The do you store your layouts chronologically thread got me wondering if or how often everyone looks at the layouts you've made. Are you in this for the creative outlet so rarely or never go back? Do you regularly pull out albums to find a specific photo or story? Or do you pull out albums and flip through them, taking in all the stories?

I'm mostly a flip through an album to find a specific photo or story person, although occasionally I'll pull out an album and just flip through the whole thing, stopping to read the stories that catch my eye, but still looking at everything. This change has mostly been because I got my albums onto a bookshelf last year, previously they lived on a shelf at the top of my wardrobe which made it more difficult to get them out.
I've really enjoyed going through my older albums. Often I'll discover pages I'd forgotten I'd made, be amazed by how awesome my scrapping skills are, and enjoy the little walk down memory lane.

I scrapbook for the creative outlet and for memory-keeping. I mostly scrap events;weddings, holidays, vacations etc. I'd say my family and/or friends and I look through my albums a few times a year.
One of our traditions is to look through all my DD albums every year when we gather for Christmas. It's fun to look back and see how we've all changed, the different things we've done etc.

I do look back through my albums for various reasons. I need to remember to look for some pictures of my 13 daughter as a toddler at the GA Aquarium. Two of my dear friends just scrapped their daughter there from a trip last month. So, there's one example of when I look through them.
If I add an additional page I look through. If someone is visiting and wants to see them. If I'm feeling sentimental, I'll look through them then as well. I confess to not doing that recently though. Seeing my daughter all grown up and then as a little baby hits me in the feels since it looks like she won't get to be a big sister like I'd hoped. I'm sure I'll eventually look back on my own one day without tears. Until then, I'm just going to look through when someone else wants a peek.
Oh! All that said and I'll add this. The Disney albums are upstairs. I do still look through those regularly. Seeing her happy smiles helps me forget the surly teen looks! lol

I do, seeing the pictures and remembering the details are part of the fun of scrapbooking for me.

My kids do more often than I do, but I like looking through them. Sometimes for ideas and others just for fun.

I do - sometimes to look for a specific photo or story and sometimes just because. My family looks through them also.

I do. And it's not always for memories. It's to remind myself of just how far we've come with the kids, especially ds. Sometimes I need to be reminded of the battles won...it gives me the strength to fight the new ones.

I do look at my albums-not on a superbregular basis, but I do pull them out to show my son something, and I pulled out some of his birthday layouts last weekend for his party.
The other time I go through albums is to look for what stories I am missing/haven't told for a particular year. During Covid I decided itbwas important to get my son's birthday layouts caught up, so started working on those (nope, I'm not caught up).
When I put away layouts, I will sometimes flip through the album too. I really enjoy looking at my old layouts, I guess I feel like I get to re-live the moment, and admire my past creativity.
We have the best hobby. ❤

I look through all my scrapbooks, several times a year.
Reminiscing and memories. Sometimes by myself, sometimes with someone else. Sometimes it's just random, sometimes friends or a Family member will get talking about something, the good old days, remember when?, etc... and I will pull out one or two scrapbooks looking for the photos/layouts pertaining to whatever we were talking about.
Therapy. Sometimes, especially as I've aged, I feel like life is passing me by and that I haven't done much, but when I start looking through my scrapbooks, and looking through my journal at my bucket list and what's been checked off..... it makes me feel better, because it reminds me that I have done a lot (more than some, less than others).
I am thankful and grateful, that I have my scrapbooks and journal to look through. Especially because sometimes memories fade or get pushed to the background. My scrapbooks help me remember things I forgotten about.

I was one of those people who maybe pulled out an album twice a year. Usually when one of my kids was having some kind of meltdown so I could remind myself of them as they were younger.
I went through all my albums on Tuesday. Every single one of them. I just was so happy and sad as I went through them. I picked all the ones with pictures of Esther in them and took them to the funeral home on Wednesday. And you know people during the visitation just poured over them.
Now that she is gone, I'm so very grateful to have them. I'm so glad I did this and stayed mostly on track with it over the years.
I plan to look back at them much more often. I need to remember.

When the dgk's come they often enjoy going through my scrapbooks. I love seeing/hearing them looking through the pages and sharing memories.
As each dgk has graduated from high school so far, I have gone through all the albums with pages about the grad, made copies of those pages, and gave them a scrapbook of the copies as their grad gift. Finding those pages and putting those books together is a big job, but I really enjoy sifting through those stories. Two years ago a couple of the girls helped me extract and label pages for their sister and cousin, and they made the job fun. the recipients appreciate those books, too. The tradition started when my oldest dgs requested a scrapbook as his grad gift. Last month my 16 year old dgd was already telling her friends about how she would get HER book in a couple of years.
Most of the time my albums live on their shelves until I need to check back about a date or other detail. Sometimes something one of the younger dgk's does reminds me of an older sibling or cousin's stories and I go back and check. Sometimes I just need to smile at the memories.

I go through mine all of the time. I was just flipping through the pages this morning as my coffee was brewing. They make me so happy.

My husband likes to grab them from time to time to look at, so we look together. I scrapbook our trips, and am (still) working my way through the ticket scrapbooks.

Sometimes.
My albums have been especially helpful in trying to write my Mom’s story, and I want to get my own story written, too. My kids and grandkids want stories about their life and mine, so they also enjoy looking though pages that I’ve done (mostly when they are in the pictures).
As my memory diminishes with age, the albums are more valuable than ever.

Occasionally. Either for inspiration or if I’m looking for something.

Yes! My boys are now 17 and 20 and we have a bin of finished scrapbooks, they each have 6-7. We do look through them and recall the memories, and have a good laugh about things. I love that they love doing that!

I love looking through my albums.
I do it by myself. With the kids. With the husband. With anyone that wants to look at them. 😂

I look through one album or another every day. I have some current albums next to my bed.
My son's best friend since childhood was recently taken by suicide. I went right to the albums and sent him photos of the two from kindergarten through to my most recent pics a few years ago. Of course I had to look at each album.
My oldest son recently took his martial arts album from my house because his family is taking martial arts together. That made me very happy. That means only 100 more for them to take!

Yes I enjoy looking through my albums for most of the same reasons others have mentioned.
I love looking back at the vacations we took & places we've been as well as just everyday moments. My son is the focus of a lot of my pages but as he has grown (he's almost 20) I've focused on myself and DH more for my pages & I enjoy looking at those as well. My son & DH also like to look at my books so I'm glad I've stuck with this hobby!

I have two albums that my grandmother made for me of her life, as well as photos of me. They were title "Grandmother Remembers" and I go through those fairly regularly. She journaled a lot, which is my weakness but going through those albums makes me realize how important it is. I look through my other albums fairly regularly too. I am just starting to be more diligent about regular, chronological documentation, and I love the album I made for last year. It keeps me motivated to keep going...if only I could take more photos!

Not often. Scrapbooking has become more of a hobby to play with paper. Sometimes it's hard to look at certain years. I have to be in a good place to scrapbook or even look at albums.

I look through them fairly regularly. In my early days, I mostly scrapped by events (trips, outings, etc) but I've scrapped chronologically for about 10 years now and I love going back and looking through my photos.

I look thru my albums. A lot of times it will be sparked from a conversation w/ my SO about something we did, somewhere we went and trying to remember dates, people, etc. Scrapbooking actually helps me remember things more vividly because I can usually recall things based on the photo I scrapped and knowing what album it's in.

Not very often unless I want to get inspired to do a project again like WITL. I almost never read the journaling.
My daughter is 4 and she’s been asking to “look at the book with the good pictures”….my PL, and it’s been fun to look at it with her.
