I miss it. I'm not sure if I even miss the taste, or just the experience of drinking it. I was hoping to see some health benefits after giving it up, but I really haven't seen a difference. It was so hard to give it up though, it keeps me from going back on it. I'm hoping it will get easier over time.

Have you tried flavoring your water? I put lemon in mine. Some people put cucumber or melon in their water to flavor it. If it's the 'bubbles' you're missing, perhaps a soda stream + flavored water might help?
Good on you for giving up the diet coke, though. That stuff really is poison.

I have to be honest. I haven't missed it...until my mom came for a visit and had one. Then she proceeded to ask me if I wanted some. Then I wanted one. I didn't cave though. Hang in there! I've quit and started at least 3 times. This has been the longest for me.

I didn't join in on the peas quitting...missed that thread somehow....but I pretty much quit in September. I have had 3 at various times when I have gotten a combo out somewhere and are unsure of how their tea taste. I can tell a difference.....I have lost 10 pounds and just feel better. I don't feel as bloated all the time like I did.

I haven't had a diet coke in about 3 years now. There are times I miss it but it is just a habit thing with me. I would always drink them when I traveled by car so when I am getting ready to go somewhere I kind of want one. There is also something about being stressed that makes me want one. I'm going through a ton of stressful stuff right now and I have thought about drinking one. But in the end I know I'm better off without them so I don't drink one. I do flavor my water sometimes with Mio drops or Crystal Light. But I've gotten so used to drinking water that I really crave it most of the time.

I went cold turkey 12 1/2 years ago and really don't miss it. Occasionally I miss the bubbles that would tickle my nose from Coke. I admit that I have gone so far as to sniff a glass in hopes of getting that feeling lol but that was a long time ago.

I gave it up years ago and don't miss it. I also have to be really careful about caffeine meaning if I drink one around noon I am awake at 2 am so unless it is caffeine free I can't drink it anyways. I tried it again a few times over the years but after a while it just didn't taste good to me. It took years to get to this point after a few months it still tasted good.
I do drink seltzer water occasionally when I get bored with water. I didn't drink diet soda though as I always thought is tasted bad and didn't want the chemicals but I got to the point where I didn't want that much sugar either.

I miss the carbonation. I drink Club Soda when that craving hits.

I haven't had pop in almost 3 years. I find on the very rare occasion that I feel like I want one, it's because I'm thirsty. Water takes care of that real quick.
The thought of drinking a pop anymore isn't all that appealing. Way too sweet.

I quit soda a little over a year ago due to acid reflux/GERD. It was really just a matter of breaking the habit more than anything, although I really love soda at the time. I don't miss it now but I did a first.

I'm not sure this would help, but I just bought a SodaStream last week and I love it... I'm not making soda with it, just bubbly water...
If I'm out for dinner and want a coke zero I'm going to have one (part of the treat of going out that doesn't happen frequently at all), but I'm good with the bubbly water...
I drink a lot of flat water so I think I turned to soda for something different... The bubbles are enough of a difference that I feel satisfied... Plus it'll keep me from buying bottle of coke or sprite zero, so less temptation around...lol

I gave up soda three years ago. Sugared soda, as I'm allergic to Nutra Sweet. I don't miss it, at all.
My husband decided to give it up a few months later, when he saw that was happy with my glass of water at mealtimes, and didn't cave. Teenaged DD followed suit soon after. DS hates all things carbonated, so never got into the soda habit.
The only time I buy soda is when I am hosting for others. The leftovers sit in my garage until the next time I have guests. I have a can or two of a multitude of flavors, left over from our indulging days. But most of our guests prefer diet soda.
This Thanksgiving I bought a new 12 pack of soda for our guests. I bought it from Safeway, which was having a "buy two, get two 12 packs free" sale. I walked up with one 12 pack of diet coke, and the cashier extolled the benefits of buying 4, any variety.
I explained that I didn't want to store 4+ years worth of soda in my garage.

I gave up soda several years ago. I will still have some when we go out to eat with a burger--it just isn't the same without a Coke for me, but I don't crave it afterwards. Thankfully, I don't get a stomach ache, but I don't drink a lot nor often...maybe I have an iron stomach? What I do miss from time to time is the fizz. I love the bubbles, but not the calories. When I get a fizzy craving, I get some club soda. That does it for me. I get the bubbles, but not the calories. It's maybe not the best thing, but better than a full fledged soda. One little can (not the regular sized ones cola/gingerale comes in, but they're about half the size) gets me through my craving and I can go months without wanting another one.

Gave up the daily Cokes (2-3) about 12 years ago. I've gone for years without having more than a sip of my husband's when eating out. If I have one now (I keep some mini 8oz ones in the garage) it's maybe once every 6 months and I'm done after about 4oz worth.

I quit back around Easter and for the most part don't miss it. I do buy myself arranciata cans and will have one occasionally. No artificial sweeteners and no high fructose corn syrup. I like the tang after drinking so much water. I don't like iced tea and feel like that has carbonation and tartness to satisfy my need for soda.
I have had sips of soda every now and then when nothing else is around (like in the car) but it does not particularly taste good or gets me craving more.

I quit years ago but once in awhile, I will buy Honest (brand) root beer and enjoy a nice cold root beer.
I was in France this fall and ordered a coke and it was the real thing - not the crap they sell in the US and I enjoyed it and it didn't make me sick.
Won't drink coke in the states the high fructose corn syrup upsets my stomach and I have to spend the day near a toilet, just not with it.

I quit Diet Coke about a year ago and I really only want one when we go out to the movies. There's something about a Coke and popcorn. Well, I decided to treat myself a few weeks ago and got one at the movies. I couldn't even drink more than 3 sips. It was so sickening sweet and I got a headache. So, I guess I'm officially done with it now.

I gave up Diet Coke in February of 2012. I went through a little period of time last winter where I allowed myself to have a Diet Coke at the movies. I just love Diet Coke with popcorn or with pizza. I told myself I could have one when I went to the movies and that was it. Before I knew it I was back to making a stop at the gas station to get a fountain soda and was addicted all over again. That went on for about 2 months and I gave it up again. I will have some carbonated water (La Croix and Ice Mountain are my faves) when I am craving that fizzyness but I'll be honest, I still want to have a Diet Coke on a regular basis. I just don't do it. Now ... if I could just exercise that much self control when I want pizza!

I also gave it up cold turkey many years ago. I don't miss it one bit! When we go out to eat I always bring my reusable water bottle with me or I get a lemonade. Or a beer, depending on where we eat. About once every other month when I'm craving bubbles, I used to buy a 2 liter bottle of Fresca. However, my neighborhood WM stopped carrying it. And I refuse to pay $1.89 at publix for it. So no more soda for me. No one in my family drinks soda. Our 12 year old son has NEVER even had a sip of soda. When we go out to eat, he gets water.

It was so hard to give it up though, it keeps me from going back on it. I'm hoping it will get easier over time. I saw ZERO health benefits for quitting pop of any kind. So I went right back to drinking it. Nothing changed either way. I've just cut way back. I understand that some do see some health benefits from quitting but because I didn't see a single one, it makes me think that the benefits are overstated. I drink pop like I eat everything else... in moderation. And I think that's the right way to go. Bubbles are just too nice to drink to quit them.

I quit close to a year ago and I don't miss it. Even when I've fallen off the healthy eating wagon, I STILL haven't picked up soda. I think I can officially say I'm done with it for good. I don't like the way it makes me feel after I drink it. I feel bloated and icky.

I actually don't miss it at all. There are times I've had enough water and would like something else, so I drink tea, but other than that, it doesn't really bother me. I do still have a diet cranberry limeade from Sonic every 2-3 weeks. That satisfies the need for carbonation. I have had 2 sips since July 14th. The first one I did on purpose to see if it tasted different to me after 3 months of not having any...it didn't. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I accidentally grabbed DH's to go cup instead of mine. I just had a small sip. It still tasted good, but I resisted having any more.

But it took me a couple of weeks not to want ritual of wine at end of the day.

I mostly quit about five years ago. I was getting almost daily headaches and while trying to figure out why, I read several articles that talked about how some people are allergic to the aspartame in diet coke. I thought it would be an easy fix, so I gave them up to see what would happen. Turns out, it made a huge difference for me so away they went. For the most part, I drink club soda w/lime when I go out, water and le croix water (w/lime) at home, and tons of coffee. My objections aren't related to caffeine at ALL. These days I will drink a random diet coke here and there. It's all about moderation really and I know what happens when I drink one (I get a headache) and decide if it matters to me or not at that time. I am not militant about it at all.

Not at all! I don't miss the headaches or eye twitching either.
I am pretty disappointed that I have not seen any weight loss from it though, but I think that has to do with all the tea I have been drinking. I need to cut that out.

TankTop, I haven't heard of eye twitching side effects. Is that literal? My son was complaining about this last week- I didn't think of sodas. We're in a struggle about too much soda, Gatorade, etc now that he's mobile on his own.

I had a bad Diet Coke habit that I gave up when I was pregnant with my first. Honestly I'll have a Diet Coke when out to lunch every now and then, but very very rarely. I used to crave it more.
Like a pp, I have a soda stream, and I do drink a ton of unflavored, bubbly water.
