I have 3 of the old Recollections cubes that are divided into 4 horizontally. They are currently stacked vertically 3 high. I would like to have them not on the floor because the lower ones are hard to reach.
If I bought a 3x3 Kallax - would they be too heavy (I use them to store paper/cardstock) to stack horizontally on top of the Kallax?
Open to other ideas as well.

No, they would not be too heavy on the Kallax unit. I just recently put some of my old Michael's cubes on the top of my 2 x 4 Kallax (I have it on it's "side" so it's 2 high and 4 wide). And I'm having no issues at all. My cubes have the 3 drawers in them.

We have 2x4s stacked on top of 4x4s that hold our board game collection. They’ve held up very well through the years, and through many room rearrangements.

Kallax can support a huge load of weight without issue. In our old house we stacked a 4x4 Kallax unit on top of a 2x4 Kallax unit (anchored v v securely to the wall), without any issue to the bottom unit at all.

Good to know! I'm thinking of stacking my 2x4 Kallax on top of my 4x4. I'll definitely get my brother to anchor them, if I do. I don't want to be headline!
