I really don’t care for large polka dot patterns, paisley, zig zags, or chevrons.
I love diagonal plaids, though. Not ordinary plaid. They have to be diagonal.

No; my dislike of wonky patterns is totally rational. By definition, a line is straight & geometric shapes are symmetrical (with few exceptions). Yet, collections in the popular handdrawn illustration style modify classic patterns, such as plaids, stripes, dots, & stars, with wobbly lines & irregular circles & stars. Given that I cannot draw a line, even with a ruler, I - & toddlers - can create the same/similar scrawlings & blobs without paying $1.00/sheet + shipping! UGH... I also scroll past most floral, damask, paisley, vintage, floating icon, scenic, photorealistic, people, etc. patterns because they’re not my style, & I'll never use them. ETA: ...I love diagonal plaids, though... I also diagonal plaids!

For anyone who is wondering here's a (giant, sorry!) visual of the differences between gingham, buffalo check, and plaid.

Nope- Gingham has full coloured squares in my book I would call that a linear checked pattern

Surprised to see so much dislike for gingham. My mother made me dresses when I was a child with gingham fabric and I've always kept a fondness for it. It seems like such a classic, innocent pattern too.
Maybe it's the high contrast of traditional gingham colours (white + red/mid-tone blue)? It can make it hard to use and distracting next to photos and traditional embellishments.

Chevron. Don't ask. I don't know why but it's just a big no-no to me. It was all over scrapbook collections a few years ago, too. Me, too. I hate chevron and paisley. I never buy anything paisley, scrapbooking or other. I love gingham and plaids. But, sorry, scrapnnana, never diagonal plaids!

I don't hate many patterns. I do find some harder to work with than others. Large words (unless I can fussy cut them out and use them as parts of titles). Readable script. Random cacti and tigers and... Bold patterns in contrasting colours that distract from the photos.
Pattern and colour set the mood for me when putting together a page. I don't often feel flowery, so flowery background papers don't often work for me. Gingham calls to mind table cloths or tea towels and so I tend to use them on food or baking pages. Plaids seem to be masculine, so I use them with quite a few of my boy LO's. (I prefer the diagonal ones cuz they seem to go more with the action in many of my photos. Chevrons I can work with if they are tone on tone. Same for zigzagged lines. If there is too much contrast they seem to jump and give me a headache.

I don't like paisley, but I do have a background stamp and an embossing folder with paisley designs that are nice. I don't like chevrons, triangles, quatrefoil, and damask. If it looks like my grandmother's wallpaper or upholstery fabric, I won't use it on my scrapbook pages, cards, or mixed media projects. I can't stop laughing about the description of damask.

I really don't like scallop (scalloped?) edges or patterns.
No chevron, no to most polka dots.

If that were a shirt, maybe with a red tie and navy sports jacket. With my handsome looks, nobody would even notice the shirt. Yes, I live there; "On the outskirts of the back of my mind."

Herringbone! Damask, plaids, gingham. Paisley.
They all remind me too much of the terrible clothes my mother tried to get me to wear growing up.

I love pp as a rule and have to think hard about this question. I cannot stand or use the poop emoji on anything, not even a potty training page. There were some papers with that poop emoji all over and that was a big no from me.
Of course mustaches. Just no. But I guess those are more themes than patterns.
Patterns - I can't think of much I havent used. As a theme scrapper I will use anything that meets a theme I am doing. Maybe someone will list something here and I will have to edit this post!
When someone says they hate photo realistic papers I feel so protective of them like someone just slapped my child. You said what? That is crazy thinking on my part but I just love them so much.

Sorry myboysnme , but where do you put your photos on photo realistic paper? It’s hard to put more than one photo on those, and it’s usually placed over the sky, or on part of the background so not to cover the photo on the paper. I really struggle with using them, and think I’ve only used a couple. One being a photo realistic paper of multiple pumpkins that I used for a Halloween layout.

There was this thread a few months ago that talked about how to use these types of papers and myboysnme shared several of her pages. I've never been a fan of them, for the same reasons you've listed, but I think this shows how they can be used as a full background successfully. I really love how she's tucked the photo block in under the palm tree on the Under the Palms page and I feel like the photos are an extension of the background paper on the Salmon Creek Falls layout.

Hate - paisley, quatrefoil, triangles, large polka dots.
Love - gingham, plaid, small polka dots.
I also love patterned paper that is a sheet of little hearts, clouds, or maps.

where do you put your photos on photo realistic paper I have shared some of my more recent layouts on the link Chinagirl828 shared. If you check out the thread I have 4 that I posted first and then a bit further down the thread there are a whole bunch of others. I just want people to love them as much as I do so they will keep making them. But if not, it's ok (sniff sniff) I'll try to get over it....

I do not like paper with people on it. It's hard to explain, but I also have a problem with pattern paper with an image that repeats like a tile across the paper--like you can clearly and regularly see where one repeat of an image ends and the next repeat starts.
