MDscrapaholic, your pages are GORGEOUS: that new baby page is amazing! And the book looks like it would be fun to fill with stories and photos. When I sign up for these events I don't plan to follow and craft along. I am not on fb. What I usually do is watch the class video with the book open to see if I can make sense of the written instructions on my own. Then if I need more help when I actually do the project, I watch the saved video a second time: I can fast forward through discussions that have nothing to do with me, and stop the recording if I need time to catch up. I am a terrible student, anyway. My mind wanders. Or I get excited about one little part of the project and want to play with that idea while it is fresh in my mind. For the Holiday class, I borrowed the designs for the pocket pages for my Christmas cards. And some of the card ideas ended up on pages. Some of the goodies from the box went on my own projects, and some of the pages I created with completely different supplies at a later date. That idea to precut the papers and paper clip together is something the SCT people have done before with different instructors. I ordered a SNAP album class from them a couple of years ago, and that was how it was laid out. I basically used the dining room table and cut all the pieces, sorted them, and paper clipped them together in page sets. They said that it was so we wouldn't wreck one side of the paper when we were cutting pieces of the other side. I started assembling the book that way, but it didn't take me long to go off the reservation and do my own thing, so I don't think I would do it that way again. I would look for the PL cards or page sections I especially wanted to use, cut those and then leave everything else until I was assembling with photos. Still trying to decide about the fall events. I said to justjac that I should just take the money for the fall event and put it "under the mattress" so that in the fall when they are registering for spring I can sign up for those events. After last fall I have TONS of fall related scrappy supplies.

I’m on the fence about the fall and holiday crops. I would like to take them but I’m worried about another Vicki B. class. And then I see there will be a Simple Stories year at a glance album. Not something I’m interested in. But Paige is doing a full workshop and Meghan another one too and I really like the both of them. The holiday one sounded pretty good. You summed it up for me. Paige and Meghann are pulling me towards signing up. However, the holiday one is only $150 CDN and only runs Friday-Saturday and that sounds really appealing, too. Looking on Instagram, though, I wasn't too impressed with the holiday projects last year - but that may just be what was posted there and may not reflect the actual classes. I think it's a great way to get in the Christmas spirit. I can’t really comment on Jess Forester. She puts me to sleep and I don’t mean that in a negative way. She starts talking and I just zone out. Her pages were really pretty, the product she used, Pinkfresh, super cute. I just have a really hard time paying attention in the few classes I have taken from her. I feel the same way, I just didn't know how to put it into words. I had a call with TurboTax for the first 30 minutes of her class and I didn't even mind because she just chatted for that time and didn't work on the project anyway. I hung up just in time to get started. I do love the 2 page layout we did, though, it's so pretty.

Wow, I just looked at the prices for the fall events. The card event is $260 USD plus $28 for shipping. Paper crafting is $240 plus $28 for shipping. Holiday event is $130 plus $24 shipping. All went up in price.
I hope they can combine shipping if you do more than one event. I’m going to sign up for the card event tomorrow. Still on the fence about the others.

This was my first crop and create so I have nothing to compare it to except what I’ve heard in the past. I did enjoy receiving the big box and the anticipation of the event. I was a little disappointed in what I felt were “ad videos” on Friday night but did skim through both while I worked on a previous project.
On Saturday I watched the prize drawing and there were only four or five picks I think. I did the card class with Jana because I knew it would be quick and easy and I realized I wasn’t going to get as much time to scrap as I hoped this weekend. It was fun and I thought she was personable and did a good job.
My hope is to just work on classes here and there over the next few months. I’m looking forward the most to Jess, Paige and Virginia’s so will prob do those first. I have to admit I was disappointed in the sponsor bag. It seems they were better in the past according to posts I’ve read.
I thought about doing the fall one but have decided once a year will prob be enough. I go to a weekend retreat to scrapbook at a hotel in the fall once a year so that will make a nice rotation of fun scrap events.

MDscrapaholic beautiful projects! I finished the layout for Victoria's class and definitely need to use my paper pads more. I didn't get a chance to do Virginia or Jess's projects, but had the videos on. I changed my mind about the photos I had planned to use after seeing the class so I need to rethink things. I liked Jess's two page layout but the class wasn't really my style. I just don't journal that much. I'm thinking of doing the fall paper crafting and holiday events. Im really interested in Meghann's and Paige's classes and think the holiday event sounds fun. I don't know anyone in real life who scraps and there are no stores or events in my area so I really like taking these classes even when they aren't exactly my style.

Anyone else able to get on and purchase the fall events? I keep getting a server capacity error message. They put up a message in the FB group that the server is down and IT is working on it. She said they will send out another email as soon as it's ready.

I am so weak - I signed up for both paper crafting and card making. I was tempted to sign up for holiday, too, because they had a $25 off offer if you bought all 3 - but I resisted that one, at least.
I wonder how long they'll continue to have these events online now that in person is starting up again next year. I figure I better do them now while I can, but who knows, maybe they're so successful they'll keep doing online forever, too.

I believe Catherine did say that they would continue with the online events, but I’m not 100% sure. Surely they know many of us can’t travel to Canada yet.

Same for me! About 20 years ago, I had the prettiest scrapbook store in my area and it held crops and parties and holiday crafting events and workshops. It was so much fun. Me and my sweet neighbors and friends would go. I miss those days and those people I have lost touch with. These online events kind of give me a taste of those fun times. I went ahead and grabbed a spot in the papercrafting and holiday crops. I’ll give SCT another chance because I enjoyed these two weekends last fall. I won’t do another spring event. I enjoyed the fall/holiday weekends much more than this spring one.

I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the classes and the weekend of scrappiness. Meghann’s class was great, even if I already had that stamp set. 😉 I would have loved an exclusive, new Elle’s Studio stamp like previous events. I enjoy her calm demeanor and her teaching style.
Paige was fun, and I switched mine up to just be circles and not flowers. Virginia was awesome as always. Her designs are great and she’s a great teacher. I really appreciated she challenged herself to create one layout without flowers.
I had to leave for a school event, so haven’t done Jess’s class yet.
I was disappointed the VM mini class used the same line as in the fall, mainly because I don’t like it - way too muted for my taste and that peach is yuck.
Vicki’s class wasn’t what I expected - I didn’t think it would take the full time just to cut and sort paper. I do like all the flips and folds and plan to translate some of the ideas to my Christmas album.
I feel like the cardmaking event had a lot more value on Friday than this one did. The CTMH album felt like something out of 2005, and I wasn’t super interested in it. I did like the page with the colorful hearts and will use that on a layout.
I’m also disappointed that the SS mini kit was a card kit…for the scrapbooking event. They didn’t have the cardmakers make a layout. I would have preferred a layout either from one of their kits or even the page pieces like Virginia used.
I felt like the prizes were kind of light, as well as the goodie bag.
Overall, it was a great weekend and I’ve sign up for the fall.
