I had been holding off purchasing an Ink Stand just because I thought I could create my own the shipping was outrageous. Well they had a free shipping promo recently and I ordered the 6 slot mini ink stand, a rectangle ink stand and a distress ink stand. I finally got to use them this weekend. WOW WOW WOW! Game Changer for me. It was so nice to be able to put ink on my blending brush without getting my fingers inky and without having to hold the pad. I cannot recommend these enough! One handed inking is so much more efficient As I was copying the link to add to this thread, the banner on the website says still Free Shipping, no code necessary. Get them while you can!!!!! inkstandshop.com

Thanks for sharing! I had intended to buy these until I learned a non-stick silicone mat will do the same. I've had no problems with ink pads moving around while using the non-stick silicone mat from SB.com. I place it on my desk and use the Make Art Stay-tion on top. It works great! I just learned about using a stamping platform for ink blending stencils - I'm excited to try that out!

SSS now has a similar one that holds more mini cubes closer together, which I think I’d prefer, though see why some would rather have them spaced apart.
I have two for Distress Oxides but because I’m not really back to card making (painful), have only tried them once. They’re nicely made and I didn’t realize they were magnetic.

I'm guessing the SSS ripping off (adapting?) the Ink Stand's idea might be why they're offering free shipping. Once one company adapts an idea everyone will come up with their own version. Scrapbk.com will probably have their own exclusive version before the end of the year and will mark it down by 40% every chance they get. It sucks for the small businesses coming up with good ideas, which I assume the Ink Stand is.

I’d like a Ranger blending tool holder where 4-6 could be put down without rolling. Then again something could be rigged up with chipboard or even laminated cardstock. Where's don?

Have you heard of/seen the Etsy shop MakeItbyMarko? They sell 3D printed craft tools, including blending brush caddies, glue stands, etc. They don't seem to have one for Ranger tools, but I bet they would be receptive to a new idea, since they cater specifically to the papercraft market. You could try messaging the owner with the concept, if you want.

So I'm thinking a piece of dense foam from Home Depot type store (insulation area). Trace your container and carve out to the depth you need. I think you could use about anything you could cut into, like cardboard and layer them. From what I see in those pics, that's what theirs resemble, of course they made a mold. You can do it, 2easy 2peasy.

It could just be flat with maybe 5 scoops in it (not the right word) so the tools could lay down without rolling.

That gray packing foam that comes in some packaging would be good. ETA like this, maybe the 6x6x1? Or 12x6x1 to cut off some to practice on. I wonder what a good scooper tool would be. Maybe a melon baller. www.amazon.com/Sculpture-Block-SB-151550-Pack/dp/B07H6CC44Y/ref=sr_1_9?crid=3ROSIVRTKBBTE&keywords=carvable%2Bfoam&qid=1650420321&sprefix=carvable%2Bfoam%2Caps%2C65&sr=8-9&th=1ETA2 or just adhere skewers or skinny dowels cut to size - or narrow strips of chipboard - to a piece of thicker chipboard. I just realized I’ve OT’d this thread too much - my apologies!

For the TH blenders - what about using that foam that keeps your toes apart for pedicures?

pinklady what are they made out of? With free shipping I may have to try one! It seems like some sort of really light weight plastic, PVC maybe. Its light weight but sturdy all at the same time.

pinklady what are they made out of? With free shipping I may have to try one! Here is a link to her recent IG live. At about 40:50, she said they are made of PVC. I tried to make my own out of chipboard and the drawer liner stuff (so it didn't slip), but I ordered the six mini holder the last time she had free shipping and I love it. It's sturdy and holds the mini's perfectly. SSS now has a similar one that holds more mini cubes closer together, which I think I’d prefer, though see why some would rather have them spaced apart. The chipboard one I made the cubes were closer together and I felt that when using a brush or foam pad the inks were just too close together. I really like this product and I'm one of those DIYers who try something at home a few times before I buy. But I really like this product.

Oh, how funny and perfect if the size is right! Just adhere a couple to a piece of medium or heavy weight chipboard.
