Have you compared them? I haven't tried either one but would like to. Nuvo Drops have been everywhere but Pops of Color is new to me. Their reviews look pretty good. Any pea experience? Pops of Color

I have one Pops of Colour that I got as a free gift with purchases and a handful of Nuvo drops - I think they're pretty comparable and I would buy more of either in the future - which would depend on price, availability, and colour

I have both and have compared them. I love Nuvo Drops so was naturally curious when the Pops of Color came out. About an hour ago I was chatting with a friend about doing a comparison video. There are some similarities between the two as well as some differences. The biggest differences are that the Pops feel "looser" to squeeze. I don't need to squeeze as hard as I do for Drops. It's not that Drops are even hard to squeeze...the Pops just come out a lot faster! The other big difference is the color and finish ranges. Nuvo has Pops beat in the quantity of finishes and colors right now. I have a feeling Pops will be catching up though. Nuvo usually releases colors three times a year with different trends. Scrapbook.com isn't tied to anything like that so may be able to release more colors more often. The thirteen gloss finishes that just came out are a great example. I really like how they immediately filled in the basic rainbow in the same finish.
Would anyone here be interested in a comparison video? I have been thinking about adding in some "educational" videos - like ones about Drop finishes and comparing Pops and Drops. I'm a teacher first and foremost and would like to combine that with my love of paper and scrapbooking.

Another question that you might be able to answer- do they both dry to a hard, solid finish? Or is there a bit of softness to them? Could they be smushed if you pressed on them after drying?

Could they be smushed if you pressed on them after drying? Can I say yes and no as an answer? They do dry to a hard finish. They are not enamel dot hard finish though. I wouldn't necessarily be able to smoosh them with my finger, however, if I used my finger nail, I do think I could dent it. I've done it to Nuvo Drops in testing them in the past and the Pops are very much like the Drops. So, they are solid but not rock hard. I'm now annoyed with myself because I had made some test drops earlier in the week and tossed them in the trash yesterday! The Nuvo Drops to get flattened in page protectors. They still keep their circle and they're still raise, but get a flat top. To be honest, that doesn't bother me. I've pointed it out to family and friends and all have said they never even noticed. I think that's one of the things another scrapper would notice but not anyone else. I will work on a script for a comparison video. Do you have anything in particular you'd like to see compared? Finishes, color range, drying time?

I had one Pops of Color that was sent free with an order, I think it was rose gold. I must have had a bad batch, it was runny and never dried. I tossed it.
I am not a fan of nuvo drops, the tops on mine have all dented once I put my pages in albums (and my pages sat flat to dry for weeks, and albums are stored vertically). Thankfully I only invested in 4 or 5 colors. I need to just toss them.
After that experience, I will stick with enamel dots!

mamagidget lilacgal I know that it wasn't the purpose of this thread, but thank you for answering a different question of mine about Nuvo Drops! I used them on some cards and was disappointed to find that they flattened on the top even though I let them dry thoroughly. I thought maybe I had done something wrong, but from what both of you said, sounds like it happens to everyone, which is a shame. I love the idea of having drops in a liquid form so you don't have to mess with enamel dots, but I don't love that they flattten.

Tiny dots on a 12x12" canvas are not really too noticeable. Tiny dots on a card front are quite noticeable. I tend to stick with sequins or gems on cards for that very reason. Pops and Dots are my favorite embellishment but they're not a 100% duplicate for enamel dots. I wish they were though! Maybe Tonic Studios or Scrapbook.com will come out with "Pops/Drops Rock Hard! Edition". A girl can dream can't she? 😌💭

Imagine Tonic/SB.com using that aesthetic to advertise their drops! It would definitely be something different!

lilacgal, I would like to see a comparison video. I love comparing craft and art products.
During the Scrapbook.com product showcase for Crop and Create last month the demonstrator/salesperson did a cool technique that made me want to buy all the Pops of Color - she put a dot of 7 different colours at the bottom of a card front and then used the scraper tool to drag the color up the paper. She covered the paper completely with a thin coat. When it dried it was like a glossy, enamel cardstock in a rainbow pattern. Really pretty and shiny.
I myself have never had any luck with any drop product except Stickles. I've never been able to get decent drops, the consistency is never right. I haven't tried Pops of Color although I did get a free bottle last month from Crop and Create. I'll have to try it out.

lilacgal, I like using Nuvo drops to handwrite titles and doodle designs. I like how easy they are to manage the flow. If the Colour Pops come out of the bottle more easily, would the liquid come out too fast for writing with? Also wondering if the nozzles clog like the Nuvo drops do?

I don't have the Nuvo Drops, but after getting the free sample from SB.com of the Pops of Color, I bought a few colors. DD + I tested them on an acetate sheet. I couldn't tell you how long it took to dry, but we made little Mickey heads. They came off easily and could attach them with adhesive, easy peasy. As was mentioned, definitely not as solid as an enamel dot, but more like hardened Elmer's glue? We were so happy with our test batch, when I ordered the plush 9x12 albums, I ordered more colors. Instead of another plastic item to store them in, I asked DH to use some scrap wood and he was able to drill some holes to fit the caps so I can store them upside down. The only irritating thing is when you first get them, you have to remove that red stopper thing. DD can easily do it, but it can be messy. Otherwise, we really like them and are excited to make fun, custom embellishments in the future. Especially for our Disney album. I like how easy they are to manage the flow. If the Colour Pops come out of the bottle more easily, would the liquid come out too fast for writing with? We now have 20-ish colors, most recently the "Endless Summer" set, and have not had issues with flow at all.

lilacgal , I like using Nuvo drops to handwrite titles and doodle designs. I like how easy they are to manage the flow. If the Colour Pops come out of the bottle more easily, would the liquid come out too fast for writing with? Also wondering if the nozzles clog like the Nuvo drops do? I think you’d be able to write with them just fine. They aren’t runny or anything like that. I honestly can’t decide if it’s the viscosity of the Pops, the way the cone tip works compared to the tube of a Drops bottle, or potentially the make up of the plastic of the bottle. It could also be a combination of any of those or none at all. It’s not a bad thing, just different. I add Nuvo Drops to almost every single layout I create so feeling the difference may just be more apparent to me. It’s like different weights of cardstock. To someone who doesn’t use paper like we all do, the feel of cutting one brand vs another (like American Crafts vs Pinkfresh for example) may feel exactly the same. We changed copy paper at school recently and almost every teacher commented on the thickness difference because we’re all very familiar with how a stack of thirty worksheets feels in our hands. In regards to clogging, I’ve not had any clog on me yet. I assume they can though because anything that’s sticky and comes through a tiny tip seems to clog for me at some point. If/when it does happen, I would also assume I could unclog it as easily as a Nuvo Drop bottle. Time will tell for both of those though.

Second, I agree wholeheartedly that those red stoppers are annoying to take out. I trying doing it with my fingers and got too frustrated. Now I use my small pliers or even my snips to gently grasp and remove the red stopper easily. As annoying as they are, I think they’re a good idea. With them sealing the product inside without air, there’s little chance in them drying up or getting clumpy.

So, I set up a chart to compare dry times between the three main finishes of both. Pops and Drops both have a "clear" but that felt pointless to test since, well, they're clear. Warm colors are Nuvo Drops. Cool colors are Pops of Color. I'm comparing complimentary colors to keep everything straight. My plan is to place all the drops at once (11:11am as it turned out) and then see how dry they are in one hour increments with a timer set on my watch. I also just noticed I never went back and added the "s" to 2 hour and 3 hour. Oops. Poor grammar aside, I'm excited to test this. https://www.instagram.com/p/CcsrbnMOM6U

I have a lot of experience with drops, so I thought I'd add my 2 cents. I like the Pops of Color much better. They are looser (not drippy) and easier to use, and they settle without the little point at the top. The Nuvo Drops almost always look more like Hershey's Kisses than dots. They also appear to not dry out like the Nuvo Drops do. The Nuvos get thick and gooey over time, but the Pops still appear to be going strong after more than a year. They both dry with the same effect. They feel more like rubber than enamel, and they will both squish and dent if pressure is applied to them. The best drops I've ever used are the Pearl Pens by Viva Decor. They ALWAYS turn out perfectly, and I've had them for more than 10 years. I guess I need to use them more often. I wish there were more colors. Enamel Accents by Ranger were very good also, except the colors faded very quickly, right in the bottle. The ones I have give an interesting marble effect, but not what I wanted when I bought them. I had terrible customer service from Ranger when I contacted them, so I never bought them again. I'm not even sure they're still on the market.
