Whoever decided purple and yellow were great school colors, was not a scrapbooker. I can't scrapbook every school page with black and white photos... My high school (and college, and middle school) colors were black and red, or red and gray, I didn't realize how spoiled I was with those nice normal colors:P Do you have any color combos you regularly are stuck dealing with? Please share. We can commiserate together

Whoever decided purple and yellow were great school colors, was not a scrapbooker. I will empathize with you! In MN, those are practically our state colors. MN Vikings colors. (purple and gold, technically) On Sundays when I go grocery shopping, it's like everyone decided to wear the same outfit. DS and DH wear their jerseys and various other stuff in those colors a lot. Those were DD's colors. I was BEYOND excited when DCWV came out with their graduation stack and it was purple and gold, with black and grey. But yes, hard to scrapbook with. I don't see the paper, but here is a link to some of the school stuff I got. www.dcwv.com/?s=graduation&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1

Purple and Gold were also my kid's school colors!
I'm having issues working on my gk's soccer pages. Their jerseys are a mustard yellow.

Purple and gold were my high school graduation colours and as someone who was scrapbooking in a Creative Memories style with strictly cardstock, I can confess to making some truly eye searing purple and yellow layouts.

Not to the same level as your school color issues, but my dog has a bright pink towel that is his "spot" and in so many photos I take of him, plus he has a green and red christmas toy that makes it into a lot of shots too. So when I scrap him, those obnoxious colors are always in the photos!

the high school colours here are purple/gold and DD's college colours are gold/black...I find a white background with the colours as accents helps a lot.

Even though I like my kids' school colors, I have to set aside work on their HS albums when I get tired of it.
Glad I haven't tried scrapping my high school years - colors were black and orange!

As a Charlotte Hornets season ticket holder (& our son having attended their summer basketball camps over the years), I often use white/dove grey/teal/cool dark purple (or mint green/gold/dark granite for the city jerseys/court) sometimes paired with orange or woodgrain.

My high school colors were purple and gold too! I thought the combo was nice, but I also haven't tried scrapping with them either, lol. I could see how the boldness of both the purple and gold would be difficult, but I think a nice light purple and yellow looks lovely.
For whatever reason, there always seems to be a lot of orange in my photos, either in the background or whatever my boys are wearing and its just not my preferred color, so its tough for me to use.

It's sort of the color of a school bus. DH is a Packers fan, so when DD was little she insisted she liked the Vikings and had a Viking's jersey. I don't know if I ever scrapped those photos...

Purple and Gold were also my kid's school colors! I'm having issues working on my gk's soccer pages. Their jerseys are a mustard yellow. My kids' jersey's were always neon lime green or blue and white (which didn't go with any soccer papers.) Mustard yellow would be OK if the soccer season was in the fall, it would go with the dead leaves

My high school colors were purple and gold. I still have flashbacks about those awful gym uniforms. NOT my favorite combination. I can see how that would be hard to scrap.
My nephews' school colors are blue and gold, which is awesome because it is pretty easy to find pleasing papers with that color scheme. One of my nephews goes to Ohio University, which is green and white- very easy to scrap with. Our family is a Browns' family (or were until they decided to get this woman-assaulting quarterback) and I'm pretty tired of scrapping brown and orange. I've scrapped A LOT of brown and orange.
My problematic color problem? We have Christmas over at my sister's and she has this huge rust colored couch that seems to dominate every Christmas photo. It sticks out like a sore thumb on green and red Christmas pages.

I’m probably a weirdo, but I don’t purposefully coordinate my product to my photo.
That’s too much. I use stuff I like.
That being said, there are times I match color to a photo, but I don’t HAVE to do it.
Also. I hate scrapbooking black and white photos. Show me what that moment looked like!!

I have never been so grateful that my high school uniform was navy and white with a tiny thread of burgundy in our kilts!

Have no answer how to scrap purple and yellow. But if I wasn't scrapping the teams in uniform I wouldn't use those colours together on a school LO. And if I did, I might just make each a very narrow mat for the photo or the journaling or for the whole page. My kids' school colours were burgandy and gold, and that's what I did with those colours.
Will have to see what Shimelle says in her classes on the violet side of the rainbow.

I can sympathise with you! I like purple and yellow together, but certainly not for every single school photo!
The AFL football team that I follow wears brown and gold. Or, as opposition supporters say, poo and wee. Ugh. I struggle to scrap photos from the football. I usually bring in some navy as well (which is what they've done with the merchandise).
Could you use just the yellow, then choose another colour that complements the particular shade of purple, instead of the purple?

Can you use the yellow with coordinating colors and in other layouts use purple with coordinating colors? As a Phoenix Suns fan (colors are purple and orange), I can’t support purple and yellow/gold—as those are LA Lakers (and sort of enemy) colors.

Will have to see what Shimelle says in her classes on the violet side of the rainbow. They are sports photos. I might have to invest in a truckload of purple cardstock... at least with my hs orchestra photos the dresses and tuxes are black, the teacher is wearing black, and all the music themed scrapbook paper only seems to come in black and white

I do not really worry about photos matching color themes. I could never turn my memories black and white solely to coordinate with scrapbook paper. In school albums I rarely used the school colors except for graduation albums. When I scrapped my college years one of my schools was Temple Owls and owl paper was popular. Score for me. But rarely did I use red and white, the school colors. My graduation photos were scrapped with grad paper, so mainly black and gold.
My son was involved for years with a group where the colors were red and purple. Over the years I found lots of that color combo. But I also used many other colors as well. I would be unlikely to scrap page after page in the same color combo even if it was a wedding. Some but definately not most.
