I really liked VB hosting with Catherine - they are a fun pair! They vibed really well together, I really enjoyed the unboxing last night. They seemed to genuinely be having fun. I have done the card making events before (but not the scrapbooking ones) and I'm still surprised at how much product we received. This is incredible. I'm super psyched for next weekend. My husband is out of town and my son has moved out so it's me and the dogs from Friday morning to Monday morning. The unboxing was fun and I'm really looking forward to next weekend. I'm going to work on printing some photos this week now that I've seen the supplies. Same. I've got to figure out the sizes and what to print this weekend, I think that will really help me do the actual projects.

My box still hasn't arrived so I haven't watched yet but I'm excited. Everyone is saying how great the products are. My shipping update says Tuesday so fingers crossed that happens. I really like the idea of printing photos beforehand so I'm ready to go!

scrapbookmomof4 - I told myself I didn't need to sign up and I did it anyway! I get terrible FOMO.
I'm going to try to ignore the Fall C&C event emails. I'm already signed up for two other events this fall, but dammit C&C has the BEST boxes!

I've done 2 card making ones and I'm also doing the scrapbooking one next weekend. My main issue is - I have so many cards now! I've made 30+ for both card making events, and I love having a stash, but I also only send about 30 all year. I love making cards and I have a million stamp sets but I'm finding myself less motivated to make my own cards now. Really silly, I know. But it's a lot of money and a lot of product - however, I love the events and enjoy being a part of the community even if i don't participate a lot on FB or anything. If I love the scrapbooking one next weekend I'll probably do that one again because I can always use more scrapbook pages. I may adapt the mini album to 12x12 pages, though.

I'm going to do both the card and papercrafting events in the fall. I want to do the Christmas one, but I really do not need any more holiday products.

scrappyem did your box arrive? I spent last night clearing off my scrap area and started on class prep. The book doesn’t really have much “homework” for the first two classes - it just jumps right into building the layouts. I got halfway through the first layout by Meghann before I stopped. Not sure why they don’t ask us to cut the papers for homework and then assemble it all during class. I did get the photos needed printed and ready to go for that one. Tonight I hope to look in the book for Jess’ class and see if I can do some prep work for that. This is so different from the card classes!

What about donating your extra cards, either locally, like to a nursing home or shelter, or to one of the on-line donation groups? They are great events, I don’t blame your waffling!

That's a good idea, although I don't think the nursing homes/shelters accept drop-offs right now - things are still pretty shut down where I live. I actually work in the charity industry (but on the Foundation side, not the day-to-day side) so maybe I'll just email a few contacts and see what they say. Thanks!

I spent a couple hours yesterday going through the event booklet & lunch-n-learn PDFs and decided which photos I want to scrapbook. Today I printed any photos that needed printing, placed them into page protectors and then into the 13x13 class bags. I am SO ready for tomorrow!!

How was everyone's day? I only caught a little bit here and there but it was fun to see what people are doing. Going great! I’ve done 5 layouts thus far. I skipped Vicki’s class for now as I have to be in the mood to listen to her. She can be a bit much for me and 3.5 hours is a long time to listen to anyone! 🤣 I have something tomorrow afternoon that will take me away for a bit, but I hope to play catch up on Monday. I love seeing everyone’s take on the different classes. So fun!!

I love seeing everyone’s take on the different classes. So fun!! I've done three layouts, and the two albums. I LOVED the Close to my Heart album - it was easy to make and came together very quickly. I just wish it was in an actual album, not cardboard sides. Vicki Boo's class today was a hot mess. Someone kept saying there was an echo and there was nothing she could do about it (I didn't notice it, so I think it was on the person's end, not Vicki's). We cut everything out first, and then assembled the album. That's where it fell apart for me - so many of the papers were similar colors/designs and so many different cuts - it was hard to keep it all straight. And people were complaining, slow down, we want to glue it down and she said no - do that later. Let's just put the pages together with paper clips, you can glue it down and put the embellishments after class. Class still ran over 3 1/2 hours - I gave up the last couple pages and will finish the album at a later date. I really enjoyed Paige Evans layout and the bonus projects she shared. Tomorrow is Virginia Nebel's class and then Jess Forster. I am going to do Virginia's class, but not sure about Jess - it's pocket pages and I don't do those. Hoping I can translate them into a regular 12x12 page.

I had a real problem with Vicki’s album class. The papers were not anything I would ever buy and use. They are very beautiful and look like Anna Griffin to me which again, beautiful, just not what I use or buy. Ever. Thought I would just use another line instead. I happened to have a full kit of Simple Stories Hearth & Home. I have the 6x8 pad and coordinating thickers and die cuts. Seemed like it should have been an easy swap but it wasn’t. @mdscrapaholoc, you are right. There were so many cuts. So many cuts. Lots of scoring too. I didn’t find the photos of her album pages very helpful and there were some mistakes on her page cutting diagrams and the written instructions were just not very clear to me. The blue Simple Stories album doesn’t coordinate with my papers and I tried to find a collection that I have to match it but wanted to stick with SS products to make it easier for me to sub what was in the class kit. I stopped cutting my paper really early into the class because it was just too much for me with my different papers! I’d like to rewatch the class and try again but…..it’s a lot. And no I won’t just make this album with the pretty papers it comes with and use it as a gift. I quit making things like this for gifts a long time ago because they aren’t appreciated based off my past gift giving experiences.
Paige Evans class was so cute. I debated hand cutting all those circles but I went ahead and did it and glad I did. So cute and really liked the handouts of the extra pages we can make.
That’s all I did so far. I’m sorry to say that I’m not looking forward to Victoria Calvin’s class because it’s the same products that they sent in last fall’s box. It’s the Jen Hadfield line and I liked it so much that i bought a bunch of it after the crop was over. Very disappointed to find it in a class kit again because I already have it. And have used it. Now they want me to use it again. Why?? ETA: should clarify, it is the same product line that they sent us a kit of last fall.
I’ll be back to post my thoughts on todays classes.
Oh, I saw that Close To My Heart album kit and I’m scratching my head and wondering why it’s not in an actual album……will it fit into an album?? I’m going to see if it does and then I’ll make it. If it doesn’t, I won’t be using it either. Or the Easter products we got. I have two grown sons. We don’t do the Easter bunny anymore. I’m complaining! I’m sorry! I know they can’t please everyone. This is my second Crop and Create. My first one was last fall and in my opinion, the fall box was just so much better. And I swear Vicki had a new line recently and I’m wondering why her album class didn’t use her products. And isn’t there a line of hers that came out a few months ago? Woodland something? My guess is pandemic shipping delays. Oh well.

Interesting to hear everyone's take on the classes. Paige's class is the only one I actually did. I liked it a lot. I could see doing one of her mini book online classes in the future. I watched a bit of Cathy Z's design lunch and learn. Vicki is a a lot of personality for me too. I'll be curious how those pages turns out. janesays I'm with you on the papers being pretty but nothing I'd normally use and I'm not at all sure what I'll do with it. Hoping to catch a bit more today and then do some more next week. Can't wait to hear what you all think after the classes today.

I was hoping to use it for DD. But the class was way more than I expected. I knew going in that it was an all day class. However, I found it too overwhelming and the size of the album is huge. Looking forward to two more classes today!

I would have thought they would use a much newer line. That line is lovely, but old news in the SB world. I loved the techniques that VB taught in the fall class, but her class was kind of a mess last time too. I think she was the one who kept talking about the diet plan she was on. I really enjoyed the fall session, but I am glad I didn’t sign up this time. I really hate the Facebook interface and although I know part of the class is the people being able to interact, but I found some of the instructors couldn’t focus on both teaching and responding and would get side tracked by questions. And I know there not supposed to be any stupid questions, but there really are. Some of the things people would ask were so ridiculous and the fact that it sidetracked the teachers was annoying. I hope everyone participating has fun though and will maybe share their projects with us?

LOL, yes, there are stupid questions! The ones already in the booklet- can you please refer to your handouts rather than asking the instructor, who then has to refer to HER booklet and give you the answer! I enjoyed Vicki's techniques last fall, but hated the "cut all these sizes and paperclip together". And rather than "cut all these sizes", it would be better to wait until you had the photos and could exactly size to fit. Please someone tell us: what line did Vicki use for the album? I did not sign up for this one because I discovered last fall that it's just not how I scrap - I design around my photos; I don't choose my photos to fit a very specific layout.

Vicki used SS simple vintage indigo garden. I had already made a mini album with this line in a Layle Koncar class. I print photos ahead of the class after receiving the kit instructions. So I'm waiting on doing Vickie's album until I have more time because I think it's going to be a gift.

I wasn't really interested in the idea of the CTMH project. However, I did it and find that I like it better than I expected. I wish that the homework had been announced a bit earlier than it was. I was trying to keep up with getting the proper die cut and adhering and just had to give that up. It was very necessary to have all of the die cuts out of the backing, into their proper stack and the "journal cards" cut out! I gave up on the doing and just started getting the die cuts organized and watching the presentation. I have taken time for a couple of pages since. I am more than a bit miffed at the album situation -- I would prefer a "real" album over the jump rings -- but just try to find a 6x8 3 ring album -- anywhere BUT Close to My Heart! Oh - Hobby Lobby had one, but it is a chip board one so doesn't add anything to the project. I shouldn't be surprised!
I like - maybe that should now be past tense - Vicki B. I appreciate - maybe that should now be past tense - her enthusiasm. When the Indigo Blue first appeared I was interested - but decided there are too many birds and butterflies. Then Vicki is using it for this project and I was interested enough to take a deep breath and jump in for the project - there is nothing else I will do with the paper and (I thought) she usually has a pretty bold look. I was one with "echo" issues -- after she shifted the camera, her position changed to the mic (I think) so I was getting a lot of echo I did everything she suggested - which then made my replay not in sync with the live - but those adjustments did nothing. When it was clear that there was nothing she was going to change on her end, I just "lived with the echo". I had 2 big cutting errors -- the first was totally my fault with a measurement and it isn't so far off that I can't "live with it"; the second is a bigger mistake. VB was saying just listen to her instruction and don't reference the cutting guide -- I HEARD her say 4 3x12 strips - the cutting guide said 3 4x12 strips -- nothing to be done but find a new pink sheet of cardstock. Which is a real deficit in my cardstock stash. I'll deal with it. But - now I suggest my "like" and "appreciate" is "past tense" -- she is a bit ... for me ... too much. Maybe not too much for a 1/2 hour -- but totally too much for 3 1/2 hours! She is too "free wheeling" on the presentation when there is a cutting guide which she says she created FROM -- too many free wheeling mistakes in the presentation when the cutting guide (that we were told to ignore) had the RIGHT information! Too many "too cute" mannerisms; she started saying "boop", and making a joke with Cathy Z about it (I've already complained about that terrible "tic" from Cathy Z - I think it is juvenile and "coyingly affected" - I totally know she is riffing off a popular "cult" TV show - It drives me crazy!) Anyway -- I think the order of the presentation by VB was oaky -- cut everything THEN arrange it into pages. She said that was what she was going to do at the outset. At the outset she said we would adhere and finish the book LATER. There is no reason anyone should be upset about the pace since VB said we were not adhering at the time. But, as someone else said, getting the pieces into page order was a trial since so many of them look exactly the same, front and back. I'll finish the book -- sometime, probably sooner than I would ordinarily get to it since it is now stored in a container than I want to use someplace else!
I like Paige's cut files; I don't necessarily care for her pages. I'll check out the presentation on replay .... later .... maybe I can follow the picture and the directions for the remaining double page layouts. There were things I needed get done today so all I did was peek at the presentation, the material -- to see if there was anything of particular interest. Nope
The evening wind up is substantially different -- no "keynote" speaker. The prizes are much fewer and smaller and it seems that there is much fewer manufacturer donation to the prize bucket. I'm going to go back and look, but the paper crafting sessions seem like there are fewer classes -- oh yes, they added stuff on Friday - an advertisement from Scrapbook.com and Totally Tiffany, the CTMH project, the Simple Stories card kit, But what they "sold" was just 4 classes: one mini album from VB; 3 other classes with 2 double page layouts and plugged in two other "mini classes" from Paige and Victoris Calvin. The seems like fewer classes than previously -- perhaps not .. maybe it is a timing thing but it "feels" like less. I doubt that I'll do the next session -- this one already felt very repetitive but still Less.
I totally agree with the poster who spoke of the "stupid questions" -- there are WAY TOO MANY stupid questions and unfortunately "have to keep everyone happy" instructors. They should each have a moderator to run interference for them -- I'd volunteer, but they wouldn't like my moderation! LOL!!

Wow, I'm glad I skipped Vicki B's class. I decided not to do it because I'm not a fan of mini albums (except for December Daily which I love). I figure I'll just use the papers to scrapbook 12x12 layouts, although I'm not sure I'm a fan of the paper - but I haven't looked through the class kit yet, so maybe I'll end up loving it.
I loved Paige's class. I'm so happy I made it along with her. It's the only project I finished completely. I am officially a Paige Evans convert. I see the joy in just creating a beautiful page and not worrying about the photos and stories all the time - sometimes just playing with paper is just what I need. I wasn't sure about signing up in the fall but she's doing a proper class with several layouts so that may just nudge me over the edge. I have to buy her new collection, it's right up my alley. I did buy her stitched designs bundle from her website last night - I am really into stitching on cards and pages (along with everyone else, it's very trendy right now).
I did the other main classes too, but didn't finish them - mostly I have to do the journalling, and since I like to type the journalling it just wasn't feasible. I love the projects, though. I am so pleased with the travel layouts from Meghann Andrews - I finally scrapbooked a few photos from a 2019 vacations, it feels great to have that done. I loved Virginia's pages, and I like her as a teacher. I also liked Jess Forster's pages- the double page spread in particular was very pretty.
I still have to do Victoria's class and CTMH, so no comment on those. I also missed the Easter pages class, I didn't even see when that was - maybe last night? I did print out Easter photos from when my son was a little boy back in 2004 and will for sure do that project.
This was my first scrapbooking Crop and Create, and I'm definitely a fan. I wish they'd skip the mini albums and pocket pages, though. I do PL already and find the concept simple enough that people can figure it out on their own.
Oh, and about the stupid questions - I agree, especially when the question is about something like a coupon code or some other issue that the instructor has nothing to do with, like a missing product. It seems like some people ask questions just to get noticed, too, because their question has nothing to do with the class or makes it appear they're trying to be really deep or insightful when the instructor just doesn't have time for that.

Whew, finally over. I'm beat. I ended up quitting after the Victoria Marie Lunch n Learn - I loved that! She is so fun - I like her scrappy style! I did this layout for her class: Meghann Andrews class on vacation from yesterday: The Close to My Heart album: I should have stayed for Jess Forster's class, I thought she was just doing pocket pages, but she did a really nice two page layout. I'll have to try and do that this week. I think the Easter pages were just one of Virginia's attendee extras. I didn't take a look at that yet. I don't think I will sign up for another one of these, but you never know. FOMO is great LOL. I will sign up for the Fall card making one, so have an alarm set on my phone for Tuesday! I wish they would have one just for holiday cards.

MDscrapaholic , I gave your layout a like when I saw it in the FB group this afternoon. It’s really pretty! I looked through Victorias class uploads from everyone and the layouts are very nice. I’ll probably give that class a chance because I see she had great ideas on how to use that 6x8 paper on a 12x12. BTW - I looked through last falls travelers notebooks we did in Layle’s class and yeah, we got the die cut pack and sticker book last fall. I’m sure I can’t be the only one that noticed. Maybe it’s mentioned in the class. Virginia’s class was great. I love her cool, calm and collected persona. Excellent teacher and projects! I can’t really comment on Jess Forester. She puts me to sleep and I don’t mean that in a negative way. She starts talking and I just zone out. Her pages were really pretty, the product she used, Pinkfresh, super cute. I just have a really hard time paying attention in the few classes I have taken from her. I didn’t get a chance to take Megan’s class. I hope to get that done this week. I really like her a lot and the photos of everyone’s projects from her class were really cute. I’m on the fence about the fall and holiday crops. I would like to take them but I’m worried about another Vicki B. class. And then I see there will be a Simple Stories year at a glance album. Not something I’m interested in. But Paige is doing a full workshop and Meghan another one too and I really like the both of them. The holiday one sounded pretty good.
