then have monster breakfast after. That is fine with DH, he wants ham sandwiches and deviled eggs. And potato salad rather than a hot meal.
To me 7am is preferable to being squeezed out by all of the C&E Catholics (Christmas and Easter). Saturday night vigil is completely out, it has been known to run close to or past 11pm despite a 7pm start time.
Doesn't matter what service we go to, as long as there are KK donuts after!

I don't remember seeing sunrise Easter services offered until we moved to San Diego and there are a couple of churches here that advertise sunrise beach services.
If we go to church at Easter, it is the Greek Orthodox midnight service for DH. Communion starts just after midnight and because Greek Orthodox priests can only offer communion once a day, anyone wanting to take Easter communion has to attend that service.

We have the same services on Easter that we have weekly--8:30 a.m. and two different options at 11 a.m. We are morning people so 8:30 a.m. is our favorite service weekly.

I love the idea of a sunrise service, but in reality, I'd never get up in time for it.
Ever since I was a little girl, I've always imagined myself waking up on the first Easter morning and learning of Christ's resurrection. I'm 62 and I still wake up on Easter morning and imagine what it must have been like to hear that news.

There is one thing that really is eye-opening for me on this thread.
For EVERYTHING that Jesus Christ did for mankind, the conditions and the mocking that He endured on earth and the public shaming and being so humiliated while on the cross, to die for all of us, for those who may have eternal life upon confession of our faith in Him and not to be able to "get up early, 1 (ONE) day of the year, to honor the many sacrifices and to acknowledge that He died on the cross and that HE arose from the dead on the 3rd day is uncomprehensible. (sorry for the run-on sentence).
ONE day, to get up early and worship -- 1 day out of 365!
I am supposing that sleep and comfort in bed has a higher priority than worshiping Christ's Resurrection.
